Trip to Budapsst...that was cancelled because of Covid!!

AragonsGirl · 07/07/2020 18:47

It was my 40th 3 weeks ago...I got Harry Potter Lego and was delighted!

Billyjoearmstrong · 07/07/2020 18:49

Nothing.

To rub salt in the wound I was 12 weeks pregnant and suffering from HG. I stayed in bed all day (couldn’t move without puking to be fair) and was miserable.

I’m very jealous reading some of these replies.

A Kindle and a big slap-up meal at home with friends. It was wonderful! I am an avid reader, so the Kindle was great. I'm easily pleased. Grin
I'm sure I had other wonderful bits but tbh, It's 8 years ago and I was coming to terms with a stillbirth a few months earlier, so my memory's a bit vague.

Lola001 · 07/07/2020 18:54

Not 40 yet but for my 30th I got a trip to New York, a diamond ring and he took me for a lovely dinner. Going to pull out all the stops for his 40th next year!

Zelda93 · 07/07/2020 19:04

Jimmy Choo handbag
Christian Louboutin Shoes
2 nights in Ritz
Michelin star meal
He really treated me !!

ThatDamnScientist · 07/07/2020 19:05

Took me for an indoor skydiving experience (I didnt want a gift, I seem to have reached a point where I am just not into 'things').

simonneilsbeautifulhair · 07/07/2020 19:41

Our Decree Absolute.... best present he ever got me Grin

BonosSigh · 07/07/2020 19:43

A massive Weber barbeque. I bloody love barbecuing and it's used pretty much daily in the summer (and solidly for a week in winter when our oven died)

madcatladyforever · 07/07/2020 19:45

Nothing as per usual and sulked all day because it was my birthday.
For his 40th he had loads of gifts, a night out and a big party all arranged by me.
The twat is now an ex.

nancybotwinbloom · 07/07/2020 19:47

CherryPavlova · 07/07/2020 19:55

A surprise trip to Antwerp with the children with a visit to a jewellers to pick up a beautiful emerald necklace and earring set. They were so excited all the way there. It was lovely.

thisstooshallpass · 07/07/2020 19:57

@hopingtobedally

If you look through the majority of replies the gifts are of high value. Why does high value have to commemorate a big birthday? The lower value gifts often come with an excuse or have been ungratefully received.

Somethingsnappy · 07/07/2020 20:00

He took me for a child-free walking weekend in the Peak District. The dogs came though Grin

MrsSpenserGregson · 07/07/2020 20:04

A Labrador puppy 💕 (we already had a lab and it was my idea, not an irresponsible surprise). She's 8 now and still every bit as adorable.

Animum2 · 07/07/2020 20:08

I prefer to do things than receive presents so for my 40th we went to New York for 4 days, was amazing but very hot

Kez200 · 07/07/2020 20:09

I went on holiday to the Scillies by helicopter

AlexandraPeppernose · 07/07/2020 20:26

We saved for a year then went to London for 4 days without kids, got cheap theatre tickets, ate street food every meal and drank lots of beer. Best weekend of my life

oralengineer · 07/07/2020 20:36

5 diamond eternity. It was also our fifth wedding anniversary and I was expecting our much wanted DS.

whereorwhere · 07/07/2020 20:36

Diamond necklace - it was ridiculously expensive so I returned it 😂

Thingybobbyboo · 07/07/2020 20:43

Now ex husband. I was 38 weeks pregnant. He got me a bottle of whiskey. I couldn’t drink it obviously so he did over the next few days. So... he gave me a grumpy arse hungover husband and the stress of worrying how I might get into hospital if I went into labour early and he was drunk.
