Terrible language is fine here. It's very theraputic
It is the lack of big picture and transparancy that is unnerving.
Phase 1, lock down then phased reopening until recently. Whatever your views about the practicalities, there was a message of supressing the curve to keep the NHS coping, and very few would disagree with the underlying goal. No one wanted scenes of people dying untended in the corridors.
But what now? We clearly don't want another massive surge, more exponential growth and back towards 1000 deaths per day and ITU staff working relentlessly.
But what are the goals and thresholds? With general cases so low across the majority of the country, what is the distinction between a localised blip and a genuine, worrying uptick in cases. A clear rationale would be much better than random threats of what liberties could be taken away.
Some people without specific physical concerns are still too terrified to leave their homes after over 4 months, even when people who were shielding are advised to go out (with care). Some people didn't give a fuck from the start. Most are somewhere in between, trying to be more careful about it and don't need terrifying into submission.
