Oh yes, the “you need to carve out time for yourself for self-care”.

Oh rilly? And when exactly should I do that? Shall I set an alarm for 2am to have some “me time”?

I fucking hate stupid suggestions like that. Yes poppet - I’m running myself into the ground because I didn’t think to stop and have a bath.

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 13/07/2020 11:42

Drivingdownthe101 I agree it's awful and cancer is one disease with a vocal charity behind it they'll be many others diseases whose care has been massive compromised that don't get the publicity and other home deaths with little support.

I went to the chemist today - they've removed the 2 m chair and depsite having huge perspect screens served me as soon as I got through the door no where near the screen and no masks. All very different from set up on Friday.

Jrobhatch29 · 13/07/2020 11:44

And the prize for the worst thing I've seen on facebook goes to....

@driving that is awful to read. I will remember this article next time a dementor bangs on about how dreadful covid deaths are (not saying they aren't btw) because the thought of watching my mum die at home, instead of hospital, without the meds that eased her pain and helped her on her way is just too awful to contemplate.

Whenever I had been thinking of cancer it was more to do with missed or delayed diagnoses but this adds a new layer of horrific.

I think that this is a worse message, itself patronising and condescending at the same time

It’s bullshit, my neighbour shared this on her Facebook last night.

I asked on another thread what the poster was supposed to be telling me and got told it was obvious and I was point scoring Grin
LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 13/07/2020 12:26

Well I can definitely recommend Morrisons fruit and veg box - hassle free and seems fair bit of produce.

I know I keep on about these boxes but they really suit us.

Though on the radio this morning it was all about the concern people aren't back in shops yet - the magic answer was face mask apparently not making shopping a pleasant experience again.

I don't understand why they aren't considering this. I'm not going shopping because it seems like a right ball ache. Having to dance round one way systems with the ever present danger of incurring the wrath of the shop assistant is what's putting me off going, not the thought of picking up Covid germs. Add face masks to that and I will be discouraged further. I'll go shopping when it's normal again (not new normal!) or at least really, really close to being normal.

Worldgonecrazy · 13/07/2020 12:33

I’ve only had positive shopping experiences so far. Hand sanitizer at entrance, free to browse, Perspex screen at cash desk but otherwise fairly normal.

I have been told that some shops are being much more dementory.

If shops want customers back they need to focus on shopping experience not mask wearing.

Sorry if this has already been discussed but I have seen this graph on a number of other threads as evidence of a second wave - it's from the worldometer website. Any thoughts on it?

I'm the same - plus if we are all out together as 5 people many shops have max of ten and we feel we can't go into and browse so might as well order on-line and avoid the whole hassle.

I was dreading the chemist this morning but they seem to have relaxed a bit so it wasn't the terrible experience I was prepared for.

PickAChew · 13/07/2020 12:40
I've suspected all along that there are going to be some massive lawsuits arising from all this.
Shodan · 13/07/2020 12:42

Afternoon all.

I had a quiet couple of days on here because I was wiped out dealing with Mum. She had another fall yesterday and was taken to hospital. I'll find out what's going on with that later, but at least I had a good night's sleep knowing she was safely looked-after.

I did get to have my super Saturday though Grin Had a massive full English at my favourite cafe after training in the morning-they were very happy to see us back. Then I ate another large amount of food in the evening when my friend came over for scary movie night.

It was all very NORMAL and lovely.

It's wrong for a start as it's based on reporting averages. Plus even if it wasn't what exactly is it based on? Has any country actually had as many covid deaths as the UK per capita then a massive second wave? In the US the places that are having increases in cases now are the ones that weren't badly hit in the first place.

Teateaandmoretea · 13/07/2020 12:59

@shodan I hope your mum's okay Flowers

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 13/07/2020 13:00

Managed to battle through triage to actually have a mask-to-mask appointment with my GP.

Not sure why, but people let down their guard when they talk to me and he said there’s nothing in the community here...

As an aside 😉 - are GPs supposed to giggle when they say “when there’s a vaccine”?

Dementory sign on the play park fence where last week there wasn’t, horrid muzzle-wearing in the supermarket and FB village group ranting on about people not wearing masks in the shop even though they’ve been mandatory for days.

Stupid things leave me feeling short of breath when I’m not and with steamed up glasses so half-blind I’m a bloody liability.

I'd like to see the source of their data/evidence. Because anyone can draw pretty graphs and label some lines with scenarios. It strikes me that for the second wave to rise that quickly, they're assuming almost no population immunity (not even the 7% or however many it is who have antibodies) and no significant change in people's behaviour (e.g. more working from home). I am deducing this from their second wave rising nearly as quickly as the first.
Worldgonecrazy · 13/07/2020 13:08

@FrugiFan. You could post on the graphs thread. There are some number crunchers there who can talk about the chart in more detail. It does look like it was put together by a dementor!

Teateaandmoretea · 13/07/2020 13:08

The other thing is that if it is true all will be well because apparently masks will solve it all. Not sure I quite believe that either but as I've said before I think we should be open to masks where possibly if cases go up and there is evidence that they will help.

110APiccadilly · 13/07/2020 13:09

Oh, and they're presumably assuming that care homes (you know, the places where huge numbers of deaths happened) will :

A) be operating in September exactly as they did in early March (no testing, visitors allowed, hospital patients deliberately discharged into them with no testing) and

B) contain the same number of people vulnerable to dying of Covid that they did in March/April. Unlikely, as those particularly vulnerable to it are more likely to have succumbed already.

onedayinthefuture · 13/07/2020 13:16

Did someone say there was a facebook group for like minded people?

It's good to find this thread again. First we had the 'stay the fuck at home' mob and now we have the 'wear a fucking mask mob'. I have no problem wearing one in medical settings but I keep my distance from people in supermarkets anyway, even in normal times. I just hate social shaming and bullying.

Am off to an exercise class tonight so feeling excited.

Drivingdownthe101 · 13/07/2020 13:17

Surely that graph assumes no localised lockdowns for outbreaks, no working from home etc?

Nihiloxica · 13/07/2020 13:22

@Drivingdownthe101

That graph assumes that masks are magic.
