To think the Princess Beatrice photos released by e RF are a bit naff?

I love a good Royal wedding I do and was looking forward to seeing the portrait pictures of Beatrice at Buckingham Palace like we have with other royal weddings.

So was disappointed that this is what the RF have released news.sky.com/story/princess-beatrice-wedding-first-photos-from-ceremony-show-royal-in-queens-dress-and-tiara-12031462

I'd love to say she looks gorgeous, and I'm sure she does but I can't tell! Is it just me who thinks they look like they've been taken with an iPhone from afar by a fan in a bush or something?

Pic of the original dress as worn by the queen.

I think they were lovely photos. If she couldn't compete with her sister's massive wedding due to a long list of reasons, this was the best way. I wonder if she secretly wanted this all along. I might be biased though, I had a rushed wedding ceremony with a second hand dress and 12 friends for a pub lunch afterwards!

kingdomcapers · 19/07/2020 09:41

I think lockdown and social distancing did them a big favour to have a pared down wedding without any comparison to previous Royal Wedding's and her DF's wrongdoings bringing the world press for all the wrong reasons. I think they just wanted to be married, so many people focus on the bells and whistles of one single day they forget that after the wedding comes a marriage.
I also hope that shopping Granny's wardrobe means we might see some of the other younger Royals in some vintage gowns. There must be some stunners squirrelled away.

I wish Beatrice and her husband a lifetime of happiness together.

What’s not to like about beautiful roses around the church, and looking lovely in her Grandmother’s dress and tiara?

My idea of naff is Katie Price marrying Peter Andre in something pink rustled up from the Brentford Nylon’s reject bin!

Imissmoominmama · 19/07/2020 09:44

The dress and tiara are stunning and the couple look really happy!

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 19/07/2020 09:44

the original date was end of May and that was proving awkward, so this was a fantastic compromise , and a far better result.

agree that many should take a leaf out of her book, vintage/second hand dress, more low key weddings.

vinoandbrie · 19/07/2020 09:47

I think she looked amazing, and that it was all just so - stylish and beyond reproach.

She’s done brilliantly to pull this off, as the circumstances, both with Covid, and with her family, neither of which are her fault, must have had to factor into her planning quite significantly. Good on her.

Rainbunny · 19/07/2020 09:47

I think the photos are fine and as others have said, very in keeping with responsible social distancing, of which the Queen will be conscious of setting a good example. I think that's why there won't be any posed family alltogether pictures this time, not to mention that I think the RF will be determined to keep any pictures of PA out of the press. He needs to be invisible for a looooong time! They can't afford to have pictures of him smugly posing at his daughter's wedding like nothing is wrong.

Frazzled2207 · 19/07/2020 09:47

I think she looks lovely and am very happy for her. The pic of them peeking outside the church is lovely. The one with Her Majesty and Phil 2 m apart is a bit odd, assume that is make a point that they were following the “rules”.
Hope they had a lovely day

CigarsofthePharoahs · 19/07/2020 09:50

I think they both look very happy.

CallmeAngelina · 19/07/2020 09:50

Yes, but did you see the footage/pics from his subsequent wedding to Emily? Absolutely gorgeous (and very classy).

@TheVanguardSix

I think they're beautiful. I think they're the absolute opposite of naff. It's refreshing to see a real wedding, one without Oprah, showboating, and void of bells and whistles. Low key, beautiful, classy. It's clearly about them wanting to just have an intimate, beautiful celebration. I think socially distanced weddings give people a brilliant excuse to have the wedding they really want.
A real wedding? unlike all the other royal weddings then? What a daft comment.
Rockbird · 19/07/2020 10:02

Lovely photos, beautiful dress and tiara. A lovely touch from grandma.

She and Eugenie are treated horribly by the press just because of who their parents are. I hope she's very happy, she looks it.

Splodgetastic · 19/07/2020 10:09

The vintage dress looks lovely on her. She’s had her fair share of fashion mistakes, so it’s nice to see her go classic!

feelingverylazytoday · 19/07/2020 10:10

It looks like a nice family wedding. It was a lovely gesture to not take the shine off Captain Tom Moore receiving his knighthood.
It was also cool to recycle one of the queen's dresses. That dress is 59 years old, it must have been kept very carefully.

8misskitty8 · 19/07/2020 10:26

Some of the comments on this are horrible.
‘Grinning idiots ‘ is she not allowed to smile on her wedding day ?

The wedding was in Windsor so they couldn’t do Buckingham palace photos. Also social distancing due to covid 19.
The photos are lovely, she didn’t have to release any photos to the public.

TurquoiseDress · 19/07/2020 10:33

I think the photos are lovely, the dress looks perfect for her, was great to read that the Queen originally wore it in the early 60s, plus Beatrice wore her wedding tiara too.

Am certain they did lots of non-socially distanced family photos together which weren't released...can you imagine the media drama if they weren't all socially distancing?? Then that would have been the media focus!

MaeDanvers · 19/07/2020 10:34

She looks lovely and very happy. Hopefully, she had an amazing day.

TurquoiseDress · 19/07/2020 10:35

I think Beatrice's wedding dress & tiara have shown that she has taste when it matters, putting all her previous fashion disasters into a distant memory!

SoupDragon · 19/07/2020 10:36

The one with Her Majesty and Phil 2 m apart is a bit odd, assume that is make a point that they were following the “rules”.

I assume it is because they wanted a photo with her grandparents in it and this is how it had to be done. Why assume it is to "make a point"?

dottiedodah · 19/07/2020 10:36

The dress was a Norman Hartnell number apparently, and a favourite of the Queens .I think the photos are great ! Really low key and reflecting the times we are in ATM .Big weddings are great too(we had over 100 at ours in the 80s!) But with only 20 guests it must have been an intimate affair and quite cosy!

anon444877 · 19/07/2020 10:38

I thought the photos lovely and the whole thing making the best of various bad situations, I loved that she wore her DGM’s dress. Yabu...

thebees · 19/07/2020 10:39

They seem lovely to me, and glad to see an old dress being re-used.

I feel a small amount of sadness for anyone unable to have a normal wedding day, and for Beatrice given her father's alleged behaviour.

dottiedodah · 19/07/2020 10:40

Also just realised she got married on our Anniversary! (Thought her wedding was yesterday for some reason. Great day to choose !

Grandmi · 19/07/2020 10:49

I actually think the pics are lovely . I love the flowers and she really does look genuinely happy.
