That’s because it’s not To Be or Not to Be @VictoriousSockPuppet. This one was a bigger hit than that.

VictoriousSockPuppet · 28/07/2020 19:05

So happy to be wrong... been trying to shoe-horn hose those lyrics in and failing.

Sorry, but I can't think what his other hits were, will have to leave this for someone else.

Ignored the dreams, too many lies
Somewhere deep inside, somewhere deep inside me
I found, the child I used to be
And I know that it's not too late

80's and early 00's. I'll be impressed if someone gets this one GrinWink

When your heart has been broken
Hard words have been spoken
It ain't easy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

And if your life ain't worth livin'
And you're ready to give in

That'll be It's Only Love (And That's All) by Bryan Adams, can't remember who the female vocalist was though and it's bugging me!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 28/07/2020 20:40

@SimplySteveRedux Correct, and it was Tina Turner 😁

And he walked away, but his smile never dimmed
It said, I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him

TwigTheWonderKid · 28/07/2020 21:02

@ThatLibraryMiss your last one is Papa Dont Preach by Madonna

ThatLibraryMiss · 28/07/2020 21:04

Correct @TwigTheWonderKid, and there's a theme connecting it to the other two (vaguely).

CoffeeBeansGalore · 28/07/2020 21:08

@Willow2017 You are welcome, and correct 👍😊

OP posts:
CoffeeBeansGalore · 28/07/2020 21:18

@ThatLibraryMiss I'm guessing then that the link is fsther/papa?

OP posts:
CoffeeBeansGalore · 28/07/2020 21:19

Doh 🙄 *father

OP posts:
ThatLibraryMiss · 28/07/2020 21:30

Yes, CoffeeBeansGalore, they're all songs about fathers. Got either of the others?

CoffeeBeansGalore · 28/07/2020 21:42

The 70s one is ringing bells with a tune in my head but I can't grasp it at the moment. Someone will post and I will be kicking myself 😁

The 80s one I'm totally blank. Was it a chart topper?

OP posts:
ThatLibraryMiss · 28/07/2020 21:46

Not a chart topper in the UK, but it did get played. It was one of the singer-songwriter's best known.

Willow2017 · 28/07/2020 21:53

And he walked away, but his smile never dimmed
It said, I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him

That's 'Cats in the cradle'
Harry something?

NeedToKnow101 · 28/07/2020 22:11

I don't know any of these.. here's an 80s one:

A small boy once asked, When will I grow up
When will I see what grownups do see
In his fight to come of age, he would have to know the age

NeedToKnow101 · 28/07/2020 22:13

There is a blue one who can't accept the green one
For living with a fat one trying to be a skinny one
And different strokes for different folks
And so on and so on and scooby dooby doo

Oh sha sha we got to live together

And this ^^ was Everyday People, Sly and the Family Stone
