@LivinLaVidaLoki yay that's brilliant! Am so pleased (& jealous)
@justasking111 "It is the same in the private sector the Spire have stated that you self isolate for two weeks beforehand." same here - I had to agree to isolate for 2 weeks if I needed a procedure (either we all isolate or I have to isolate from everyone in the house) before they would see me for my outpatient's. It's fairly long winded - have had two phone triage, will get called this morning to ensure me/household don't have symptoms (the list is longer than the NHS one). On arrival I wait in the car park, call them, a nurse comes out to check my paperwork & take my temperature. Then I'm allowed in. Masks for all.
Depressing myself further by reading more about the environmental impact of all this - directly & indirectly (global recession is very bad for green policies & practices) ... short/medium term reduction in aircraft emissions really won't offset the damage we are doing. I wonder of people will ever get out of their cars & back on to public transport again. Traffic levels are already almost back to normal with huge proportions of people working from home & scared to go out.
Masks to be made compulsory in indoor work places and indoor spaces (museum, libraries)? TBH the work place rule would make more sense to me than in shops since the contact people have with one another is prolonged & lots of opportunities for social distancing to fail. That's how the hospital outbreaks have occurred - staff wearing masks around infected patients (ITU staff much less likely to catch it cos they are so careful & had resources), but relaxing/no social distancing with each other on breaks etc.
Still that would mean I'm stuck with dh at home for the foreseeable, no way he'd opt to wear a mask 10 hours a day. He's really not happy at home, heading towards being depressed & so unfit. It's not good. And as usual the rule would impact on those who have fewest options most. I haven't seen any retail staff using masks yet - I'm sure they said yesterday it wouldn't be compulsory for staff but if they extend it to work places then they'd have to?
I still don't think they should be compulsory - the amount of potential contamination from all the touching & the 'magic mask of protection' factor meaning people are grubby & get too close actually worries me. People seem incapable of using them properly & since they are not compulsory atm those who are wearing them are the most committed (?) if they can't do it then getting everyone else to use them safely is a non starter.
It's politics - more popularism - giving sucker to the fuck heads who'll be loving the opportunity to scream & shame every poor sod who doesn't wear one for whatever reason. That behaviour was what turned me into an AD - this rule will bring a plague of Stasism & abuse. And they will love it.
