Dog keeps following me!

Okay, it's my own dog, but even so...

I could currently do with a cup of tea, but the dog has only just stopped trying to press herself into my body and started on her chew. If I get up and go to the kitchen, she will follow me and then I will be back to square one....but at least I will have a cup of tea in my hand.

Can anyone sympathise?

I feel a little better about my velcro dog now I know I am not alone. And so many lovely pictures!

This is my normal state of affairs. I do get fed up with it at times and have been known to shut myself in another room just to have an hour of dog free zone..

I have a giant furry shadow. And on the very rare chance she hasn't followed me, she leaves furry fluffy hair shadows on the carpet to remind me of her... My husband says he's the third wheel in the relationship.

I love all this 😍😍 Mine is having a snooze with his bear while I get some work done... Who knows how long this will last?

Artykitty666 · 01/07/2020 10:30

Does anyone else's do that leg poking thing? I tend to sit on the floor when I'm painting and she likes to sit behind me on the chair. After a while I'll notice I'm not at all comfortable and it turns she's poking me really firmly in the back with her foot. If I move, she just readjusts her position and does it again. Drives me mad! Grin

doodleygirl · 01/07/2020 10:34

My girl used to be a velcro dog, now she is an old lady she takes herself off for a snooze on a bed. I miss the velcro days. She does however still insist on accompanying me to the loo.

I love all of your pictures.

spiderlight · 01/07/2020 10:43

This is my shadow. Currently asleep on his cooling mat right next to my chair, mostly under the curtains so all I can see is four enormous hairy feet. I have to keep trimming them because they're the size of dinner plates and the hair on them grows so long that I step on it when he's underfoot in the kitchen. It's like cooking while wearing a single giant furry slipper.

Yes! So cheeky and demanding, and yet so irresistibly cute. I respond with 'You cheeky little sod!!', and then 9 times out of 10, give her exactly what she wants.

I've noticed that my dog always does this left handed, and wonder if it's a pattern that dogs are left handed in general.

As soon as my 2 labs hear the kettle go on, they want their own cups of tea.

In Italy, some companies reopening after lockdown are introducing dog-friendly offices.

Because the dogs have got used to their owners being at home for months and when the employees go back to work, the dogs are suffering from separation anxiety.

spiderlight · 01/07/2020 10:58

@aliasname - that's such a thoughtful thing to do!

DS came with his girlfriend earlier and took DDog out for a walk for a couple of hours. It felt so strange! I was working, got up to go to the kitchen to make a drink and found myself looking for Her Royal Furriness to come plop out from under her cover to accompany me.

It didn't feel right without her. Although I do have to admit I got a lot of work done.

She's back now. Situation normal. And I am never going to get this bloody book written...

Kind of. She'll give me a paw for attention, or she'll join me on the sofa and push the tablet or book or whatever out of the way as if to say "how dare you look at that! Look at ME!"

This thread is adorable! My old velcro dog is going deaf so doesn't hear when I get up and walk about when he is asleep. It's so sad and I miss him. My girl dog on the other hand couldn't give a shit and frequently leaves the room when I enter Hmm
During the day though I have 2 dog shaped bookends either side of my work chair and I can't move it to get comfy or I will run one of them over with the wheels.

This is SoupDogg. Shortly after this photo he was curled in the crook of my knees with his head on my feet.

The one on the right (? staffie) looks like they've got a big grin on their face. I bet it's a right character.

DDog is allowed in the bed with me in the mornings, when I'm sitting drinking my cup of tea. I end up sitting with my legs all bent awkwardly around her, so that she can be comfortably spread out in the middle of the bed...

I enjoy long bubble baths but one of my dogs is very uneasy about it and always lays down next to the bath to keep guard. One particular occasion she was really unsettled and kept trying to pull me out by my arm. In the end I felt freaked out and was worried she could sense I was going to have a heart attack or something so I ended up getting out after 5 mins. Nothing happened 🤷‍♀️. Good job I love her

Stefoscope · 02/07/2020 17:28

Yep, I love him to bits but he's nearly sent me flying down the stairs many times by standing on the back of my slippers. He's also taken to creeping up on me whilst I'm asleep a few times a night. Usually I can hear him sniffing me and whining. He doesn't need anything in particular, as I just pretend I'm asleep and he stops after a couple of minutes. I think going back to work after lockdown has made him particularly clingy!

suggestionsplease1 · 02/07/2020 17:43

I'm another one with a clingy dog! Constant nudging for attention and various sighs / groans if I'm too occupied.

Hovverry · 02/07/2020 18:25

Mine wants participation. He brings me his ball and demands that it be thrown over and over again. If I’m busy I constantly hear the plop of a ball being dropped behind me. He brings it to bed with me, keeps a ready supply indoors and out. When he’s not playing ping pong or catch he sleeps on top of me, ready to reach for a ball if I move a muscle.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 02/07/2020 19:01

@Spidey66 he is indeed a character. Staffy x of some sort. Adopted him 9 years ago this week. He's deffo got a staffy personality though. All about his people and hates the rain 😊

Zaphodsotherhead · 03/07/2020 08:48

Hovvery - my big old dog used to do that with stones! Whenever we went for a walk he would run backwards in front of us, putting stones at our feet that we were supposed to throw for him. If we took a ball he was even worse, so we used to try 'losing' them - he would spend an hour raking through a bramble bush to find them again.

He was such a wonderful dog. Miss him every day. But now I have Miss Velcro who is at least small enough to fit under the duvet.
