Looks like some clues are needed for these two.

The first is indie/Britpop. The group had a few minor hits - this was their only big one.

The second - hmm - I somehow doubt anyone remembers this as I think if you do know it the lyrics would be very recognisable. Male, Scottish singer - he had a few, sort of not quite novelty - maybe you’d call them humorous pop hits late 70s/early 80s. When I looked this one up the other day it said 1980 but it seems it was actually 1979 (though I doubt everyone will now know it because of that piece of information!). Apparently he co-wrote The Living Years.

Both songs got to number 2 in the U.K. chart.

The 90s one is Slight Return by The Bluetones.
