Dog keeps following me!

Okay, it's my own dog, but even so...

I could currently do with a cup of tea, but the dog has only just stopped trying to press herself into my body and started on her chew. If I get up and go to the kitchen, she will follow me and then I will be back to square one....but at least I will have a cup of tea in my hand.

Can anyone sympathise?

My dogs follow me everywhere. Sometimes all 3, usually 2 and 1 is my Velcro dog.

Mostly all 3 come to the loo with me. If I'm in the bath the older one will get bored and wander off and the other 2 will sit on the bath mat waiting for me.

This. If I move an inch -they compete to see who can get closest and fight and push each other to get closer. Go to the toilet -they lie outside the door. Go in the bath they come in and sit in a row and look at me and try and drink the water. Bed -they compete to see who can snuggle the most -usually wake up with one 35 kg dog curled up around my head and one lying on one side fully stretched and another one on the other side -so I can't roll. Love them but crikey.

I have had to squeeze into a public toilet cubicle with a labrador. She wanted to sit on my lap. I feel your pain.

My dog follows me everywhere I go too! Even if he's sleeping and hears me get up, he's up like a shot and following me to the kitchen to stand near me while I make a tea. It's like he doesn't want to miss anything. If I sit on the sofa he walks round in circles next to me until he finds a comfy spot and flops down on my lap. I love him to bits, he's my favourite being in this house!

I take back everything I said about my wee man being very good boy this morning. He's back on the magic carpet, stealthily lurking behind me with intent to send me arse up. Managed to roll on a decomposing mole on our lunchtime stroll. Showered and clean but clingier than ever.
Thankfully he's about knee high now (4.5 mths) so I can spot him but when he first came home he seemed so small I kept losing him or standing on him stalking me in the shadows.
Going by the size of his feet he'll be a big boy and I've no idea how he'll get comfy on me then.
Hope my photo appears. Managed to get him to sit still for a second - JUST.

You should think yourself lucky. My dog used to follow me around all the time but recently he has decided to ignore me and sleep on his our bed for most of the day

Awww Bitey, I hope he's Ok. Nothing more worrying than a change in their personality. Just wish they could tell you what's wrong or maybe they would just tell us to piss off and leave them in peace.
Hope he's back to normal soon.

My dog follows me around a lot too. He’s become more demanding over lockdown! My gym runs some exercises classes via zoom, I have to block him out of the room or he stands on top of me.. sooo he stands outside the door, and cries - which makes me feel like the meanest. He is scared of the bathroom (no idea why!) so if I’m in there at any point he stands in the middle of the living room, staring at the bathroom door, crying.. his cries slowly get louder.
I seem to enable him a lot, I have the guilt about his early years (Ex racing greyhound), and he seems to capitalize on the guilt..

'Just go and bloody sit down' is the commonest sentence uttered in this house 😁

Unfortuneately youngest is about to have cruciate surgery, so I will be missing her hairy velcroness in coming weeks 😓

@Vicbarbarkley oh no your poor Lab, my boy had TPLO surgery for his cruciate last year, horrible at the time but he's made a full recovery and is 100% sound on that leg now - good luck

I've NC'd for this as everyone I know knows my dogs, but I have four who all want to be on me at all times. This is one of my Velcro Vizslas... she is the Velcroiest dog in existence 😄 Seconds after I took this she was over my leg and doing her best Alien Facehugger impersonation ❤️

Another velcro dog owner here, as much as I hate to admit it, even the dead legs and dehydration is a fair payout for the happiness she's added to our household. I am feeling very reassured to hear I'm not the only one unable to go to the toilet without a dog at my feet.

Totally with you on the mouse-hand thing, OP. Mine thinks that when I sit at my desk and reach for the mouse, I'm putting my arm out to provide a pillow. She'll even sit on my lap and put her face RIGHT IN MY FACE, and do the imploring expression, until I provide the pillow-arm. I still try to work but I get bent a funny shape. She just sleeps. Her head gets heavier and heavier...

Yep I have one of these. We got her as DH had been desperate for a dog for years and I finally gave in even though I'm not a dog person. Typically she loves me the most and follows me everywhere. I didn't mind as much until she got dementia and now she just drives me potty. Aoparently she thinks she is a cat and tries to curl up in my lap/sit on my shoulder but she's much heavier than a cat!

@LunaHardy thank you, she is a beautiful girl Even by Vizsla standards she's very suffocating affectionate. All of my dogs are similar, it's definitely a trait of both breeds, but she is next level. She's pressed right down on my face in this photo and her legs are wrapped around my neck, she'd stay like this all day if I didn't have to peel her off my face to breathe 😄
