Landline phone?

Do you still have one? I do but only my mother calls me on it! Thinking of cancelling it but are there any benefits in keeping it?

No matter how good a mobile you have ,I've yet to find one that has the clarity of a landline.
I recently had a call from a friend on their mobile and had great difficulty understanding them.
I would say it's worth keeping as you can rely on them in an emergency

I do agree with that. It’s always clearer in a landline.

We have one but very rarely use it. I unplugged it a few weeks ago after getting a series of "I'm calling about your recent car accident.." calls and still haven't bothered to plug it back in.

We only have one for our internet. Nobody ever rings it and I never use it; it’s totally pointless.

We all have mobiles now, with the same provider so we get free calls. If the phone signal is good enough, I'd say unplug the landline.

Yes because it comes with our virgin net package. Hardly ever use it!

Yes. We need a landline anyway to get the internet and the phone doesn't cost any extra so, why not?

Our house phone broke about 2 years ago but as we hardly used it we didn't replace it and honestly don't miss it. All four of us have a mobile so no need for house phone

We have a landline phone but never use it. Occasionally someone rings us but it's rare these days. Even MIL calls out mobiles now - she was the only family/friend who ever used it.

I tried to move it to oncoming only as I know you used to be able to do that; my student house was. But it seems you can't do that anymore.

I'd get rid of it entirely but never quite sure if we have to have one for the internet or anything.

No. Everyone I want to talk to has my mobile number, which I've had for over 10 years. I haven't changed my home or email address in over 20 years so those are other ways to contact me. I unplugged the landline phone when I retired and realised how many times I was being called by men with really heavy Indian accents and names like William or Brian, who wanted to help me with Windows on my Macbook. I haven't missed it.

Technically I do but I never use it. The handsets been busy for ages and I haven't bothered replacing, apparently I need it and plugged in for WiFi? Not sure why.

Occasionally it rings (but I can't answer it!) thankfully a very quiet ring so doesn't disturb me and based on how things were before it bust it'll be scammers calling anyway!

I use mobile for all calls - that way I can screen!

I can hear much better on the phone too especially with the speaker on!

My parents still have one and they do use it. Partly an age/generation thing but also they live very remotely/rurally and don't always get a mobile signal.

I didn’t have a landline phone but I paid for a landline so it was active. I learnt my lesson though.

School was trying to call me but O2 had gone down. It was an emergency.

I had no idea until my friend who worked at the school drove to my house and I had to phone the school with her mobile.

It was a horrible shock.

Never again Sad I have a cheap one that I never have to use. It shocks me whenever it rings about once a month - usually someone thinking I’m the local garden centre!

I’d rather that though.

We got rid of ours. In then end we only got cold callers on it and it just seemed a waste of money.

Our landline phone screens automatically. Zero spam calls.

I have one for my mother to call me. It's costing me quite a lot every month but my mother won't/can't learn to use WhatsApp ( or text or take photos) on her phone so I am stuck with it.

Yes - live in a location with limited mobile signal - use it all the time. I also tend to phone friends on their landlines as no service is common in our area. DH is working from home currently and he's never off it.

Yes from us, we don't use it often but mobile signal is poor in the middle rooms of our house, it works in power cuts (sometimes the mobile transmitter goes down too) and it was useful when the DCs were old enough to be left at home for short periods but didn't yet have their own mobiles. We are on TPS and have a screening / number blocking handset so no junk calls.

I've elderly relatives in another country and they prefer to use landlines.

Also, mobile reception is intermittent in my house, I have to wave my phone around outside to get texts to send, and often miss calls in the house.

So I'll be keeping my landline.

We do. We have very little mobile reception and wifi calling doesnt work very well either.
