80s (or thereabouts) song lyrics thread 6

Hi All

Thread 6 here we go.

Post a few lines of a song from the 70s, 80s, 90s & we will try to guess the song & singer/band.

That would be plight of homeless people of course, not flight!

Didn’t release it as a single. I didn’t get much sleep last night - and it’s showing!

That'll be Streets of London, I learned how to play it in high school. Absolutely no clue who it's by though!

The songs I put up twice yesterday and nobody got were from an album called mythical kings and iguanas by dory previn.

She was married to (or with) andre previn and he left her for mia farrow (who went on to be with woody Allen, which didn't end well)
And she wrote the album which is so full of pain. There's a song called the lemon haired ladies which is all about how she knows her partner will leave her for a younger/prettier woman one day.

The second song I put up is called the lady with the braid and it's LOVELY. She's inviting a man to stay the night, because it's a long way for him to go home, and she's showing him her house and herself, and she's nervous of rejection but braving it anyway. And trying not to put pressure on him, but you can feel her hopes. I love that song. I'd link it if I knew how, but it's on YouTube

Ps, I counted words too in the Killing moon answers and got us as equal, but I still pressed post first! But I’ll agree you probably love the song more than me. I like it a lot, but not up in my favourites.

@ThatLibraryMiss Correct on the song 👍. The version I found in 1974 was by Bo Donaldson & the Heywoods 😊 but I have checked and you are also right with Paper Lace. Well done 🏆
