@PickAChew

We have two Intu shopping centres, here. Eldon Square had very few empty units, last time I was in, just before lockdown. The biggest gaps were in the Grey Quarter, where the likes of Giraffe had disappeared. Metrocentre is a different story, though and consistently has a empty units. That's going to be decimated. Already, the enormous Debenhams has closed down. Pret probably isn't going to be the last food outlet not to renew its lease. Whsmith moved to smaller premises, last year, Laura Ashley will disappear after its closing down sale and top shop and warehouse are in the same predicament. Game must surely be on the bones of their arse and I have no idea how boots will survive as they're still interrogating everyone who dares to shop there.
I loved the Metro Centre...or more specifically Metro Land.I loved being let loose in there Grin

I heard that bit went some time ago.

I passed by the Trafford Centre in Feb, ironically because of a certain virus (we decided that London would be more likely to be a first point of spread in the UK...) and there's been a lot of work on that. DH and I aren't recreational shoppers plus the DCs were with us (actually, they last better than DH and I can bribe them with the reward of going to a toy shop Grin ) but we both had to concede that the decor is pretty spectacular.

@mascotte
What about flying to Amsterdam and hiring a car or if possible flying somewhere like Nice if possible
There’s a train goes from Cannes to ventimiglia in italy, we’ll it did when we were there
You go right through Monaco
Was stunning

Dowser · 01/07/2020 21:29

@PickAChew
Spent so many happy hours in the metro centre
It was a real one off
The antique village..so quaint
Will be gutted if All that closes

BogRollBOGOF · 01/07/2020 21:30

@TrustTheGeneGenie

Ah bugger. Yeah I know what you mean, my mum is the exact same! Only told me she was having serious testing done for something pretty scary after the fact.

I hope the hospital will let you know how he's doing at least. Will your mum be ok alone?

DM's that type. Just drops into the conversation that she had a couple of days being observed in hospital. Sometimes there is such a thing as a bit too stoic.

Country, I'm glad it sounds like "just" a shake-up rather than anything worse.

Flowers to anyone who will benefit, there's been a few scares and sad news in the last few days. Plus all the ongoing stuff.

Mascotte · 01/07/2020 21:31

@dowser I'm not keen to wear a mask and am also keen to be able to get home if any further outbreaks happen, so would like to drive.

I agree that Nice and it's surrounds are amazing, beautiful.

I'm a bit nervous about going alone, and a bit sad DP won't come, but I need a proper change of scene.

BarkandCheese · 01/07/2020 21:32

@countrygirl99 sending my thoughts too. That kind of thing is awful at the best of times, an these are far from the best of times.

Littlebelina · 01/07/2020 21:36

Hope everything works out with your dad countrygirl

Mrsfrumble · 01/07/2020 21:40

@BogRollBOGOF are you in Derby? You don’t have to answer, and sorry if we’d already established that threads ago...

Today I started looking at jobs again, which I haven’t done since lockdown started. Would it be crackers to apply for a school-based job starting in September, when I’ve got no idea what’s going to be happening with my own children?

TheGreatWave · 01/07/2020 21:43

countrygirl I hope your Dad is back home soon.

We have just collected MIL from the hospital, obviously all staff wearing masks, but it was fine. It is worrying if people are avoiding the hospitals.

RubberDinghyRapids · 01/07/2020 21:53

@MagdaS Oh. Bum. Was hoping for some lovely neat little ends to be tied up. Happy to be corrected as always - every day's a school day!

ThanksCountrygirl so hard when you're not near to them. Hope all is ok.

Just been for a lovely evening walk with my sister and went to the Big Shop on the way back (needed essential Katsu curry sauce and wellies for DD). First time she's been in since lockdown so hadn't encountered the one way system. Lots of swearing and darting back down aisles because she fucked up. About three other people in there so all very by the by at this time of day but very funny to watch her get so confused and annoyed Grin

AnxiousElephant77 · 01/07/2020 21:57

Love to you and your dad @countrygirl

justasking111 · 01/07/2020 22:04

SNP check if your practice are doing online appointments. You really cannot ignore that cough infection. GPs are working in fact loosening up here I have spoken to gp twice, once before an appointment, then he phoned back to follow up two days later.

Dowser · 01/07/2020 22:05

There you go, my lovely internet friend in South Africa makes these powerful energy healing cards
He used to work with swami narayani
Basically print it out
Pop into a plastic ziplock bag
Stand water on it for about 1 minute

I do a little prayer
Sip water throughout the day
Happy healing 😁

Trump, does not have all of the remdesivir 👍

Oh and intent is everything.

We’d been to a dowsing weekend in Leicester , where we’d listened to a lecture by the late great Christopher strong I spoke about a few pages back, who’d helped someone get back up on their feet after a nasty fall and had rang chris to ask him to help him
He dowsed a rate..told the person to write it in his arm
Next thing Christopher got a call..I don’t you what I did , but I’m back on my feet he said.

So, we got to our caravan and next day, mr Dowser, who doesn’t normally suffer with tummy troubles, said he didn’t feel grand.
He dowsed a rate, borrowed my remedy machine. Put the rate into the machine , put the blank sugar pills into the well, pressed the switch and made a remedy. Two pills and two hours later he was right as rain.

Next time he had a problem, he dowsed a rate. Wrote it on his arm. Activated it with his pendulum..shortly after , he’s right as rain

Don’t ask me how it works..but it does.

INTU have filed for administration so that is more bad news. The only thing I liked about the Trafford Centre was the sculptures my friend did there of the unicorn

Dowser · 01/07/2020 22:12

Completely hanging the thread but Bernie ecclestone has become a father for the fourth time at 89 😱

Good lord.
I’d hate to be a new mum at That age.89 wow.

Dowser · 01/07/2020 22:13

Oh god..changing the thread.

IAintentDead · 01/07/2020 22:17

@mascotte
Go for it.

I regularly go away on my own and I love it (I live alone too though). It's weird, the bed is not my own and the pillows aren't right but I usually sleep like a log. I leave my worries at home, no matter how much something NEEDS doing, I can't do it, and I just relax.

Dowser · 01/07/2020 22:22

100 days of lockdown video

MagdaS · 01/07/2020 22:24

I used to have a regular Friday afternoon meeting at the Trafford Centre. Excellent, you might think, knock off early, go shopping.

I hated it. It was a total arse to get to as I didn’t normally drive to work and the traffic on a Friday afternoon was horrendous.

It’s fascinating behind the scenes though.

@countrygirl99 Thanks
@Mascotte I've driven down to the alps on my own 3 times in the last year. Bloody loved it, no need to keep asking if anyone needs a stop and just pleased myself. Tunnel so easy and flexible, you can book and change your ticket up to a year. I highly recommend Arras as a base for WW1 exploring if that's of any interest? It's only about 1 hour from the tunnel. We went to Thiepval, the Vimy memorial and the lochnagar crater. All so interesting and also would fill your days if you are on your own.

Oh ok
It was about Simon Dolan taking the Lockdown case to court tomorrow
In case anyone thinks I’ve been kicking off big style

Dowser · 01/07/2020 22:27

@Ibake
Have you been to morzine
Just beautiful
Like something out of heidi

NothingIsWrong · 01/07/2020 22:31

My walk with my friend this evening. This is a view from the ridgeway.

I'm very tired but a lot more even tempered than before. Helps that my lovely friend is now firmly anti dementor so we stomped round the countryside muttering insurrection at each other...

Ibake · 01/07/2020 22:34

No @dowser, not been there. We're in a tiny little village that's part of the La Plagne ski area, as beautiful in the summer as it is in the winter. Am trying to decide how soon to head back - torn between spending money in a place very dear to my heart but not wanting to go if we'll not be welcome? Tricky.
