Films with unexpectedly good soundtracks?

Just that really!
Does anyone know of any soundtracks from films that are unexpectedly amazing?

We drove quite a distance yesterday to get to our UK holiday destination and listened to...

The Peter Rabbit soundtrack! It's such a great soundtrack, but really unexpected! Such variety of music- and some really good tunes 🎶🎵🎶🎵!

Does anyone have anymore to share?!

Velvet Goldmine.

Bowie wouldn't let them use his music so they got creative with the soundtrack. Lots of 90s indie 'supergroups' doing classic glam stuff and it works rather well (I know this wasn't a widely held view at the time but I love it!).

Came here to say Baby Driver and Deathproof but I see someone with great taste has already said those two

I was also coming to say Twilight, bit of a fan obviously my username gives it away! Breaking dawn part 1 soundtrack is my favourite.

The soundtrack to The Truman Show was composed by Philip Glass and is very beautiful.

IamChipmunk · 12/08/2020 20:41

I came on to say Cruel Intentions (which I still love despite being 40!) And Kevin and Perry go large! (Ditto!)
I see they have already been mentioned!

Squiffany · 12/08/2020 20:42

@WingBingo

Guardians of the Galaxy!
Yes!

Also Kill Bill.

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 12/08/2020 20:48

Yes, yes, yes to Cruel Intentions! (Still fancy Ryan PhillipeBlush)
And Captain Marvel.

Two instrumental soundtracks for you -
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (Nick Cave is a genius)
and Cinema Paradiso (always makes me tearful)

Lelophants · 12/08/2020 20:50

Yes to all the Twiglight films! Music and scenery is brilliant.

BarkingHat · 12/08/2020 20:56

Grosse point blank brilliant 80s music.

PushyMeez · 12/08/2020 21:08

Minions - can't stand the film but the soundtrack is so good!

LemonDrizzles · 12/08/2020 21:20

Sugar and spice

Also tree of life unofficial

LabradorGalore · 12/08/2020 21:22

Warm bodies - film is ok and didn’t make a huge impact but the soundtrack is brilliant.

Also hard agree to guardians of the galaxy (but only the first film). And 10 things I hate about you.

rumpleteaserspaws · 12/08/2020 21:22

Into the Wild has a beautiful soundtrack by Eddie Vedder.

AliceinBunnyland · 12/08/2020 21:25

Cruel Intentions
The Beach
Romeo & Juliet

Not a film but love the Nashville soundtracks

I'm showing my age Blush

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 12/08/2020 21:28

travailtotravel · 12/08/2020 21:28

Loads of these and also unexpectedly the Muppets is a great mix! Featuring the great are tuba nan or a muppet?!

Also my nerd quotient requires me to say Mark Knopfler has composed some amazing film soundtracks - Local Hero. Last exit to Brooklyn. Cal, The Princess Bride ...

Lucked · 12/08/2020 21:32

Grosse pointe blank is good for some 80s tunes as is the Ashes to Ashes soundtracks.
