Night alone in a hotel

Am I weird for contemplating this? Just so tired, fantasising about some peace and quiet and a decent sleep!

Oh god yes, I need this too.

I have had 4 hours, grand total, alone in the house since lockdown started in March.

Alone time nowdays is the drive to the supermarket 10 minutes down the road 😂

Disfordarkchocolate · 14/07/2020 19:22

Why can't we vote. I bet it would be 100% YARBU.

If I wasn't unwell I could sell a kidney for this.

Bluepolkadots42 · 14/07/2020 19:24

Not weird at all- I was just saying to friends this afternoon I would give my right arm for a weekend away on my own!

Drivingdownthe101 · 14/07/2020 19:26

I did this once. DD2 had just started taking a bottle after nearly a year of breastfeeding all night, every night.
I bought my favourite food from m&s, a bottle of wine and booked myself into a nearby (nice) hotel. Had a drink alone in the bar then ate in my room, had a long bath, watched a film and slept. Blissful sleep. Quick swim in the hotel pool in the morning then went home.
That was 4 years ago and haven’t managed to do it again since but I will!

Hillbillyhotel · 14/07/2020 19:33

Not at all! This is my ‘ideal gift’,I genuinely dream of it!

BirthdayCakes · 14/07/2020 19:38

Yep - I've been searching for a suitable hotel.. Not too fancy/not too cheap and by the sea..

ChiaraRimini · 14/07/2020 19:53

I think it's more relaxing to send the DP/kids away and have the house to yourself. As PP have said you can blitz the place, enjoy your home comforts in peace and then when they get back the house isn't trashed. But maybe that's just me. My older DC are away ATL and the house has never been so clean and restful.

Sexnotgender · 14/07/2020 19:55

Go!!! Just make sure your room has a fridge 😊 drink expensive wine and take a bath in peace.

Coldhandscoldheart · 14/07/2020 19:57

About a year ago I was really unwell, hospital unwell. They got me feeling much better very quickly. Enough that I sort of enjoyed the night I spent on the ward, I had a bed to myself, and it was quiet, and someone brought me breakfast 😳 I felt like a right fraud. God it was so good though!

Grandmi · 14/07/2020 20:03

Birthday cake ..if you live in the south I recommend the White Horse at Rottingdean. It’s on the cliff with rooms with balcony facing the sea !! It’s not stupidly expensive but not cheap. It’s my place to escape too at times . Pretty Village and beach one minute walk away.

Ginormarse · 14/07/2020 20:14

Last summer hols DH took the 3 kids away camping for 3 nights. I couldn't go as I had to work. In the evening I could come home from work, take my shoes off and straight away sit down with a cup of tea!! The house was tidy, I didn't have to spend an hour picking up discarded clothes, cooking tea, bathing kids, etc etc. I bought myself nice ready meals for tea and ate them in bed with a glass of wine, watching a dvd. I am hoping he might take them camping again later this summer holidays. I don't enjoy camping anyway. The only downside was the huge amount of washing and unpacking after they returned!

HermioneWeasley · 14/07/2020 20:17

Do it, hotels are really cheap at the moment

poppet31 · 14/07/2020 20:36

DH and I have each booked a night in a hotel as a treat. Our son has additional needs and it's been pretty relentless lately with no nursery or restbite. He's going next Sunday and I'm going the week after. I don't know what I'm looking forward to most - going to the hotel or having the house to myself when DH goes!

RattyTerror · 14/07/2020 20:40

Sounds wonderful to me! I have a toddler and for my birthday last year DH treated me to a spa day. I didn’t ask any friends to come, I just wanted to be alone all day and enjoy the peace. A lot of people found it quite strange but honestly it was fantastic!

purplecorkheart · 14/07/2020 20:41

I used to do this regularly before Covid. Looking forward to doing it again. Used to stock up on loads of snacky m&s bits.

Evelefteden · 14/07/2020 20:44

I’ve done this twice. Booked in to local travel lodge and went to sleep about 7pm. Woke up had a lovely breakfast and went home.

It was amazing

twilightcafe · 14/07/2020 20:46

YABU

You need two nights away, not one.

dottiedodah · 14/07/2020 20:50

Think you will be the envy of everyone here TBH! Its not being decadent and your batteries will be recharged, you will return a new woman ,reinvigarated and ready to go!

MrsTumbletap · 14/07/2020 20:51

I NEED time on my own, it's how I recharge. My DH doesn't get it and would happily be surrounded with people all day every day.

A night alone in a hotel with, the Tv to yourself, magazines, snacks. Bliss!!

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 14/07/2020 20:52

Yadnbu- sounds like bliss

AgeLikeWine · 14/07/2020 20:57

I haven’t spent a night alone in a hotel since early March, which is the longest amount of time for many years without one. I normally stay in hotels quite frequently and I miss it!

I miss the room service, the minibar, the fantastic breakfast buffet at Hilton, the warm cookies at DoubleTree, the amazing beds at Premier Inn. I even miss the stupid song & dance video when you turn on the TV in a Courtyard. Yes, I’m sad...

ItsSpittingEverybodyIn · 14/07/2020 20:58

Ooooh yes do it! My mum in law is always telling me to get myself booked into a hotel and leave dh with the kids. I am so tempted. I world do absolutely nothing but relax, read, eat, drink and sleep. Ahhhhh.

Crunchymum · 14/07/2020 21:04

I've fantasised about it, but I'm a terrible sleeper and it would take me at least a week to get used to a new bed Shock

GreyGardens88 · 14/07/2020 21:09

Gosh it's fab. When I stay in a hotel alone I normally do something like buy a foot long subway to take to the room, along with a bottle of wine and slob out in the fresh sheets in front of the tv

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 14/07/2020 21:10

I'm going to a friend's overnight at the weekend. I love a hotel but after lockdown what I need is company. She's already told me what she's cooking, all I need to do is turn up with flowers and booze. I luff her so much. Can't wait.
