If you were at school in the 1970s, what were some of your classmates names. I think they will be the next names to make a comeback.

I was born in the 70’s, so primary school in the 80’s, and everyone had new testament / christian saints names. But that could have the result of Catholic schooling.

In my year at secondary school, out of approximately 70 girls, there were five Sharons, four Joannes and three Karens. Out of a similar number of boys, there were at least four Pauls, four Andrews, & three Kevins.

Fascinating how you can age people by their names. My mum was born in 1940, her classmates had names like Doris, Maureen and Joan and My ds is 55, her friends were Michelle, Carol and Sharon, Darren and David My ds is 14 he knows Lily, Iris and Martha, Beau, Kai and Frankie. I was at primary till 74. Mine was full of Jackies and Sharons. Nigel and Geoffrey were the most popular boys names.

I suppose it's the same for every generation, but not many of my generation's names look appealing baby names.

That’s my generation. All girls school, absolutely loads of Jos - variations on Joanna, Joanne, Josephine. There were 5 Jos in my class! Quite a few Claire / Clares, Julie /Julias, Catherine /Kathleens and a decent smattering of Michelle’s.
Oddly, I didn’t know many Emmas or Karens but meet many women my age now with those names.
