I absolutely love King George in this. The lyrics are so clever, best song imo

Vilt · 03/07/2020 13:55

We're watching tomorrow night too. DH and I both have things on this evening or we'd be watching it today.

Seen it twice in London with DD2, who is as obsessed as I am. Best show I've ever seen I think. But super excited to see it with Lin and the original cast.

Can't wait for tomorrow evening!!

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 03/07/2020 13:57

@Winecheesesleep

We were supposed to see this in London a few months ago but it was obviously cancelled. We'd have been going into it fairly fresh, I've only heard a couple of the songs before.

Do you think I should watch it on Disney+ or wait for my first experience of it to be in the theatre? I've heard some people advise listening to the soundtrack before going so you keep up with it, but when I tried to do that I couldn't work out what was going on!

TIA!

I'd go ahead and watch now. Mackintosh has confirmed that the show won't reopen until 2021 so you could be waiting a while - plus the OBC is very different to the London cast and you will have a very different experience.
Ulysses · 03/07/2020 14:47

`I started watching it this morning I my excitement of it being released but work beckoned and I'm going toehold off watching it from the start until the 4 of can watch it together tonight. We all went to see it on February in London and DH and I saw it a couple of years ago too.

We love it in our house. There's so much energy from start to finish. Both times were different for me so I'd fire in there as as PP says It will be a different experience again from the film. The 2nd time was even better than the first for me. I think the more you know about it the better it is.

Winecheesesleep · 03/07/2020 14:56

Thanks all, seems unanimous that I should just get on and watch it - exciting! Grin

Dozer · 03/07/2020 14:59

Theatre on TV is nowhere near as good as in RL IMO. But is much, much cheaper!

Recommend the CD of the Hamilton soundtrack, also with the original cast.

Think is fine for DC, the issue will be the complicated and fast lyrics and plot. Lots may lose interest.

ChequerBoard · 03/07/2020 15:03

Signed up to Disney+ today and will be watching Hamilton with DD this evening. I've seen it in London and the touring Broadway production in San Francisco but can't wait to see Lin Manuel Miranda!!

theluckiest · 03/07/2020 15:03

Oh good lord, the excitement. I have snacks, I have a glass of fizz chilling for the 'interval'.

Home early on a Friday so I'm about to watch it now. DH & DCs banished upstairs as they know it's not their bag.

Couldn't be more excited!!! I'm GOING IN!!! See you in 2hrs 40!!!!!!!!!

RAISE A GLASS TO FREEDOM

HeyChief · 03/07/2020 15:14

Is there a set time you need to watch it? Is it still available on Sunday for example?

gotothecooler · 03/07/2020 15:17

@HeyChief

It's on Disney + so you can watch whenever you want.

I watched it when it dropped at 8am, then again literally straight after Blush

Am in same boat as PPs, never seen it, was supposed to go last month but obviously cancelled, now can’t decide to watch or wait!

HeyChief · 03/07/2020 15:23

Amazing. Thank you. I will sign up for a month.

MirandaWest · 03/07/2020 15:24

DD and I have seen it in London twice; she’s at her dad’s house this weekend (think she will watch it there) but she and I will watch it one night next week. Am looking forward to it Grin

littlestrawby · 03/07/2020 15:25

Gahhh, I'm so happy right now. Had tickets twice, cancelled twice as my baby (at the time) wasn't ready to be left overnight. Watched it first thing this morning and was truly overjoyed throughout. I am obsessed with Lin-Manuel!

MrsMariaReynolds · 03/07/2020 16:25

Have just watched it while having my lunch after work. Will catch again this evening once I stop blubbering about The ORPHANAGE Blush

RosieLemonade · 03/07/2020 16:37

I can’t wait. I’ve seen it three times and was booked for a 4th. Watching it with my sister who I’ve seen it with at the theatre every time. We are having lots of posh fizzy and snacks and dressing up for the occasion.

PawFives · 03/07/2020 16:44

Really looking forward to watching this later, DD is obsessed with it so been hearing the soundtrack for months!! Then Frozen 2 tomorrow, Disney+ earning its keep 😁

Scion286 · 03/07/2020 17:11

I’m completely new to this, no idea what it’s about and I’ve just got it on in the background. It’s good isn’t it! I’m going to research the history they’re singing about and watch it properly. It’s like the horrible histories songs on crack!

Very · 03/07/2020 17:56

Today has been in the diary for weeks, I’ve signed up to Disney+ just for this and absolutely cannot WAIT!! Smile

ThePurpleMoose · 03/07/2020 18:09

DH and I have taken the day off work in a couple of weeks time for the specific purpose of watching this in peace while DD is at nursery. Beyond excited Grin

dayswithaY · 03/07/2020 18:45

I'm one of the weirdoes who saw it in the West End and found it so dull, I wanted to leave at the interval but the tickets were expensive. I'm going to watch it on Disney+ purely for research purposes to see if I still hate it.

theluckiest · 03/07/2020 19:10

Just finished watching it. Absolutely outstanding.

I know the soundtrack inside out and was going to watch it this summer for the first time before Covid happened.

Everything I wanted it to be and more. Incredible performances and I wept buckets at 'It's Quiet Uptown.' Sad

Funnier than I realised too.

Oh, Lin you clever sod you.

Chimchar · 03/07/2020 19:43

I cried buckets in the theatre. We're going in now. Excited!

I'll see you on the other side! Grin

MummytoCSJH · 03/07/2020 20:38

I couldn't wait any longer and I made dinner early and watched it straight away. Amazing! I'm blown away. I can't wait to see it live. I I they'd offer this service for more musicals, I don't think it would prevent people going to the theatre as it's a totally different experience. Might watch it again...
