Hello everyone I found you again 11 pages later!

Paradiseinportugal · 30/06/2020 23:20

Ryanair is flying from Cardiff to Faro, starting on Friday. Drakeford has told them that they have to stop and unless people live within 5 miles of the airport, they can't fly.
In other news Airbus have announced the loss of 17,000 jobs in Wales. 3 factories in Wales. Drakeford is clueless. I'm not sure he has Wales' best interests at heart.

NannyPhlegm · 30/06/2020 23:39

It's almost like Drakeford is doing everything possible to prevent people from working. This whole thing is totally baffling

Allflightscancelled · 30/06/2020 23:42

I'm sorry to butt in when the thread's going in a different direction but can I just ask if we are still going to do dry July? Those who need to, obvs. Because I'm screwing myself up for it and I think I'd like the company.

Allflightscancelled · 30/06/2020 23:42

And that means we start tomorrow

Paradiseinportugal · 30/06/2020 23:43

I started a bit early, Monday and Tuesday, so far so good!

Paradiseinportugal · 30/06/2020 23:44

I've read all the other threads, and I've really enjoyed the normality and humour on here. It's been great

justasking111 · 30/06/2020 23:44

Drakeford going up against Ryanair, wish him luck with that little leprechaun. {grin} Airbus is making 1700 redundant in Wales, do Cardiff care, they do not appear to. Our nearest airports are Manchester or Liverpool up here. I daresay there will be a dash to the holiday destinations from here and no-one will self isolate afterwards. Not sure what Drakeford could do about it anyway.

Allflightscancelled · 30/06/2020 23:50

Thanks paradise I'm joining you tomorrow. I think fevertree Madagascan cola is going to be my life saver. Tastes like the Coke of my childhood before it became just sugary brown fizzy water.

BogRollBOGOF · 30/06/2020 23:52

It's not dry July I need but a big kick up the glutemus maximus to move my butt and keep some fitness. I think June was my most sedentary month ever Blush

Allflightscancelled · 01/07/2020 00:03

I'm just still totally baffled by all of this. I had swine flu during the feared swine flu pandemic. I was having chemo at the time as well (breast cancer) and was neutropenic when the flu hit. Yay, go me.

There wasn't anything like this dementoring. I got a bit ill, I went into isolation in hospital, it was very boring and quite a bit weird and then n I got sent home. Admittedly there was an almighty management row right outside my isolation room because I'd been admitted to a cancer ward and coughed over everyone before they realised I was highly contagious but then they isolated me, gave me antivirals for 5 days and sent me home. No massive panic.

Why is this so different. I have no clue, and no words.

Allflightscancelled · 01/07/2020 00:06

Oh yes bogroll exercise needs to be in the plan for me too. My lardy arse is a disgraceBlush

PickAChew · 01/07/2020 00:12

@LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard Kate Tempest usually has me seriously weak at the knees.

PickAChew · 01/07/2020 00:16

@BogRollBOGOF my step count hasn't been great, not helped by a combination of sticky heat and Ds2 refusing to leave his tigeogre videos.

PickAChew · 01/07/2020 00:22

No5 sure if I'll manage dry July but I need to lose a few pounds so will be firing up my fitness pal. I'm onlyb3lb over my fighting weight but feel huge. Think menopause may play a part as I think i might be there now. 1 period in 18 months and have had premenstrual symptoms with no result, lately.

BogRollBOGOF · 01/07/2020 00:47
@BogRollBOGOF my step count hasn't been great, not helped by a combination of sticky heat and Ds2 refusing to leave his tigeogre videos.
The heat doesn't help me either. I normally lull at this time of year but that's on the back of a HM in June, then a couple of 10ks around now that don't need training then a 10 miler in Aug that's easy enough to pick up from 10k/ 6mi, to 8mi to race in a few weeks. Normally childcare is a summer holiday issue, but DH ain't goin' nowhere in no hurry!

I've done a fraction of what I did in April Blush I'm guessing DH is snoozing on the sofa and I've enjoyed the quiet looking at my app with mild shame and trying to work out some realistic targets.

We're all less enthused about heading out for our "bloody walks" as I now call them in my head. Playgrounds will add a little more purpose. I'd love to call them "a bloody walk" out loud but DS1 is already getting good use out of muttering "for Pete's sake"
I would be mortified if he went back to school and it emerged that the only practical English he learned in 5+ months was expanding his vocabulary with expletives Grin

I'd better set my alarm and see if I can retrain myselfto wake up at some reasonable time...
It's just so blissfully peaceful at this moment though!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 01/07/2020 00:55

I'm shouting and screaming about it (and have lost a friend or two in the prices sadly, total dementors) and I think it's a combo of: 1. Head in sand 2. Lots of sahp and grandparents able to help and 3. The fear of death.

So many said they weren't sending their kids back to school cos of the risk yet when push came to shove they did. I also think many are furloughed and haven't worked out the impact.

My mission for the weekend is to ask for equalities impact statement for this as women will be badly hit.

I also don't think people have realised there will be no key worker places and no wraparound care in sept.

All holiday clubs cancelled too. Thank his I live 4.7 miles from England. Mine are booked into kings camp in Chester.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 01/07/2020 00:56

Sorry for typos. Late.

NothingIsWrong · 01/07/2020 01:28

No sleep for me tonight it would appear. I veer from calm to near suicidal on an almost hourly basis. Job keeping me sane as I can't think about anything else when I'm doing it as it's pretty technical and detailed. The middle of the night is worst.

I feel like a failure for not being able to take this in my stride. How fucking stupid is that.

Mascotte · 01/07/2020 02:11

Hi, @NothingisWrong, not stupid at all. I'm awake too for my obligatory middle of the night panic. 💐

NothingIsWrong · 01/07/2020 02:15

@Mascotte today I've had people telling me I should just quit my job and it will all be fine.

I swear to god I need that job to retain my sanity.

The thought of this lasting indefinitely is just despair.

And I ranted at a school business manager today which was really unprofessional and I really hope she doesn't grass me up to my boss. So mild panic there as well.

Allnamesaregone · 01/07/2020 03:05

I missed a couple of threads but found you again 🙂

LivinLaVidaLoki · 01/07/2020 04:09

Anyone else finding their sleep is totally shot?
So far this week every night I've woken at 3-4am and unable to get back to sleep til its almost time to get up.

I'm shattered.

Disturbed sleep, full days work and mumsnetting dinner, play with DS, maybe some exercise and repeat....

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 01/07/2020 04:31

Hi all, It’s just an ongoing nightmare here in Wales. Looks like they’re planning to get children back just one day a week in September. More and more data coming out saying this is unnecessary and yet Welsh Government dig in. I keep expecting to wake up and realise this has all been a weird dream.

110APiccadilly · 01/07/2020 05:13

I'm starting to think Drakeford wants to crash the Welsh economy for some reason. The truth is probably that he thinks England will bail us out indefinitely. Worryingly, for those of us who live in Wales, I'm not sure he's right. Johnson and co must be pretty fed up with him by now.
