How often go you wash your bedsheets?

MonkeysAllGoWoo · 11/08/2020 14:47

I put freshly washed line dried bedsheets on last night and it was lovely to sleep in the bed, as it always is!

I've just sat on a tube of moisturiser/tanning lotion and didn't realise (arse must be fatter than I realise) and half of it is now on my bed/shorts. I text my friend saying this just happened lol. Why is it always fresh sheets? Sort of message. I now wonder if I'm a bit of a rotter as she text back saying wouldn't you be putting fresh ones on tonight anyway?!

I change mine weekly. Usually a Friday task. Summer may change this but I don't sleep under the duvet if it's too hot so it doesn't automatically change in summer?!

And what about towels?

Once a week for bedding and towels. I love a fresh bed but don't have the space to dry everything more often than that.

sonjadog · 11/08/2020 15:34

Once a week usually, but sometimes it will stretch to two weeks if I don't think it needs a change.

DramaAlpaca · 11/08/2020 15:37

Once a week or so, sometimes every two weeks if I'm honest. I don't think I'm a skanky mare but half of MN probably does.

@WorraLiberty

Probably less than this subject gets posted 😂

About once a week, or sometimes more in hot weather.

😂
Els1e · 11/08/2020 15:40

At least once a week. Though if I have been a sweaty Betty and had a bad night sleep, I’ll do it earlier.

ScorpioSphinxInACalicoDress · 11/08/2020 15:40

Once a week in cold weather, every three days or so in summer. Pillowcases and towels more often.
Saw a science doc about bedsheets and pillowcases and they are a veritable soup of microscopic and sub-liquid gunk.

silentpool · 11/08/2020 15:42

Once a week during cold weather, 2-3 times a week when its hot like it is right now.

pipnchops · 11/08/2020 15:42

Every fortnight they get changed in our house. I think maybe your friend meant won't you be changing them as they now have moisturiser all over them?

Trashtara · 11/08/2020 15:44

I aim for pillows and sheets weekly and duvet cover fortnightly/. 3 weekly, but it is usually every 2 weeks & once a month.

NotAQueef · 11/08/2020 15:44

Once a week in winter, usually twice per week in summer. Love fresh sheets definitely helps me sleep better.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 11/08/2020 15:46

Same as Worra!

MsEllany · 11/08/2020 15:49

Fortnightly if I’m lucky.

More often when they smell Grin

JaJaDingDong · 11/08/2020 15:50

Every 3 weeks. But I'm a sloven, and I don't care!

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 11/08/2020 15:55

When they crack as I get in or snap when I try to fold them backward.

I couldn't change them daily and end up with 7 sets to wash every week. What a waste of water and harm to the environment.

IncrediblySadToo · 11/08/2020 15:58

At least once a week in winter.
At least 2-3 times a week in the summer
Nightly in this heat, but I'm 51 and hot anyway. This heat I'm just melting.

But it's only been a bottom sheet & pillow cases this week as the duvet has been folded on the chair all week & the sheet /pillow cases dry in minutes on the line & smell lovely & fresh.

user1471538283 · 11/08/2020 16:00

I launder the bed linen at least once a week often more because I love clean linen and sometimes need to (I am a certain age!). I would love fresh linen every day. We use a fresh towel each time so I launder towels alot!

tillytoodles1 · 11/08/2020 16:02

I read that Jackie Kennedy had her bed changed 3/4 mes a day as she had at least two naps and the sheets were changed after she got up, then after her naps.

Sunny4876 · 11/08/2020 16:03

Weekly,maybe fortnightly in winter.

canigooutyet · 11/08/2020 16:04

At the moment every day I have to change the pillowcase and bottom sheet. Heatwave and hot flushes aren't a good combination. How often they get flung in the machine depends on when there's a load to be washed.

Rest of the year once or twice a week. I don't have a duvet. Cooler nights I just have a sheet over me, so that's easy to change and as it gets colder I add another blanket/sheet and depending on what I've been doing they get washed once a week or so.

Dc's varied depending on any accidents etc, but once a week was the standard. As teens when they are put in the machine/wash basket.

I hate duvets, pain to change and hard to regulate heat.

Towels, we all have our own. Teens when they put them in the machine or basket. Mine when it doesn't "feel" right.

Hand towels get flung in the wash basket daily.

vanillandhoney · 11/08/2020 16:04

Weekly, sometimes twice a week if it's really hot and sweaty.

TimeTruthandHearts · 11/08/2020 16:04

I strip the beds every Saturday morning, usually whilst watching Saturday Kitchen/ Sat Kitchen Best Bites (hows that for a saddo routine Grin)
They all get washed, dried and replaced that day.

In theory I could change them more regularly as we do all have more than one set, but it's just occurred to me that I never ever do this- I only swap them when I fancy a different set.

VictoriousSockPuppet · 11/08/2020 16:05

Usually hourly, but since lockdown its every 20 minutes

BarbaraofSeville · 11/08/2020 16:06

People reuse their sheets Shock.

I get a new mattress and bedding set delivered every morning and the old ones taken away for incineration. Anything else is simply discusting.

Trisolaris · 11/08/2020 16:08

Once a week but only because the cleaner does it, otherwise it would be much less often. It’s the job dp and I both like the least so making the bed is the only thing she does in addition to regular cleaning (no ironing etc). Dp strips it and I do the frantic tidy before she arrives.

WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat · 11/08/2020 16:09

When sheet creaks when I fold it over - I know it is due a change. Wink
