Nothing learned and nothing gained
Only hope remains

The dogs lay at your feet .xxxx...
While we caressed your cheek
Well stars wrapped in your hair

(90s just- I think -I was living in Italy and songs were sometimes out later than they were at home!)

CoffeeBeansGalore · 11/07/2020 23:55

@Honeyroar. You lived in Italy? Lovely! We went to Tuscany for our 25th anniversary, Absolutely loved it. Definitely want to go back.

Honeyroar · 12/07/2020 00:00

That’s where I lived, in the hills above Lucca. I adore Tuscany. I think it’s my favourite place, and that’s coming from someone who has been long haul cabin crew for 23 years, so seen a lot of wonderful places.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 12/07/2020 00:01

Oh wow, we stayed just out of Lucca! A gorgeous villa hotel opposite an olive grove and a winery up the hill.

Sounds very like where I was. I was far too young to appreciate it at the time! I used to work with horses teaching and competing. It was a fabulous year.

Honeyroar · 12/07/2020 00:05

Sorry I’ve derailed us a bit.

Clue for my indie outstanding track, there’s an Italian word in the title/chorus....

CoffeeBeansGalore · 12/07/2020 00:09

@Honeyroar sounds like you had a great time 😊.

Still outstanding with a bit more

No more timing
Each tear that falls from my eyes
I'm not hiding
The remedy to cure this old heart of mine

I did. Long time ago though! When all these tracks were new!

Highest risk of striking out
The risk of getting hurt
And still I have so much to learn

Honeyroar · 12/07/2020 00:15

@CoffeeBeansGalore Dan Hartman I can dream about you

Honeyroar · 12/07/2020 00:19

Babooshka, if MN would supply the finger emoji, I'd flash it at you!
You love me really. 😘🥰😘

You went back and checked and counted? You are magnificent!

I hate to tell you this but you typed the same number of words.

Looking at the two posts I suspect @Honeyroar actually may have typed more characters.

I know it’s tough but you may have to graciously concede defeat on this one. Sorry Prosecco. Hand-hold and Flowers

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 12/07/2020 01:03

@Honeyroar - ooh, how lovely to have lived in Italy. Just after uni I was offered a job in Padua. Not taking it is one of my regrets. DH and I love Italy. We married in Ravello.

Right, it’s 1.00am and I’m pretty sure I’m talking to myself now so see you all tomorrow.

ThatLibraryMiss · 12/07/2020 07:56

@ProseccoBubbleFantasies

Is that streets of london, Babooshka? No idea who sang it
Ralph McTell, still writing, still with a great voice. I saw him last year. The song was from 1969.
SingingBabooshkaBadly · 12/07/2020 08:58

@ThatLibraryMiss - it’s such a moving song that always reminds me of my late DM. As a very young child we heard a busker absolutely murdering it outside a cinema. DM couldn’t believe her ears and for days after kept breaking into song impersonating the busker’s awful rendition.

I posted up thread that although it was on an album in 1969 but he didn’t as a single until 1974.

He wrote a new verse in March after hearing about the flight of homeless people trying to self isolate during the pandemic

In shop doorways, under bridges, in all our towns and cities
You can glimpse the makeshift bedding from the corner of your eye
Remember what you're seeing barely hides a human being
We're all in this together, brother, sister, you and I.
