Lollypop lady doesn't like me

I moved to the area 4 years ago. There are a few lollypop folk on the way to school but this one lives on my street and works just at the end of our road. I am quite friendly and when I moved here I spoke to the lollypop people but this one whenever I crossed the road never spoke to me and still hasn't 4 years later. I say thank you when I cross the road but she never says a word to me but she will talk to dc and she talks to other people a lot! She has always just watched me with beady eyes. There was a short time before lockdown she would give me a strained smile when I crossed the road but that's it. I feel awkward in a way when I pass because I never know if I should say thank you or just ignore her altogether because she is clearly being rude to me. 4 years crossing the road with her! Confused😂

Don't give her another thought.
She doesn't need to like you. She just needs to do her job.

@Girlzroolz Whistle? Are lollipop ladies School Crossing Patrol Officers equipped with whistles now, as well as body cams?

Incidentally, does anybody know what the horizontal black stripe is for on the lollipop sign? I learned on driving instructor training that it has a very specific purpose. Wink

@Namechange6005 I don’t think it was strange to call the school about the missing lollipop man. It was very sweet, kind, and neighbourly. Keep being nice and don’t let the MN grumpy hermits get you down. :)

Thanks @JingsMahBucket Grin

Nobody knows (or cares) about the black stripe on the lollipop sign? For any drivers who failed to "stop for the lollipop", it was a handy place to write the number plate, with chalk.

Our school has a lovely lollypop man. He's always happy whatever the weather.

At DD1s nursery school the lollypop lady was awful. She seemed to hate everyone. What made it worse was that her spot was on a pedestrian crossing and she used to yell at the kids who dared to push the button because that was her job. Everyone would have to wait for the traffic to stop, wait for the beep, and then for her to walk out, then everyone could cross.

@Solongtoshort,as a crossing patrol,I can assure you I don't notice which cars I'm stopping,if people need to cross I stop the traffic. I did have a bloke lean out of the window and shout that I stopped him "every fucking day " maybe because you drive down a busy road near a school at the same time every day? Just a thought.

letsgomaths · 22/08/2020 12:42

@exbrummie Do they issue you with chalk to write the number plate of cars which don't stop, or do you use cameras now?

exbrummie · 23/08/2020 18:21

@letsgomaths no the black stripe isn't made of blackboard material anymore,I have heard it used to be. I don't have a camera but I have heard some crossing patrols do in busy areas.
