I would usually go to Mirrie Dancers but they're closed atm.

So after recommendations for a really exciting fancy box of chocolates (not bloody Belgian gianduja pralines, something really gorgeous and different) as a thank you for someone who has gone over and above for me recently...

Thank you Flowers

God I love chocolate, particularly expensive chocolate... love this thread...might treat myself!

Woeismethischristmas · 02/07/2020 11:55

I'd second the vote for the highland chocolatier. Absolutely lush.

It’s my birthday a week today I’ve just ordered a box of 24 from Paul a young and it’s all your faults!! Lol

@TryAnotherNickname

Hahaha except of course the well timed jinx immediately above!
Psychic chocolate twins. Spooky
Lessstressedhemum · 02/07/2020 12:54

Harry Spectre is fab. The chocolates are delicious, look beautiful and support adults with autism in having a meaningful job.

redwoodmazza · 02/07/2020 13:05

I think I may need to re-mortgage Smile

stophuggingme · 02/07/2020 13:14

Why did I read this thread
Mentally spent about £300 that I don’t have on chocolate and all that’s in the house are some bloody kinder bars! Angry

Starisnotanumber · 02/07/2020 13:19

Nobody has mentioned slatterys in Whitefield near Manchester.
www.slattery.co.uk.
You can suppliment your chocolates with cake as well. Online ordering is still available

thatcarolebaskinbitch · 02/07/2020 13:30

I may have found a new very expensive hobby...

BoobsOnTheMoon · 02/07/2020 13:37

I think Harry Specters is the winner simply because they have a link to how this person has helped me recently ❤️ Thank you @7ofNine and @lessstressedhemum for the suggestion, they are perfect!

But I'm tempted to buy myself some of the other suggestions just because Grin

When I want really good chocolates I make my own - order 100% cocoa chocolate (or use the highest you can find in the shops, double cream, salted butter and whatever liquor you like (or vanilla extract). Roll in good quality cocoa. Seriously, nothing you can buy comes close

melissasummerfield · 02/07/2020 13:47

Leonidas are hands down the best chocolates I have eaten, and Ive eaten a lot Grin

Gazelda · 02/07/2020 14:03

I think @mumsnet need to contact these fine chocolate purveyors and offer up our services to do their pre-Christmas taste tests.

BoobsOnTheMoon · 02/07/2020 14:40

Ooooh @Gazelda you're a genius Grin GrinGrin

This place is great - small local concern, great quality and ship everywhere thechocolateshopsevenoaks.co.uk/

BoudicasBoudoir · 02/07/2020 16:01

And I’m going to add this lot: www.audreyschocolates.co.uk

They supply Fortnum and Mason.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 02/07/2020 16:34

I used to work at Kennedy's Chocolate Shop as a teenager. It's amazing

DopamineHits · 02/07/2020 17:48

I haven't tried them but lovecocoa.com/products/new-british-collection

The owner is James Cadbury, the great great grandson of the original Mr Cadbury. I think he was on Dragons Den. If he had a dupe for Dairy Milk on the site, I'd buy 20 Grin

Wishihadanalgorithm · 02/07/2020 18:27

You can get Prestat from Waitrose. They were the Queen mother’s favourite apparently so that’s good enough for me.

tigerbear · 06/07/2020 09:32

I just had to come back to this thread, to say that I got a surprise delivery of Leonidas yesterday! An early birthday present from my mum. My late grandma was Belgian, and used to bring boxes of these back every year when she went to visit family.
It’s been over 25 years since I last tasted them, and they were just as I remembered!
(May have eaten the whole box in a day 😃)
