I think there is a difference between those who started school in the mud 70s and those who were at secondary in the 70s. Names like Debbie and Jackie and Linda were the earlier lot I think.

High school years 1972-79, so I think I fit your demographic. Obviously, my primary school years were those immediately preceding.
There were 7 Amandas, 3 Susans and 3 Joanne/Joannas in my form. Other popular names there were: Jacqueline, Caroline, Michelle and Alison. It was an all girls school. My 2 brothers were just older & just younger than me & their friends’ names were: Ian, Thomas, David, Jonathan, Keith, Philip, Neil, Simon, Colin, Andrew, Gary, Adrian, Jeremy.
