Deliveries:- Anyone else had this?

Since lockdown I've (like many of us) had quite a lot of deliveries from various sources. We're shielding my dh and all delivery companies are happy to leave the item on the doorstep and I shout thanks through the door.

EXCEPT DPD! They insist on taking a photograph of me! They won't let me be photographed through the window. I have to open the door while the stand back and take my photo! Quite often I've been woken up and this is the last thing I could do with.

What possesses them to think this is in anyway an acceptable idea? Or am I just ridiculous and everyone else thinks it's fine?

I got sent an email from them telling me about an upcoming delivery and I was able to opt to stick a note to door explaining we were shielding, but the delivery driver laughed and said it didn't work like that. Took my photo!

I got an email from dpd to review them on trustpilot and I very firmly and politely complained.

Anyone else had this with dpd?

Fwiw it's always the same driver.

Thanks!

Just checked mine- lots of blurry pictures of parcels in the door way next to my odd socks! 🤣

@gamerchick

They have to do it because you can't sign for it. It's the prove its been delivered to the right place.

Honestly, this thread. Poor drivers having to do as they are told or get disciplined for it Hmm

@gamerchick if you read my posts I'm not blaming the drivers I'm blaming dpd. It is only dpd who do this. Others, including, the Royal Mail, leave it on the step, and I talk to them through the door.

@ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords

We won't ask you to sign for your parcel, we'll take a photo of it instead in your open doorway as proof it has been delivered. If you're self isolating, leave a signed note on your door, telling us where to put the parcel.

This is what it says on the emails I have had about deliveries by DPD, so it shouldn't need you in the photo.

I saw this, wrote a note, signed, taped it to the door. The driver then read the note, laughed and said it doesn't work like that. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well it would definitely be fine if only my feet were in the photo. It would be helpful if he said so though. We've discussed it enough!

I did read your posts. It's doesn't matter.

The drivers have to take a photo to prove they've delivered. It doesn't matter how other companies do it.

If you're having bother with 1 particular driver then ring the depot and tell them his attitude is making you feel uncomfortable. But the photo taking of your parcel will carry on.
