Am I weird for contemplating this? Just so tired, fantasising about some peace and quiet and a decent sleep!

Now I think I understand why people delay retirement, apart from financial reasons of course. I used to work with a woman years ago, before I got married, who always took different annual leave from her husband and didn't tell him she was off!! After 4 months of living in each other's pockets I now understand why!!

I still think fondly of the first time my ex had pur children for the whole bank holiday weekend. I booked myself into a hotel for three nights, close enough not to be a faff to drive to but not near enough to allow me to come back easily.
Oh. My. God. It was amazing. I'd looked up some stuff to do but ended up just meeting a friend who lived nearby for lunch and then remained in the hotel room the entire rest of the time. Ordered room service so didn't even venture down to the restaurant.

I'd saved up. It was my holiday and it was amazing. Just silence. Silence, food to my door, amazing bed and bubble baths. If you can manage it I would heartily heartily reccomend. I felt like a new woman

You've just reminded me of the baby/toddler days.. I used to sit and fantasise about having a night in a hotel room alone Blush

Did you book it OP?

I owe you a huge thank you because your thread inspired me to book myself two nights away in a couple of weeks and I am GIDDY with excitement! Free standing bath, rainforest shower (I booked a suite) massage, room service and gallons on wine. It feels like Christmas and that’s just the anticipation!
