By the FBI.

Some good need for a change.

No, it’s really not to do with wanting him beheaded. As things stand, he has effectively been fired. It’s more that the way the crisis has been handled by the monarchy itself. For example, it is not a good idea for the monarch to be seen to support and reward him in such an obvious way, following the revelations. The obfuscation and obvious untruths he has come out with to justify not cooperating with investigators will appear to be dismissive of the plight of the victims. He does not have to go to the US to be interviewed, he could offer to be interviewed on British soil. Couple this with his pantomime wife’s embarrassing attempts to rehabilitate his reputation and it all looks very unbecoming to an increasingly sceptical public.

As I say, the Monarch has been badly advised as to how to handle the crisis. It’s possible that the retirement of her long-standing former advisor is taking its toll.

LadyEloise · 03/07/2020 15:21

Could somebody please link to a video on the Style and Beauty Topic board dealing with this. The thread is called Royal Style without Our Queen ( of the Andals ).
An ABC reporter had all the info but wasn't allowed develop a tv programme because higher ups said no.
Worth linking to this thread, sadly I'm lacking in techno skilks. Blush

fantasmasgoria1 · 03/07/2020 15:30

I hope she rats out a certain person and he has to face justice. Just because someone is born into a certain family doesn't mean that they should be exempt from arrest, imprisonment etc and I think he should be cooperating with the fbi.

He hasn't been supported and rewarded in any way. That's absurd. He has effectively been sacked from the royal family - all his patronages have been removed and his Pitch@Palace 'business' has been stopped.

Don't you watch the news?

A horse ride with his mum on private land or a lift to church in her car isn't the same as a public event.

How does that work, when you have already accepted the fact that only someone born into a certain family gets to wear the Crown Jewel ? As a wit once commented: now you're just arguing about the price

AuntMasha · 03/07/2020 16:39

Yes, I do read the news.

He was given a vice-admiralty for his 55th birthday by the Queen, by which time, Epstein’s activities were well-known. Andrew had already been forced to step down as U.K. trade envoy and the award bestowed on him by the monarch was much criticised at the time.

AuntMasha · 03/07/2020 16:48

Incidentally, the drive to Church at Sandringham is in fact a public event, attended by the press and the general public.

LadyEloise · 03/07/2020 16:52

I thought the drive to church and accompanying the Queen in the week following big media interest was giving the two fingers to most people who would have been appalled by someone continuing to be friends with a convicted paedophile.

That's pretty much the only way to view it. It's the Windsor equivalent of letting us eat cake. (Yes, I know).
SuckingDieselFella · 03/07/2020 18:19

If you've got the time to argue about such things, lucky you.

vintageyoda · 03/07/2020 19:19

I think there is a wider issue here of aristocracy / powerful people in this country abusing children. Maxwell will be less likely to expose any more than necessary as her safety will be most at threat from her own kind.

deepwatersolo · 04/07/2020 13:02

I am not British but I imagine the idea of monarchy is generally justified to the public by how 'special and superior' some family is to have been rewarded the crown. The logical consequence would be that an family member that doesn't rise to the standard is kicked out, and all money, land and houses that he got courtesy of the family membership are taken away, no?

As someone on Twitter quite rightly remarked: It says a lot about the British Monarchy that the Harry&Meghan situation was viewed as a major crisis by them and the Prince Andrew situation was not.

Anon778833 · 04/07/2020 14:37

@vintageyoda I agree.

Ahhhhh, twitter logic.
Katinski · 04/07/2020 15:47

I disagree, sucking - not twitter logic, rather logic-logic.

deepwatersolo · 04/07/2020 19:07

Ahhhhh, twitter logic.

It is actuall real life logic to recognize that the Monarchy's in both cases disproportionate responses are the hallmark of some severe dysfunction. And a sign of the utter disregard the Monarchy has for the plebs. Raping working class minors? No biggie! A prince wants to live among the people rather than lead the shielded life of the Monarchy? Oh the drama!

UntamedWisteria · 04/07/2020 20:20

To move this on a bit...

Anyone else think that the interview with GM's mate on R4 this morning saying categorically that GM would not give evidence against Randy Andy was a sort of signal to Andrew not to drop her in it either...

Absolutely. I was staring at the Guardian earlier thinking “she’s using the supposedly legitimate media to tell Andrew he’s safe!” Completely bizarre.

Also, this article seems to name some names, in line with what a PP was referring to.

Good to know that there's no need for a trial.

You've saved the US taxpayer a lot of money.

Your last two sentences make no sense but if you're accusing Andrew of rape on a public forum that's the least of your worries.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 04/07/2020 22:44

So the narrative that Ghislaine Maxwell was also a victim of Epstein has started

I’m surprised it’s taken so long

jessstan2 · 04/07/2020 23:11

I wondered about that too, Enthusiasm.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/07/2020 00:01

I started a thread about this myself in AIBU, and agree with everyone who's said there's no way this'll see the inside of a court room

There are just too many big names involved and far too much to lose

The question is still valid, no matter where it was made.

Never thought I'd see Twitter being straw-manned.

BumbleBeen · 05/07/2020 12:39

What is interesting is that while Prince Andrew (and others) have tried to downplay their friendship with Epstein, he openly admitted to being a good friend of Ghislaine's. So he can't wriggle out of that one.

I think there are MUCH bigger heads to roll in this than a disgraced Royal though. There are much more powerful players at force here.

I hope she has a solid plan in place to release all the dirt on all of them if she does 'suicide herself'. After all, I think their main MO was collecting Kompromat, so she may as well cash that currency in now and sell them all out.
