To think the Princess Beatrice photos released by e RF are a bit naff?

I love a good Royal wedding I do and was looking forward to seeing the portrait pictures of Beatrice at Buckingham Palace like we have with other royal weddings.

So was disappointed that this is what the RF have released news.sky.com/story/princess-beatrice-wedding-first-photos-from-ceremony-show-royal-in-queens-dress-and-tiara-12031462

I'd love to say she looks gorgeous, and I'm sure she does but I can't tell! Is it just me who thinks they look like they've been taken with an iPhone from afar by a fan in a bush or something?

It’s funny what people think of as big. Indians or Greeks 100 guests would most likely be seen as an embarrassment. I had 100 at my engagement (which I had to have) & I’ve not heard the end of it 25+ years later.

My cousin couple of years back had 3000. I love that cultures are so different. I would have loved a small wedding but would have pissed off too many people.

lufcaregoingup · 19/07/2020 10:50

I think they look fab. Did the best out of the situation with everything going on. As long as they like them is all that matters.

Toptotoeunicolour · 19/07/2020 10:50

Not normally a fan of the royals but I love the fact that her granny lent her such a beautiful dress and a special tiara and that they have done it all low key and quickly. Feel sorry for her with such a knob of a father so having Covid to plan around was actually quite convenient.

She looks gorgeous and so happy, it's been rumoured for years she's very close to her nan. I wouldn't be surprised if she's happy her wedding has been more quiet and hasn't had the press fanfare. The Queen looks so happy, it's a lovely photo

ArticFreeze · 19/07/2020 10:54

I think they are lovely photos. It shows that Beatrice must be very close to her grandmother. She wore a vintage dress belonging to the Queen, the same tiara the Queen wore on her wedding day and the only group photo to be released was with her grandparents. I think that’s very touching.

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/07/2020 10:55

Your thread is a bit naff. Fortunately there are plenty of more classy comments on it to drown out the nastiness.

Probably the perfect wedding for the family. Such lovely touches from HMQ.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 19/07/2020 11:01

To clarify - although I did think it was quite clear in my OP - I'm not criticising anything but the fact that the picture simply isn't that clear. I love that she wore HMQ's dress and tiara and would have loved to see it in more detail but it's obscured mostly in both pictures. A close up would have been nice (yes yes social distancing but most people are aware that cameras have zoomed lenses).

I feel sorry for Beatrice, I expect she'd have loved a lavish public wedding but her father's true nature and his bumbling lies being exposed at the wrong time potentially stopped her plans in their tracks.

Perhaps the reason they are standing well apart from the Queen and Prince Philip is that it's jolly sensible to maintain a safe distance from one's extremely elderly grandparents. Not to "make a point" Hmm

Toptotoeunicolour · 19/07/2020 11:06

I think that's the loveliest wedding dress I've seen in a very long time and she looks gorgeous.

MyOldBeansy · 19/07/2020 11:09

Lovely photos, lovely dress and stunning tiara. I thought the flowers used were absolutely perfect and were so flattering to her tanned/auburn colouring.

They looked very happy.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 19/07/2020 11:15

I think they are lovely and to use the dress and tiara and not spend thousands again was a lovely touch. They look very happy.

I much much prefer small intimate weddings rather than the whole “brides big day” though and it must be nice for the queen to attend such a private family event and not have to share it with the world.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 19/07/2020 11:18

Soooooooooooooooooo... one of those royal women, so hated by the press, and MNers it seems, chooses to get wed in hand me downs, cheaply, without all the fuss and fanfare, whilst her fuckwit of a father is doing whatever it is he is doing, or not doing, and look! you still fucking hate on her!

Grow up, maybe?

willloman · 19/07/2020 11:21

I think they are delightful. Good on them, a small, delicately done family wedding. Than goodness Nanna could lend a chapel, dress, and tiara! But seriously, well done them and much happiness in the future.

Pipandmum · 19/07/2020 11:21

Wedding photos are quite naff by definition. I thought they looked nice and has no idea they had got married until I saw them this morning.

TeaSoakedDisasterMagnet · 19/07/2020 11:22

I think she looks so beautiful. The dress is a gorgeous Rework of HMQ’s dress, and the sleeves give it a similar silhouette to her own mum’s wedding dress. Her hair is all big and blowy and looks totally romantic princess.

I think this is how all royal weddings should be, just full of beauty and romance, and no showboating and endless seas of soldiers in fancy coats.

TeaSoakedDisasterMagnet · 19/07/2020 11:23

Also, I really think the York princesses got their weddings right, just the right amount of flowers and unique dresses etc, compared to the Wales prince’s weddings that felt a lot more pomp and ceremony.

CormoranStrike · 19/07/2020 11:26

I think they are lovely

VodselForDinner · 19/07/2020 11:30

Want to post your wedding pics, OP, and we can all have a little critique?

mencken · 19/07/2020 11:31

nice bit of recycling and good to see a bride who doesn't look like a toilet roll cover. And one who looks happy - which is the idea...

interesting history on that frock - there's a great pic online of HMQ wearing it to state opening of parliament. Beatrice is clearly a bit taller and not as tiny as HMQ was but it still looks good. You can see all the detail you want in the historical pictures.

best of luck to them.

manicinsomniac · 19/07/2020 11:33

Aww, this OP makes me a bit sad and I didn't even know Beatrice was engaged/married until I saw the BBC site this morning so I'm a long way from a Royal follower! I thought the end of the thread title (can't see the whole thing until you open it) was going to be about how lovely the photos were. Not sure how anyone can think they're bad ones.

Beatrice has had a lot of criticism in the past about her appearance and I think both she and her dress are beautiful in these pictures. I love the one of her and her husband coming out of the church with the flowers over it. And the one with the queen is lovely because the queen is looking at Beatrice with love and happiness. It looks like a natural, joyful photo despite the difficult circumstances of a lockdown wedding.

milveycrohn · 19/07/2020 11:34

I think they are setting a wonderful example. ie It is the marriage that counts, not the wedding day.
Their wedding was within the Government guidelines of a max number of guests of (how ever many?).
They may have had a photographer, but remember a photographer will count towards their number.
They will have taken lots more photographs, but these are just the ones they have released to the public.
I think Princess Beatrice looks lovely, and who knows, maybe she prefers the opportunity to have a smaller wedding. The picture that included the Queen and PP were within the Social Distancing rules, which is why they are standing apart.
I think they have done very well, and frankly, I for one, am relieved they omitted the usual wedding circus. They have shown it can be done, and done well.
It is possible, they may have a fancy reception at a later date to include all the friends they omitted, but if it had been me, I would be glad of the opportunity to scale back.

dangerrabbit · 19/07/2020 11:34

A beautiful and understated (for the royals) wedding. Liked the reuse of the dress and tiara and the released photos. They looked genuinely happy.

pipnchops · 19/07/2020 11:34

Well I think the photos are lovely, they all look very happy and I hope they had a fab day and have a wonderful marriage. We had 11 guests at our wedding 8 years ago and it couldn't have been more perfect.

Abraid2 · 19/07/2020 11:36

That dress really suits her. You can see how beautiful the fabric is by the way it drapes.

I hope she'll be very happy.

Abraid2 · 19/07/2020 11:37

Yes, let's hope this ushers in a wave of weddings with less ostenatious behaviour and need for hen weekends, vast expenditure, etc.

Quieter and classier.
