What is going on with Britney?

Just that really. I was early teens when she first appeared on the scene and I’ve always had a soft spot for her. She’s obviously got issues but I thought she was in a good place until recently. Her instagram account suggests otherwise. Has anyone else noticed? I hope she’s ok.

Search twitter, there was loads about it a few weeks ago. Or that’s when I saw it. And possibly on here?

Apparently there are problems, her family controlling her or something apparently. There’s the free Britney movement and she seems to be trapped by them

I wonder why someone (her publicist maybe?) is not monitoring her social media. Even her eye make up looks bad (and cheap). Not trying to bash her - I’m just worried about her. She looks like she needs a big cuddle from her mum.

I just can’t understand what’s going on and I’ve been following it for a while.

Surely if she really was locked up and controlled by her family like her fans claim she wouldn’t be able to be posting such odd stuff on Instagram all the time?!

Whatever’s going on, she’s clearly not in a good frame of mind so it’s very hard to tell whether any “controlling” by her family is actually for her own good

Britney doesn’t have access to a phone unsupervised, one of her carers is taking and posting the photo.

For an adult to be placed under such a restrictive and long-term conservatorship is unusual. A court has found that Britney is unable to take care of herself; in the eyes of the law she is essentially a child. Generally this only happens when someone has a very severe mental illness or other condition rendering them unable to live independently. To protect Britney’s privacy they’ve obviously not released any information about her medical condition(s) or the reasons for the conservatorship. Her performance career under the conservatorship and her troubled history with her father make the situation more worrying.

The whole thing is a mess, but I hope the courts are able to act in the proper manner while preserving her right to privacy.

I know you might not know the answers - I’m just so perplexed by it all. Long term fan of her and I just hope she’s ok.

I think it’s clear she is in a manic episode, she is even speaking very very quickly on some of those posts. With what’s going on in the world at the moment you can see why anyone’s MH would deteriorate. I hope she’s ok

I did read somewhere a whilst ago she actually has schizophrenia and that is why they have locked her down and it's not early onset dementia like her father told the courts.

The conservatorship started after she shaved her head? I was in high school when that happened. We would talk about her break down a lot at school and I would think every morning that I was would wake up to find her dead. I’m 29 now so it must be at least 13 years. That’s a long long time for someone else to control everything you do.

It’d make sense for those wanting to retain control to enable to release content reinforcing their arguments to do so.

It’s a v worrying set up IMO, supposedly she’s well enough to perform frequently, over a long period of time, and earn a lot of money that way, yet not well enough to manage her basic affairs. Even more worrying if those in control have a history of coercion and are financially profiting from her work.

Prompted by something I read online I looked at her Instagram account. I find the photos disturbing to the point I can't look at them.

She’s just a cash cow for her so called family. Always has been abused and used by them.

I never approve of Britneys treatment. Surely if she is so ill she needs a conservator, she shouldn't be doing her Vegas shows.

It feels that all her family care about is the money.

The conservatoire documentation submitted to the court stated she was diagnosed with dementia, it is very rare in young people and is linked to genetics, learning disabilities, brain abnormalities etc, and means she lacks the level of capacity required to make the Decisions she would need to make , which due to her money and fame are much more complex than for others, the Court information is available on line.

I think all this conspiracy theory shit isn’t helpful. She clearly still has a full life and works which makes her happy. However being able to dance, and lip sync, is not the same as being able to take control of her wider life and make decisions.

I really dislike people complaining she works, what would they prefer, she is locked up? Not allowed to? Because we all know being able to dance a routine, to lip sync songs, and enjoying it, wanting to do it, is no where near the same as having capacity to make much bigger decisions.

I thought it was just that they still conteolled her money not her. It's very sad to hear. Brtiney was my childhood too.

Her posts are not normal.
She reminds me of Michael Jackson in that she has a very young mind for her age.

Those weird dances she posts or The sped up exercises where she looks like she’s humping the floor.

Her hair is very yellow and always looks unwashed and in a bad shape. Her make up permanently looks like it was applied A week ago.

The weird quotes or saying things like “I just wanted to share This amazing tree I love trees they are wonderful the branches mean happiness hehehe”

I do wonder is Sam really her boyfriend it is he paid to look after her?

No one is complaining that Britney works. You’re also diminishing her professional capabilities and success.

If the people in charge of her affairs are financially profiting from her work, over a v long period of time, and/or have history of coercing her, that’s worrying. Particularly if they also take decisions about her work.

Jessica Simpson’s autobiography is interesting on her parents, who used to manage her.

The was a thread about this on the feminism board. I think this is so sad. It is clear to me that she is being abused by her dad. He hit one of her kids and that is why she only has about 30% custody but he has total control over her life. These sort of arrangements are not meant for people who are able to work.
