Just because I know you all love a live threadGrin
And also because I promised updates to @notthemum, @pickingdaisies, @RandomMess and @Umberta!

37+0 today. I'm due to get the plaster off my broken ankle tomorrow, been looking forward to it all week and then I had a small gush of liquid this afternoon. Then another, bigger one an hour later, with what was probably my mucus plug.

My hospital bag was packed but I'd bought a load of new stuff in the sale last week so emptied it all out yesterday to wash and start again. DH watching me, rolling his eyes, telling me to "stop acting like I'm going to give birth tomorrow".

Ha! I'll never let him forget that one!!!

Haven't had any contractions yet, bar a couple of minor twinges this morning that went away with painkillers. I'm still on anticoagulants for my foot so just on my way to hospital now to see what the score is and if they'll let me attempt a vbac or if it's going to be another c section.

Wish me luck!

That sounds tough @mamansnet. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that things start moving for you. Either way you'll be getting to meet you baby very soon which is very exciting!

kersh33 · 31/07/2020 11:52

And I completely sympathise re the heat. I haven't had a proper nights sleep in about 4 weeks as I'm suffering from horrible night sweats due to the heat and no air con. Sending you some nice chilled virtual rose to keep you going until you can move onto the real stuff!

mamansnet · 31/07/2020 12:08

Sorry for the pity party before. Just exhausted after a long night.

Ortho are afraid my ankle might not be sufficiently healed yet - the original operation was in a different hospital where I was supposed to get the cast removed this morning, arghhh and this place doesn't want to risk me putting any weight on it until it's been thoroughly checked over. I said, stick me in stirrups and I promise to stay off it! You can put it back in a cast right after baby arrives - just GIVE ME MY LEG BACK! But no.

Nothing's happening, they could have taken me off to check it over but hey, what do I know.

Baby's heartbeat is strong, all fine on that score. Just waiting to see what the plan is re induction so I can have a nap and a shower before it all starts.

The good news is that DH and our builder friend finished the nursery together this morning, the new cleaning lady is on her way to tidy up after them and a friend has come over to do the ironing for us. So DH is now completely free to come and hold my hand and bring more chocolate Grin

I hope the chocolate is prompt in its arrival and wine is on standby for later.

Good luck!

icebearforpresident · 31/07/2020 13:43

Sending good vibes your way @mamansnet, sorry the cast couldn’t come off.

TheFoz · 31/07/2020 13:44

There’s nothing like a challenge, eh! Here’s to unmelted chocolate 🍫

tinatsarina · 31/07/2020 13:58

Any updates? Did you get your chocolate?

Kpo58 · 31/07/2020 14:18

I hope DH has been keeping the chocolate in the fridge prior to getting to you or you'll be drinking it out of the packet today.

Greyblueeyes · 31/07/2020 14:21

I hate that you can't get your cast off, OP! How miserable. Now have a talk with that sweet baby and tell her to get a move on so you can avoid a c-section Wink enjoy the chocolates!

perfumeistooexpensive · 31/07/2020 14:27

What an absolute nuisance that they won't take the cast off. I gave birth on the hottest day of the year. When DD was born they dressed her in just a nappy as it was too hot for clothes.

notthemum · 31/07/2020 16:25

Any movement my lovely ? You can do this (see my last thread)
You know how strong you are. Wish I could be there for you. 💐🍷🍸🍹🍧🍨🍫🍩. So sorry about bloody plaster cast. Probably can't be any use at all but am here. MN Mum xx

mamansnet · 31/07/2020 21:04

Thanks mum 🥰

Perfume that's interesting... should be a bit colder tomorrow, certainly hope so as her first outfit has a motif on related to her name. Hope she gets to wear it!

Midwife has just been in to say that they'll "make a decision" tomorrow morning at 8.30. The plan is to inflate 2 balloons in my cervix and leave them for up to 12 hours to see if it kicks things off and then I can have my vbac.

The cervix needs to be slightly open for the procedure and I'm pretty sure it's clamped shut. So everything pointing towards a sodding C section tomorrow. But there's still time I guess.

The good news is that they will take the cast off my leg as soon as DD arrives, so it won't be on for too much longer.

Also, hospital policy here is to keep you in for 5 nights after a section (I ❤️ France) but they've said they won't kick me out right away if I'm struggling with the section scar + ankle. If I need to stay in a couple of days longer then I can. Very reassured to hear that.

In any case, I've told the doctors that I'm currently feeling in a fragile state of mind because of everything these last few weeks, and they said I did the right thing in letting them know. It's all very gently-gently and they are listening to me.

And it really helps having you lot right behind me once again!

DH has just gone home. The house is now ready for the big arrival. And he brought me a chocolate yoghurt, a melon, clean clothes, and a big bar of Lindt to get me through the night.

Just one more heartbeat monitoring session to do then I can try to get some sleep before meeting my baby daughter (hopefully!) tomorrow...🤱

notthemum · 31/07/2020 21:32

I can't wait to find out her name and all the lovely things about her. Will be a pain staying in hospital but they do seem considerably better at looking after you there than they are here and you need to get as much rest as you can.
Try and get some sleep tonight honey (not stay on MN all night if you can help it 😉) cos you will need all your strength for tomorrow. I shall set my alarm for the morning so I will be awake to hear what is happening. 💐🍹

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 31/07/2020 21:41

Thinking of you Maman. It will all be worth it when to hold her in your arms.

CrockyBetter · 31/07/2020 21:42

@mamansnet and @notthemum do you two know each other IRL

mamansnet · 31/07/2020 21:59

@CrockyBetter no, but I adopted notthemum as my MN mother after she took such good care of me on another thread!

OP posts:
kersh33 · 01/08/2020 02:14

Keeping everything crossed that things kick off for you @mamansnet. It sounds like they are doing what they can to allow things to progress naturally. Tomorrow will be a special day as you get to meet your daughter. ❤️

mamansnet · 01/08/2020 06:53

Cervix is closed. I have an hour to get the show on the road or it'll be another section.

Can't face surgery again so soon after my ankle.

OP posts:
kersh33 · 01/08/2020 08:04

Sorry to hear that @mamansnet. It's definitely been a tough pregnancy for you. What are the rules around your DH - will he be able to come into theatre with you?

20NewNames · 01/08/2020 08:05

Bonne Chance OP!!

I don’t know your backstory but I desperately didn’t want a second section but a planned one under spinal was so so much better experience than the crash one under general.

You will meet your baby girl today!!! How exciting!

mamansnet · 01/08/2020 08:24

I feel so detached from it all. I've had so much going on that I don't feel in the slightest bit ready or excited.

OP posts:
notthemum · 01/08/2020 08:26

I am here. 💐. Morning my darling. Oh what a bugger for you. Keeping fingers crossed 🤞.
Will be around all day. Littlest gs for a few hours later so will have to have a big clear up so that he can come in and wreck everything within 5 minutes. 🍷🍫 Before anyone shouts at me I know it's too early for wine and chocolate (so thanks for your input) but this is an emergency.

notthemum · 01/08/2020 08:34

You have had a lousy time honey, it is going to get better soon, you are ready and everyone is excited for you. It will come, I think it's just the waiting now.
MN Mum x

CrockyBetter · 01/08/2020 08:36

I hope all goes well today. Are you French or just living in France? Have you chosen a French name for your baby?

mamansnet · 01/08/2020 08:40

Thanks mum. I've been online and picked out what I want for my long-awaited, massive sushi feast tonight.

@CrockyBetter originally from the UK but met my DH here and never went home. Still blame him for that. The name is bilingual!

He's on his way. Still no sign of the doc.
