Slight tweak to the suggestion, but here it is.

Got a bit more Internet this morning . Had a look at all the revelry on the daily mail
York was a skeleton of its former self yesterday. Sunday’s are usually much quieter so what it was like on Saturday ive no idea.
The noisy pub we expected to be open..wasnt
But the nice quiet bar was
Why shut at 6pm though.
Cool grey day today. Going home tonight
I’m a real wicked person. Our new next door neighbours are nice ( and quiet) , their caravan has been squeezed between us and other neighbors and they are here as much as we are. I love it when no ones here..and they went home last night..and we didn’t

Yayyy
This is the nearest I’ll get to living in a field on my own.
I think there’s a couple more people up the top.
I’m a wicked woman.

@NothingIsWrong sorry to hear you are struggling, hopefully your GP will help Flowers

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 06/07/2020 08:44

I would pretend we all have coughs so at least we'd get tested and then if negative we'd hopefully be able to get out.

I think that's the only way forward in all this. If they now have results available 10 hours after the test happens it shouldn't be required of anyone to sit at home isolating for 14 whole days when a quick test could tell people if that's necessary. It's the only way I think we can get through winter with school bubbles functioning and not causing chaos with kids and their families repeatedly needing to stay at home.

Bollss · 06/07/2020 08:48

Yeah I don't really understand why everyone needs to isolate. Why can't people who've been in contact be tested? Even if it was after 7 days it would be less wasted time?

I think if anyone of us got isolated for being near someone id just say we'd all had temps and get tested. I think they need to implement it for schools there's no need to keep whole groups of children at home especially when those groups can be hundreds.

And what's stupid is if you've actually got it you e only got to isolate for 7 days but if you've not it's 14?

MinesaPinot · 06/07/2020 08:49

@LivinLaVidaLoki the cost increases just add insult to injury doesn't it. Hoping you can get away.

Our Greek friends, who are bar owners, posted pictures on their FB page last night of the full moon over the little harbour. Usually you can see all the lights of the restaurants and bars but it all looked much darker and quieter than usual and I felt so sad for them.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 06/07/2020 08:50

Mascotte I've travelled a lot on my own. You can do this. It can have its hard moments but it makes you feel really independent and adventurous too and that has an impact on other areas of your life. My advice would be put together a playlist of your favourite music on Spotify to listen to in a lonely moment, take a good book to keep you company during meals and if you're the kind of person who likes planning, plan as much as you can so your days are full and interesting so the time passes quickly - obviously that might be harder at the moment with things being restricted. Hotels near the old towns of French cities do tend to be a good choice - the old towns definitely feel safer/smarter.

Ibake · 06/07/2020 08:52

Morning all. One of the pubs asked for our details on Saturday night so I scrawled our names and changed the last digit of my mobile. At least I resisted the urge to write M. Mouse!

I think they've got the testing message all wrong because of the 14 day thing - it's encouraging dishonesty. There's so much capacity in the system and results come back so quickly that we should be encouraging people to get tested much more frequently.

I was looking at the data slides yesterday and the D's should all be freaking out because loads more women than men are testing positive at the moment. Except, the obvious explanation for that is that women are generally more compliant (not us!) so are going for a test and men aren't. Just makes a mockery of the whole process.

Nihiloxica · 06/07/2020 08:57

I think they've got the testing message all wrong because of the 14 day thing - it's encouraging dishonesty.

If they'd lifted lockdown after 6 weeks and implanted track and trace then, people might have been more co-operative.

Closing down society for nearly a third of a year means people can no longer afford any further isolation.

Bollss · 06/07/2020 09:02

Now I'm arguing with aggressive Australians who think locking people in buildings with armed police outside is A-OK because their police Never use guns obviously and what about asymptomatic transmission (which we have no evidence for) and denying that Spain treated it's dogs better than its children. It's like an alternate universe.

mocha78 · 06/07/2020 09:08

Hello everyone! My daughter starts back with her face to face 11 plus tuition today after 3 months of zoom so excited for her to see other children in real life! I’m looking forward to a wander round the Lidl next to her tuition centre as not been there for months either. We like their barbeque ribs and I’m sure other things will be picked up along the way. My son has one half day in school this week (Year 7) but that’s alll they get sadly, still nice for him to see some friends too even if they have to keep their distance.

This is what I don’t get about the pubs’ track and trace-I thought it was only for close contacts so if everyone is keeping their distance in the pubs then they shouldn’t need to be traced. At work we are meant to keep our distance and wear masks when wandering around so that the whole business doesn’t have to shut for 2 weeks should one of us contract Covid.

Ibake · 06/07/2020 09:08

Exactly @nihiloxica.

Re lying to get a test, it's dead easy, my friend did it last week before she went to see her mum for the first time. Was in and out at test centre in less than an hour, just said she had symptoms but you don't have to be too specific, and then negative result by the following morning. It was actually very impressive but in theory comes with the 14 days and I don't understand that?

Maybe they could say SI for 2 days, come back and then once you've had 2 neg tests you're good to go? We're at a critical point of making this work and the infrastructure now exists but we've put rules in place that will mean people are put off 'doing the right thing' because they can't afford another 14 days off work.

chocolatesweets · 06/07/2020 09:09

Mornin' - went to see friends yesterday. They are ADs 😂🙈 had a lush coffee and kids played together. It was amazing. ❤️

Teateaandmoretea · 06/07/2020 09:10

You don’t have to self isolate for 14 days if you had symptoms then a negative test.

chocolatesweets · 06/07/2020 09:10

What does everyone think will happen? Will we get a second lockdown? I don't think people will stand for it personally. Especially in winter.

DominaShantotto · 06/07/2020 09:10

Oh my god the looks I've been getting on the school run for having obviously had my hair done! Evils do not come close to it!

Juniors opened another bubble today - it's great to see more and more coming back - shame they can't just muddle together in their classes now - DD1 is picking up farrrrrr too much nonsense from the big kids in her bubble! Think she's due to have a sleepover at the weekend with her mate - if the mate actually tidies her bedroom (it's being used as mega mega leverage!)

mocha78 · 06/07/2020 09:16

My son enjoyed having a friend over too on Saturday-his friend’s mum who I’ve always liked and got on with is a fellow AD and had a lovely coffee and chat with her. They’re hopeful for their Italy holiday in August, she’d had her hair cut and coloured in the week my her mobile hairdresser, it looked lovely as I’m sure yours does too @DominaShantotto!

rookiemere · 06/07/2020 09:18

Nothingiswrong so sorry you're struggling. Definitely contact your GP - around here they're still incredibly quiet, so should be able to see you.

Why the fuck are people arsey about others doing things that are perfectly allowed within the ‘rules’?! There are people on here saying they’d ask their partner to self isolate for 14 days if they went to the pub. WTAF?! It’s madness.
Drivingdownthe101 · 06/07/2020 09:20

@NothingIsWrong

Another Monday. I'm calling my GP again today as I'm still really struggling
Sorry to hear this. Hope they help.
DominaShantotto · 06/07/2020 09:21

Think our school mums are more arsey about the hair thing @mocha78 because the most local to school place most of them go to has decided to throw in the towel and not reopen so they're all suffering and haven't found anywhere new to go yet! Perhaps the evils are a "where's she going then" look of appraisal (they'd never come to mine cos it's in the "shitty" part of town whereas school is in the "posh" bit and they get fits of horror at having to cross the boundary).

Ibake · 06/07/2020 09:22

You're right @tea. Just went onto NHS and Govt sites to read more. Have to say it's written really badly though and there is still lots of talk on there about 14 days if someone in your bubble tests positive. Surely they should be saying, go and get tested asap instead?

FrugiFan · 06/07/2020 09:25

@chocolatesweets

What does everyone think will happen? Will we get a second lockdown? I don't think people will stand for it personally. Especially in winter.
That's exactly what people think. I was told by a dementor on MN "we WILL have a second lockdown if it is necessary" (emphasis not mine).

I also came across this meme on Facebook, I dont know what it's even trying to say. That the world is ending so why bother working??

Ads have had enough of malakas On July 4, they went crackers.
Bollss · 06/07/2020 09:26

I dont think there will be a second lockdown. Local ones probably not not a nationwide one. There's no need for it imo.

Just watching tele they've said there will be an extra 35 thousand cancer deaths next year. That makes me so fucking angry.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 06/07/2020 09:28

I have no idea about second lockdowns but in theory a full one involving the whole country shouldn't be necessary if we are really hot on testing and tracing contacts. But who knows what we're going into in the winter - I hardly want to think about it because of the various different scenarios. It is too hard to contemplate, personally. I can't see people complying for more than 3 weeks if it was needed though. People can't afford it.

I am cross - I just looked at the Guardian and there is an interview with Tom Hanks. The headline is 'Tom Hanks goes post-viral.' With the sub-heading saying 'I had crippling body aches, fatigue and couldn't concentrate.'

So I sat there thinking, is Tom one of the unlucky few who has weeks of ongoing post-viral symptoms? Because I know a lot of people are scared of experiencing that and reading about such things is scary tbh. But no, that's not it at all. He's just describing his symptoms from when he was ill and said they went away after a couple of weeks with no problem - so we're talking classic mild Covid symptoms really.

Wtf are the Guardian thinking? It's scare-mongering plain and simple. It has an impact. You'd think they were deliberately trying to spread misinformation because not everyone would read past the headline.

ineedaholidaynow · 06/07/2020 09:31

But how can we be hot on testing and tracing if people lie?
