Just because I know you all love a live threadGrin
And also because I promised updates to @notthemum, @pickingdaisies, @RandomMess and @Umberta!

37+0 today. I'm due to get the plaster off my broken ankle tomorrow, been looking forward to it all week and then I had a small gush of liquid this afternoon. Then another, bigger one an hour later, with what was probably my mucus plug.

My hospital bag was packed but I'd bought a load of new stuff in the sale last week so emptied it all out yesterday to wash and start again. DH watching me, rolling his eyes, telling me to "stop acting like I'm going to give birth tomorrow".

Ha! I'll never let him forget that one!!!

Haven't had any contractions yet, bar a couple of minor twinges this morning that went away with painkillers. I'm still on anticoagulants for my foot so just on my way to hospital now to see what the score is and if they'll let me attempt a vbac or if it's going to be another c section.

Wish me luck!

Just checking in on you Maman before I go to bed. Shall be awake for a while though so message if you need me.
Honestly What am I going to do with you ? Fancy leaving chocolate in your bag. Thank goodness for Bobbypins,
A couple of us have still been on the old thread so if you are bored and still have it you could nip o er there and have a look.
DP has been home all this week. Ffs. He has had a bad foot and is being a pain. Good job he is going back to work on Monday.
Hope MIL enjoyed the flowers and was suitably grateful. MNMum

Ooh lovely! I had a shortlist of 5. Then someone made a good point about the flow of names, I made my mind up a couple of days before, but was so close to meeting her that I thought I’d keep it secret and check it suited her, it did, she knew her name before anyone other than me! Everyone knew she was a girl, lots of people knew my shortlist, one or two knew that I’d chosen The One, nobody knew which one until I met her. I think it's nice to save the name as a surprise when the gender is already known, but to each their own.
Good luck.

Mum the chocolate wasn't even in the bag - I got DH to leave it next to me on my table. That's how much the needle hurt - I couldn't even reach that far!!

Truth be told, I think I've had so many needles in me these last few weeks between my ankle and the pregnancy that I'm just at the end of my tether with physical pain, no matter how small. But the idea of having a needle in my wrist, when it's my wrists carrying my entire body weight on the Zimmer frame, was pretty stressful.

They're going to get the orthopaedic surgeon to see me first thing to try to get the cast off, then they'll probably induce me about 4pm. And then the real pain fun begins.

I can't believe she's nearly here. I'm not ready!!! 🙈

Ooo. So excited for you @mamansnet fingers crossed you get the plaster off

itsamadmadworld · 30/07/2020 22:59

So excited for you!! Hope it all goes well for you!

notthemum · 30/07/2020 23:02

Oh no, my poor girl.
You can however do this you are an amazingly strong and resilient woman considering what you have had to put up with the last few weeks and the bloody years before that.
Definitely more controlled than I could of ever been.
You are indeed ready for your beautiful little one ( and although they are a PITA) the sooner she arrives the sooner the PILs will be there and the GOOD news, the sooner they will be able to bugger off.
Will keep the bubbly on ice for her arrival and for when they go home. 😉🍷🍧 MNMum x

Pretty sure contractions are starting. Bit they're so mild! I can feel every movement the baby makes now there's no fluid. It's keeping me awake. Might ring for the midwife...

OP posts:
redastherose · 31/07/2020 02:05

Ring for the midwife see if they can make you more comfortable then try and rest as best you can. Good luck.

mamansnet · 31/07/2020 02:22

Thanks rose!

They're frequent but irregular and nowhere near as uncomfortable/painful as my usual period pains. Midwife said try to sleep (!) and to call when they get more painful.

It's going to be a long night...

Good luck @mamansnet ! I'll also be going through the French system for my birth ( hopefully in around 5 weeks time) so will be very interested in seeing how things develop for you. Smile Are you going the epidural route? I am trying to go without which everyone keeps telling me is "so different" and that I'm "very brave" which is a bit off putting!! But it is much rarer here than in UK. Currently on sofa lying in a towel trying to survive the stupid heat as it's a bit cooler in our lounge.
managedmis · 31/07/2020 02:37

Was it you that was living with your belle-mère?

managedmis · 31/07/2020 02:37

Bonne chance, BTW 🙂

mamansnet · 31/07/2020 02:38

Hi kersch, remember you from the lockdown thread!

Yeah, I'm one hand I'm glad to not be pregnant through the month of August but am bummed to be going through labour on the day it's forecast to be 39 degrees.

Am planning to go with the epidural but when I had DS and my broken ankle reset last month I randomly ended up with a spinal block instead. Asked for gas and air for my foot though, the intravenous drugs weren't working so they gave me the mask and it was faaaabulous! I was happily stoned with seconds and promised to name DD after the anaesthetist Hmm(luckily it was a woman!)

Not living, but staying with. For 22 long days.

Only got home on Monday. Waters broke 72 hours later - that was close!

OP posts:
Greyblueeyes · 31/07/2020 03:42

Good luck! I'm excited for you! I remember your last thread. You have had a tough pregnancy!

CrockyBetter · 31/07/2020 07:20

Puuuuuush

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 31/07/2020 08:32

Thinking of you Maman, came on first thing to check on you! Good luck today.

mamansnet · 31/07/2020 08:55

Ah bless, thank you!!

Contractions stopped at 6am so I've had a whole hour's sleep 😍

Nobody told me that after your waters break, you continue to leak fluid right up to the birth! I thought it was one, maybe two big flushes of fluid then empty. But oh no. That came as a shock!

Just waiting to hear if they can take my plaster off now. Might get some shuteye while I still can...

OP posts:
Cherrytangfastic · 31/07/2020 08:58

Oooh exciting! Good luck Grin

TheFoz · 31/07/2020 09:23

Best of luck OP, I was following your ‘other’ thread! So glad you are the other side of it!

spiderlight · 31/07/2020 09:42

Oooh, best of luck! I hope they take your plaster off in time.

mamansnet · 31/07/2020 09:58

Orthopaedics have said no to taking the plaster off before the birth.

I understand why and no doubt it's for the best but this is not good news. It's been 6 weeks, my foot is swollen in the heat and I need the bastard thing to be gone.

Doc also says my cervix is still long and closed so they'll induce me this afternoon and if nothing happens within 48 hours it'll be a c section, which I've been trying desperately to avoid, given my ankle problems.

I've done my homework so I know what they're telling me but I'm just not sure I've got enough strength for this. The last 6 weeks have just been too much all at the same time. I've had almost no sleep and today is the hottest day of the year.

Send wine please, lovely MNetters

OP posts:
TheFoz · 31/07/2020 11:27

🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷 all the wine!

Why did ortho say no to taking the cast off? I’m sure it must be driving you mad? Are you able to walk about with your frame, it might encourage baby to move!
