Which season do you love?

Just that really. Inspired by all the chatter of the heatwave and those who love and loathe it.

Autumn seems to feed my soul. I love it all. The colours and the smell of a bonfire. The clothes and the nights closing in. I also love the other transitional season of spring because the world feels hopeful to me, and the days feel fresh and the lighter evenings are welcome after the winter.

So tell me, what's your favourite season?

Summer is my favourite. I find the dark days of winter very hard.

SimonJT · 13/08/2020 17:12

Summer.

I love heat, I love being outdoors so I like the fact that in summer we can be out until well into the night and its still light. I also don’t like wearing lots of clothes, so not having to wear a jacket etc is a big bonus. If I can go out in shorts and t-shirts I’m happy.

chestnutshell · 13/08/2020 17:13

I have a friend who seems to constantly shiver from mid-Sept to about June. She just feels the cold in her bones, and then in 30 degree heat she is walking around in black jeans hardly sweating. She's a scientific marvel to me. Whereas I suffer on in the heat and she tells me to stop being so bloody miserable Grin

Autumn for me. Love the crunchy leaves, orange and red colours, bonfire night, halloween- love it all!

unmarkedbythat · 13/08/2020 17:16

Summer. I love heat. I love the air being warm on my skin, not needing to wear loads of layers, being outside without feeling cold, long evenings, everything alive and vibrant. I hate, hate, hate late autumn to midwinter, especially when it rains. And rains. And rains. Spring is ok, with the promise of summer on the way, early autumn is ok, still not too cold and grey and grim. But summer is the best. I adore it.

MountainDweller · 13/08/2020 17:16

I love spring, and now I don't live in the UK, we are pretty much guaranteed at least some good weather! It is a bit marred by the fact that my dad died suddenly in spring 2017, so I don't feel quite so good about it, but still love the warm weather, things starting to grow and lighter evenings. We have lovely late summer/autumn weather often here too, so Sept/Oct is a close second, although I'm usually fed up by the end of October when it's raining more and the clocks go back. I don't hate summer but struggle when it hits 30 for more than a few days.

Holothane · 13/08/2020 17:19

September to December love it, if I could go to sleep New Year’s Eve and wake up March 1st I’d be happy.

AliasGrape · 13/08/2020 17:24

Autumn for me. I just love it, always have.

I like the bit of winter before Christmas too. Jan and Feb can piss off though.

I love the blossoms and new flowers of Spring too, and seeing the lambs in the fields.

I used to be quite anti summer but I like it more now. I love teaching in the term leading up to the summer holidays when you’re really appreciating your class before you have to hand them on, and we do as much as possible outdoors.

So yeah, things I love about all the seasons but Autumn has my heart.

VetOnCall · 13/08/2020 17:33

Summer! I would live in eternal summer if I could.

I despised winter in the UK - the miserable dull greyness, the rain and damp cold. Here in Alberta winter is freezing (regularly -30 and below) and lasts forever, but most days are crisp and sunny with dazzling blue skies. Autumn and spring are pretty much blink and you miss them though - it goes from freezing snow to hot sun and vice versa very, very quickly, so I miss spring in the UK. The saying in much of Canada is that there's '7 months of winter and 5 months of construction'.

TodayNoMore · 13/08/2020 17:40

Spring for me.

Especially the first couple of weeks after the clocks change, with the first light evenings of the year, trees coming into leaf, pleasant, warm sunshine, and being able to relax outside in the garden again.

Also, the promise of a good summer ahead (though not the hot, humid days of late).

November is my least favourite. It's dark, wet, miserable, and getting darker still with every passing day.

mintich · 13/08/2020 17:40

Winter, autumn, spring, summer

Lelophants · 13/08/2020 17:41

September 1st until December 25th is wonderful.
Then I'd rather go to sleepwalker, wake up in March, enjoy until the beginning of June and then sleep again until 1st December Grin

Lelophants · 13/08/2020 17:41

*September!

Graymare · 13/08/2020 17:51

Autumn is my favourite. The colours, the light, the way the air smells!
Spring is second. Really don't like extremes of temperature in either direction.

GreyGardens88 · 13/08/2020 17:52

April, May, June - Spring? Just a brill time of year really, all the flowers coming out, everything turning green, lighter evenings, an air of hopefulness, not too hot yet.

I get the appeal of Autumn, but apart enjoying the run up to xmas it's not for me! Reminds me of going back to school, and I think it's sad seeing the leaves turn brown and dropping, reminds me of the months of winter ahead

TheReynoldsPamphlet · 13/08/2020 17:55

Autumn, then Winter for me.
I love that period from the middle of September into the New Year. The windy, rainy nights but it doesn't matter, because you're nice and cosy at home. The rain is thumping off the window, but the fire's lit, the curtains are drawn, the candles are lit and the dog is snoring on my knee. Bliss!

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 13/08/2020 18:01

Winter, i love being snuggled up on the sofa when its raining outside, i love the snow and christmas, love getting wellie boots on and splashing in puddles with the kids.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/08/2020 18:04

I love all the seasons except summer, I hate to be too hot and like to keep my cardigan on.Grin

homemadecommunistrussia · 13/08/2020 18:19

Oh yes, and it should be dark at night!

Lostinbooksandcoffee · 13/08/2020 18:20

Autumn! It's absolutely my favourite season. I love the cooler weather, especially when it's a crisp, sunny day but with a lovely chill in the air. I look forward to my jumpers and boots, hot chocolate, Bonfire night, Halloween, Christmas, etc.

Spring is a very close second, then winter then summer.

I really don't like this type of weather. I feel sick and tired, don't want to eat or cook, struggle with play with the kids or clean the house properly, I can't sleep as it's too bloody sticky, and just generally feel out of sorts.

I'm looking forward to Autumn already, and am currently Googling which soup recipes to make first 😂

InFiveMins · 13/08/2020 18:23

Autumn because of the build up to Christmas, I love it! Love the dark evenings, the smell in the air, hot filling dinners, cosy jumpers, crisp mornings.......

Whatevernext1 · 13/08/2020 18:25

Winter is definitely my favourite time of year followed by Autumn. I don't mind the start of Spring but I hate Summer.
I don't cope well in the heat,I finished work a couple of hours ago and I was soaked right through, sweat all over my face and wet crunchy hair, really not nice 😂
Don't get me wrong I enjoy a holiday where I can spend the say in the pool and having drinks whenever I like,I just don't want that sort of weather in my everyday life.
Give me Winter any day though,I love the dark nights, just wish they would last longer! I find it easier to dress for Winter too, although I can't wear those lovely Winter jumpers because I'm still far too hot and can barely manage to wear a coat! I can't wait for the nights to start drawing in!

Mumtumwobble · 13/08/2020 18:26

Autumn is my favourite, but Spring is a close second.
