How often go you wash your bedsheets?

I put freshly washed line dried bedsheets on last night and it was lovely to sleep in the bed, as it always is!

I've just sat on a tube of moisturiser/tanning lotion and didn't realise (arse must be fatter than I realise) and half of it is now on my bed/shorts. I text my friend saying this just happened lol. Why is it always fresh sheets? Sort of message. I now wonder if I'm a bit of a rotter as she text back saying wouldn't you be putting fresh ones on tonight anyway?!

I change mine weekly. Usually a Friday task. Summer may change this but I don't sleep under the duvet if it's too hot so it doesn't automatically change in summer?!

And what about towels?

Why bother only doing half the job? Doesn't the duvet suffer the same as the sheet?

Not really. Sometimes il just put a clean sheet on and leave the duvet cover.
But then i have a dog who's partial to getting in bed with me.

Every week or two. Towels every month.

Poor environment for all the excess washing. I never get ill and nor do dc, touch wood. I think the lack of excessive cleanliness probably helps.

Doesn't it depend on how many in the bed? A double with one will only get half as dirty as with two. Or a child compared with an adolescent or adult? Or if you are bothered by the heat or not?

I have been doing them every other day at the moment, you are as it’s so warm. I don’t do the washing and ironing though. It only takes a few minutes for two people to make a bed and that starched, fresh feeling is so nice.

🤢 I am starting to get a bit judgemental but apparently lots of us are SO busy compared to everyone else.
Monthly is a bit grot tbh.

I do it monthly. Sometimes i even skip a month and do it 2 monthly because i hate.doing.laundry.

Plus i am to busy doing other bullshit laundry and cooking dinners and raising kids and trying to live somesort of a descent life outside of my house.

I always shower before going to bed though, heck i even wash my hair every now and then ...

Am i lazy? Yes. Should i do it more often: yes. Do i love laying in my own filth: apperently 🐷 😎

Once a week I change the sheet and pillows, and turn the duvet over. Duvet cover changed every two weeks.

Every couple of weeks here. We have showers at night anyway, so it fine. the two dogs whi come in for a cuddle each morning are totally hygienic ;-)

Forgot to add it's the dust mite poo that is the main problem.

Basically we air beds to kill dust mites. Dust mites are invisible to the naked eye & there are over a million in your bed overnight. They thrive in a warm & moist environment.
Leaving the bed unmade with a window open in the day a removes moisture from the sheets and mattress so the mites will dehydrate and eventually die.
Also kills of any other microscopic mould & fungi.
All these can cause/exacerbate allergies & asthma.
And everyone loses moisture from their body at night even if we don't think we have sweated.

Before anyone says I don't have dust mites in my bedroom because I clean & hoover my bedroom everyday, yes you do they are everywhere.

Well, I don't think anyone is taking their sheets down to the river with a washboard. Takes me about 3 minutes to strip bed and get to washing machine.

When you have 3 or 4 beds to change and have to put them in the wash in a few different loads and then peg out or put each load in tumble dryer it takes time. It’s not that you have to do stuff constantly but you have to be changing stuff over throughout the day. We have a super king size bed so the duvet cover, sheet and pillow cases have to be split between two loads, then the kids have king size now so it does take time.

We do 3 loads most days without bedding. It’s never ending.

But your sheets will have dried sweat on them as well - just because you don't wake up feeling damp, doesn't mean you've not sweated all over your bedsheets!

Add in drool (most people drool in their sleep), hair, plus bodily fluids from when couples have sex, and it's safe to say that beds aren't the most hygienic of places

Well but of sweat is nothing in comparison to what some folk do or leave behind on the sheets in my holiday lets, I won't go into detail and gross everyone out but suffice to say a fair few sheets go straight in the bin.

Everyone sweats in their sleep - no point trying to shame other people who may sweat more than you - you do it too!

Sweating a lot doesn't mean a person is dirty or unfit or gross - it's totally normal to sweat, some people just do it less than others.

Everyone sweats in their sleep. Often your body heat then dries the sheets before you wake, but the sweat remains. Airing your bed goes someway to reducing the bacteria.

I have 32 beds to change (I run holiday lets) plus the three in this house so weekly is a must to change beds or bi weekly sometimes, I send all the sheets to the laundry but the beds still have to be made up Im quick and very adept at putting on clean sheets these days.

Everyone sweats in their sleep, no point shaming people about it. I'm not talking about wet sheets but there will be sweat, it's just natural. Thanks for your contribution though, incredible sweat free woman. You and Prince Andrew should be studied

Sleeping on sheets with dried sweat accumulating day after day as you say you air your bed to “dry it” out from sweat, yes - that’s pretty gross

I did go for doubling up of pillowcases and changing them daily though, because it's my head that sweats the most and my pillows are fairly new!

Every couple of weeks. I intend to do it more often at the moment because I'm so sweaty but in reality it's one a week or two still. I can see the logic,
need even for daily changes in this weather, but in all honesty sod that for a game of soldiers.
