Mr Big or Aiden?

Anyone else binge watching crap tv?

OP posts:
DerbyshireGirly · 11/07/2020 07:31

Big.

I liked Harry as a character too, his kindness shone in his eyes.

Dozer · 11/07/2020 07:31

Of those two, Big!

Of the men in the series, would choose Harry, and Smith was v handsome and kind.

AndAllOurYesterdays · 11/07/2020 07:31

And Big all the way. He was very clear about not wanting marriage or a serious relationship. Carrie just struggled to get the message which led to all the conflict.

But Harry if I could have free choice.

RedRec · 11/07/2020 07:36

@StopMakingATitOfUrselfNPissOff
Thank you.

BellsaRinging · 11/07/2020 07:39

Aiden. Of course. Are you all mad? But yes to Harry as well.

HelloDulling · 11/07/2020 07:39

Big.

Liverbird77 · 11/07/2020 07:45

Aiden was a arse. He was so controlling e.g. over her smoking.
Also, remember when he pressed her to go to his god awful cabin upstate? He would've known she'd have hated it!
He constantly punished her over the affair with Big. Imagine being married and having to put up with that??
He was also just generally irritating. Those rings...bleurgh!
Big was gorgeous. As others have said, he was clear about who he was. I think their love grew over time and was real.

Willowmartha1 · 11/07/2020 07:48

big or John as he is really called !! She irritated the life out of me could never understand why all those men fell for her !!

MellowBird85 · 11/07/2020 07:50

Aiden definitely. Big only wanted Carrie when he couldn’t have her - he was still buggering about by the time the film came out and stood her up at their wedding!

I must be the only one who thinks Carrie wasn’t that bad a friend. Yeah she likes to talk about her own problems but I think when it came down to it she could be really supportive. Like when Charlotte was having second thoughts about marrying Trey and she offered to run out of the church with her. She was devastated when Samantha got cancer and went to appointments with her. And she was there when Miranda gave birth.

I’m far too invested in this 😑

LaGoulueRevenue · 11/07/2020 07:53

This was a bit before my time but I bought the box set about 2 years ago as it's an iconic show....and I couldn't believe that any of these people were supposed to be attracted to one another. All awful!

Spied · 11/07/2020 07:53

Big!

Flymetothetoon · 11/07/2020 07:53

Mr Big no contest!

Pippin2028 · 11/07/2020 07:54

Big and Carrie definitely deserved each other, Big was clear about his reluctance to commit. I don't think aiden could have given Carrie what she craved.

Itstartedinbarcelona · 11/07/2020 07:56

Aiden definitely he was so sexy. Not right for Carrie though. It was the relationship between the 4 of them that made the series though.

poorbuthappy · 11/07/2020 08:00

I'm going to dig out the box set and a working DVD player purely so I can answer this question. Grin

Whatdoyouthinkaboutthisone · 11/07/2020 08:02

@MellowBird85 - I agree with you on Carrie not being as bad a friend as some say. She loved her friends so much, they were her world. Yes she is very self focused but the whole series concentrated most of the time on her, she was the central character.
She was very supportive when Charlotte had the miscarriage, she looked after Samantha when she had flu and she was good with Miranda when she had Brady and felt isolated. She wasn’t all bad!
Yep, I’m too invested in this as well! I have watched it many many times.

I do agree with the poster who mentioned the lack of BAME actors in the series, Dr Robert was really the only main example and Samantha had a black boyfriend for a short time but I can’t think of any others. This does date the series amongst other aspects.

WorryWartOne · 11/07/2020 08:03

Steve only cheated in the film, and I don’t count that as canon, as both the films were shite 😬 so for me, he still has a clean slate. He’s the best looking of the regular partners, but he’s a whiny tit about Miranda’s success at work and money, so he can GTFO.

Although if Dr Robert counts as a regular partner, then woof woof 🐶 he was extremely handsome!

Harry was my favourite personality-wise, I also thought the scene where he told Charlotte he couldn’t get her off his mind and they shagged in that sleazy bachelor pad was super hot 😆

Agree with PP that most of the men in SATC were minging, especially the ‘men of the week’ in the earlier series, who would date the girls for one episode and invariably have some kind of insurmountable flaw. They were usually fuck ugly with awful hair and red braces/shiny shoes 🤮 yet the women would fall at their feet for some inexplicable reason!

Yes!!! Big all the way!

Did anyone else have friends around the time this was in who would be in really toxic relationships and always say "we're just like Carrie and big" ha ha. Loved this programme can still re watch it over and over. Me and my friend still always have hysterics about Samantha putting the vibratory in Brady's chair to keep him quiet.

MrsWhites · 11/07/2020 08:08

Definitely Big! Super sexy! Aiden gave me the ick.

When I watched it back in the day I loved Carrie but when I’ve watched it again, all I see is her selfishness. It’s funny how age gives you a different perspective.

Lizzosflute · 11/07/2020 08:08

@WorryWartOne DR ROBERT!!! So handsome!

Of Aiden and Big, I’d probably go for Big. I think Aiden was keen to change Carrie whereas Big loved her for who she was. He’s also a bit earnest for me Grin

Out of all of them, I’d go for Harry though. Steve’s discomfort at Miranda’s success always irritated me. Loved Smith too!

LoeliaPonsonby · 11/07/2020 08:10

Aiden looked like he was on a fast track to be a controlling abusive dickhead - he wasn’t comfortable with who Carrie was at all.

And Steve was a bit of a dick as well - couldn’t cope with Miranda’s success and didn’t he offload his elderly mother’s care to Miranda?

HolyMolasses · 11/07/2020 08:20

I didn't ask about Steve or Harry

I like that fact that all the characters are flawed, that's what make the series.

Big for me, always.

OP posts:
Izzabellasasperella · 11/07/2020 08:49

@RJnomore1 me too!

KnobChops · 11/07/2020 08:55

Big was much better than Aiden, he just wanted a quiet life, which he knew he wouldn’t get with mad Carrie.
Aiden awful controlling and insecure type.
Carrie awful, needy, selfish. Would have ended up alone in real life.

There is no way Steve would have cheated on Miranda in real life, he adored her and wasn’t the type. I’ve wiped these awful films from my memory.
Harry was a sweet and straightforward man, and funny.
Smith was just lovely, they would have ended up married (again, that awful film).
Remember the hot detective that Miranda dated? He was cut and a nice man. She fucked that up.
Dr Robert suited Miranda much more than Steve did.
I loved Samantha, she was a wonderful friend to the others.

AzraiL · 11/07/2020 09:06
@HappyDinosaur - Yes I agree entirely.

@AzraiL - Harry wasn’t a cheater was he?? Nooooooo! I must have missed that episode!
No, Harry wasn't a cheater, I meant that I preferred him to the others as the others were cheaters.

Big cheated on his wife with Carrie
Steve cheates on Miranda
Aiden cheated on his wife by pashing Carrie

All cheating scum, and Carrie too!
