@LadyOfTheImprovisedBath we are not panickers but when I looked out of the window and saw OH curled up in the garden we tried GP who refused to speak to us, so instinctively I threw him in the car and zoomed back to hospital, the block was the triage, if you arrived by ambulance you were seen sooner, a nurse did see OH in agony went for morphine which did not touch the pain, then they went into serious mode and took him back up to the urology ward where he had been treated, thank god consultant was available and everyone knew what to do. That two hour delay left him impotent which is another story.

SockYarn · 08/07/2020 13:02

@littlbrowndog

You may go to Spain.

But you have to quarantine yourself for a fortnight when you get home. And don't think you can get round the rules by flying from Manchester because THEY WILL KNOW.

Bollss · 08/07/2020 13:02

Can I ask, and don't answer if you don't want to I won't be offended, who will you all vote for in the next election?

Because I'm usually left leaning. But now i don't identify with anyone at all! I guess we have time for things to change until then but.... I don't feel like I can trust any of them now!

Teateaandmoretea · 08/07/2020 13:03

@TrustTheGeneGenie I truly have no idea. I rarely do before I get to the ballot box. I never agree with any of them ....

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 08/07/2020 13:04

I agree with the media and masks - it's their new narrative.

I think short transport journeys - okay - longer ones it's just not practical for anyone and I think there will be some areseholes that won't accept some people come under exceptions.

OP posts:
SockYarn · 08/07/2020 13:05

Not the SNP, that's for sure.

For the first time in my life it might be Conservative, they are the only party up here who have taken on the SNP over the clusterfuck which was "blended learning".

Spudlet · 08/07/2020 13:05

@PatriciaHolm Thank you! My maths is... not good. I mean, I can do your basic everyday sort of functional maths, but once it gets beyond that I start to wobble a bit...

@NothingIsWrong I actually don’t mind running in rain once I’m going, but getting through the door started is definitely harder! Once I get out I remember that I won’t shrink or dissolve and it’s all good Grin

On masks - in a way, I wish we did have clearer guidelines in England to follow rather than it being so vague. At least then we’d all know where we stood. I don’t much like wearing one and I know there are big downsides - trying to communicate with the pharmacist at my GP the other day, with me in a mask, her in a visor with the plastic screen across the window only open a bare crack, and a barricade of chairs stopping me from being too close was ridiculously frustrating. How on Earth anyone without decent hearing and the lung capacity to shout would manage is beyond me. But I still feel it would be less stressful if we just had a clear rule, with the proviso that those who can’t wear them don’t have to. And not outside, I cannot see the point in that at all.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 08/07/2020 13:08

@TheOrchidKiller I’ve spent most of my life backing down because my thoughts were “wrong”, I’m only now - the last 12 months or so- happily swimming the other direction and waiting for the inevitable about-turn from the rest.

@Pleasedontdothat our local place has opened to lessons again but only if you can mount unassisted and tighten your own girth and adjust stirrups.

Today was going to be my first day since early March I had time for myself as mine had a play date. Within 15 minutes they were all bickering and one left out so no, I don’t get a few hours to myself.

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 08/07/2020 13:10

alljustasking111 That's awful.

Sometimes delays really matter - a delay would have left DS with serious lifelong issues and he was in awful pain - I think maybe we were lucky that triage worked in the A&E department.

I also made DH do the talking aware men get listened to more sadly experinced it with another child and GP and occasionally children schools

110APiccadilly · 08/07/2020 13:14

Who will I vote for? I don't know. I've been politically homeless most if not all of my adult life. Certainly not Labour, given I live in the one part of the UK they currently run, nor "build-the-wall" Plaid. But the alternatives don't fill me with joy either.

Orangeblossom78 · 08/07/2020 13:15

In Englad we have the guidance of wearing them in smaller shops where it isn't possible to social distance I think.

I quite liked Ruth Davidson but she left to have a baby didn't she.

I think the scots can go abroad but have to quarantine after- could be wrong though that was the last I heard.

And with A&E presumably in an emergency could still ring 999 who would send paramedics and an ambulance. I have something too needs treated urgently which would need that if it flares up. Bit worrying.

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 08/07/2020 13:16

Last time did Plaid Cymru - despite very strong Conservative candiate for MP.

If they put up a stong conservative candiate for MP next time - then yea they'll get my vote.

For Senedd Cymru Conservative as they've said they'll look at getting rid of Welsh bacc and frankly we need a change.

Council - not sure.

Our next area conservative assembly member has come out as a dementor, am stunned. Our own assembly member has sat on the fence so hard she must have nails in her bum. Both are conservative, ours was in on the education meeting yesterday, a deafening silence from her.

I think that Wales has so many dementors conservatives assembly members here are staying schtum. Bastards.

justasking111 · 08/07/2020 13:19

A friends son was struggling wanted to do medicine was in a welsh language school, I said to him just ignore the welsh bacc. get the sciences and pay lip service to welsh bacc.

littlbrowndog · 08/07/2020 13:20

Oh ffs

Ibake · 08/07/2020 13:20

I'm glad I've got 4 years to see what post Covid and post brexit looks like. I'm fiscally right and socially left - which I guess makes me purple (NOT UKIP obvs, meant the colour combo!) but we do need one to pay for the other.

Labour have left me cold over the last few years as I found the idea of Corbyn terrifying. Starmer could well be the charmer but he's going to have to start saying what he stands for. BoJo is a twat but I'm naturally more conservative and could get behind a future that had Sunak in it.

I've not enjoyed voting Tory in recent times but haven't felt like I've had much choice. Not that it makes sod all difference how I vote in the Tatton constituency Grin

I always, always vote even when I've had to hold my nose as I believe suffrage trumps current political feelings.

There you go, 4 paragraphs and no answer!

Spudlet · 08/07/2020 13:20

I liked Ruth Davidson a lot. I met her a couple of times during my last job and I warmed to her.

Politically I swing left... last time I went Green. They didn’t have a cats chance in hell here but I wanted them to get short money.

Given who my MP is, I will never vote Tory, never. So it will probably be Labour for me, assuming Kier Starmer is still in charge and we don’t have another Corbyn-bot. It won’t matter... you could nail a blue rosette to a fence post here and it would get in (not fully convinced it hasn’t happened already when you look at my MP!). I vote for my conscience and because women fought like tigers so I could, rather than in the hope of getting an MP who actually represents me. 🤷‍♀️

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 08/07/2020 13:22

@TrustTheGeneGenie conservative. This seat swings them to SNP. I was really impressed by the fact they put out a message within hours of lockdown saying along the lines of “we don’t care who you vote for, if you need shopping, meds, a lightbulb change or a chat - we’re here”. They’ve also not been afraid to take on John swinney and our candidate is seen out and about getting stuck in to help people’s businesses.

skeptile · 08/07/2020 13:22

Anyone else seen this? It's from a US perspective (hence the flag references). I wish I could claim credit for it.

It's just a mask?
It's just two weeks.
It's just non-essential businesses.
It's just to keep from overwhelming the hospitals.
It's just until cases go down more.
It's just to keep others from being scared.
It's just for a few more weeks.
It's just communion or singing. You can still meet.
It's just until we get a vaccine.
It's just a few side effects.
It's just a bracelet.
It's just to let people know you're safe to be around.
It's just for the coronavirus vaccine.
It's just an app.
It's just to let others know who you've been in contact with.
It's just a few more months.
It’s just a video.
It’s just an email account.
It's just for protecting others from hate speech.
It's just a few people.
It's just a credit card company. You can use cash.
It's just a few places that don't take cash.
It's just a little chip.
It’s just for medical information and paying for things.
It’s just so you can travel.
It’s just so you can get your driver’s license.
It’s just so you can vote.
It's just for a few more years.
It's just a statue.
It's just a building.
It's just a song.
It’s just a piece of paper.
It's just a flag.
It's just a piece of cloth.

It's not just a piece of cloth.

It's not just a mask.

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 08/07/2020 13:24

DD1 was hoping college wouldn't do welsh bacc as some don't but they do - but we've said similar it's the A-levels that are needed.

I've seen articles about Senedd looking into how accepted Welsh bacc is and they've been told it's not really viewed well by Universities or bussiness nor is it very popular with students or their parents and teaching is very varibale quality yet they persist with it.
