My partner has turned yellow and I am scared

Over the last couple of weeks his skin and eye whites have turned yellow, he also has dark urine which has not improved despite upping his fluid intake by at least an extra 2 litres a day, he is more tired than usual too. I don't want to scare myself witless and Google. He has called the GP and is having blood tests tonight.

Hope all goes well on Friday Flowers

catchingzzzeds · 22/07/2020 18:45

How are you coping? Have you got any help with the little ones?

daisydotandgertie · 22/07/2020 18:51

Eurax cream helped my DH with the itching - he had a very similar problem.

How’s the rest of the day gone? Are you able to visit at all?

The babies are keeping me sane and busy. Biggest Baby slandered me all the way home from the hospital with his happy sounds and Smallest slept, now both babies are bathed, Biggest is already asleep in bed and Smallest is chilling on the sofa while I wait for the beans to heat up for beans on toast. Puppy Dog (10 months old) is going into foster care tomorrow, he came from a rescue and is going back to the lady who looked after his pregnant mum (and him once the 12 puppies had been born), I feel like a bad dog owner but leaving him crated for hours a day while I do what I have to do for OH and the babies isn't fair on Pup. I feel more confident, knowing treatment is starting, I know pancreatic cancer isn't good but at least we're on the right path now.

Tonight I need to speak to our landlady and see if she will let us stay on as we're likely to have to go on to benefits as OH only gets Statutory Sick Pay and fostering does not make you rich despite what some would have you think (not that it should but I can't work and foster babies).

I have also been offered respite for the babies if I need it but I don't, yet.

Good that the babies are keeping you occupied. And sounds like a much better solution for your dog.

No worries Grin. Strangely enough he was on a three month course of steroid suppositories for IBS about six months ago. They now think the IBS was actually the cancer raising its ugly head.

oh op I was hoping for better news.
I hope the babies let you sleep so you can get back to better strength.

Big usually sleeps 6.30-6.30 and Small sleeps 10pm-6am, not bad for an 8 month old and a 3 month old. Mind you, Small had his first jabs today so tonight might be a different story Shock.

"Slandered me" no; definitely not he serenaded me!

Offering a virtual hand hold. You are doing amazingly Flowers

CallmeAngelina · 22/07/2020 19:25

I have a positive story to tell re: pancreatic cancer.
My uncle felt unwell and called in to his local pharmacy to get some Nurofen. The pharmacist took one look at his yellow (jaundiced) features and recommended he went straight to A&E (refused to sell him the Nurofen!).
It so happened that a leading surgeon in that field was based in his local hospital and operated on him the next day. They caught it very early, before it spread to other organs nearby, but he was nonetheless told that if he survived two years, he would be in all the record books.
He was still here 10 years later.
Ironically, he developed scar tissue on the site of the original operation, which began causing problems. He went into another hospital for an urgent op to remove it and caught MRSA, which was far more of an issue for him than the original cancer.

notapizzaeater · 22/07/2020 19:46

@bloodywhitecat Macmillan can help you fill in paperwork for PIP which should help with the money.

Catrina123 · 22/07/2020 19:51

Crickey, sorry to hear what you’re going through. Sounds tough with an 8 month old and a three month old - both so little!

Wilberforce1 · 22/07/2020 20:23

You sound like you're doing so well op, looking after those babies and dealing with this news. Sending you lots of love, I hope the smallest ones jabs don't keep her up tonight.

bloodywhitecat · 22/07/2020 20:30

Just had some good news! OH had developed a cough, I thought it was because the cancer had spread (doh!) but it is simply caused by his lungs itching! His chest is clear. For the first time in weeks I cried happy tears tonight.

Yay

YaWeeShit · 22/07/2020 20:34

That’s excellent news! And as someone who spent her entire childhood in foster care, bless you and your DH for being amazing Flowers

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 22/07/2020 20:53

lovely to have positive news op

bloodywhitecat · 22/07/2020 21:06

@CallmeAngelina Thank you, I need positive stories right now.

@YaWeeShit Being in foster care myself was one of my motivations, it wasn't nice back in my day and I wanted to do it better.

Small has spiked a temperature despite paracetamol so it could be a looooooooooooong night.

I'm so glad you've had a bit of good news! My sister was a foster career for many years, I take my hat off to you. You sound wonderful and I wish you nothing but the best. I hope the positive news keeps coming.
Fingers crossed the Smallest has a good night too.

AngelaScandal · 22/07/2020 23:10

@bloodywhitecat I’m glad there has been some good News in your day. You sound like such a lovely person. You can feel the love you have for the babies and of course OH just from your posts.
