I have just bought a Bissell crosswave, and it is amazing. I feel so organised with lovely clean floors.

What have you bought that has made a real difference to your life?

Shamelessly materialistic

@Nosuchluck

Laser eye surgery about 13 years ago , totally life changing.I Sky Q, I love it!
Was also going to say laser eye surgery. 12 years ago for me. When I got out of bed the next morning, looked out the window and could read the number plates it was like a miracle.

Fascinated by all the mentions of robot vacs. It's made me want one and I've never considered it before.

Quarantimespringclean · 29/06/2020 10:51

Zoflora. It smells lovely.

AirPods. My house is so much cleaner now - I pop these in, turn on an audio book and the hours fly by. I’m also slightly deaf and find phone conversations much easier to follow when I’m wearing these.

277xo · 29/06/2020 10:53

Dyson hairdryer
Airpods
Decent knives and saucepans, we went for global knives and circulon pans

Myshinynewname · 29/06/2020 12:19

You've all convinced me to buy a robovac!Which model should I go for? I've tried to read up on them but I don't understand which functions are helpful or how much power I need. Eg if it maps the area does that mean I can't move it upstairs?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 29/06/2020 12:26

These threads always cost me money.

So robo vac. How much, which one and where do I get one???

Baa baa 🐑

WingBingo · 29/06/2020 12:37

Cordless Dyson
Bean to cup machine
Audible subscription
Garmin
AirPods.

Anything to make life easier or more enjoyable are always a winner.

hiredandsqueak · 29/06/2020 13:59

This is mine I've got the D5 model as it's a few years old. Can't recommend it highly enough. It does map the floor but equally you can take it upstairs and it works from the map it made of there previously. I control mine from my phone so I can start it when I'm out and it will let meknow when it's done and show me the map o where it's cleaned. If it gets stuck it lets me know as well so I can text one of the kids to move him along or to switch it off until I get back. I have carpets and hard floors and it works equally well on both and moves between them with no problems. I need to empty the dust pan every three cleans but it's easily done and I get a notification before it starts if there isn't room in the dustpan.

hiredandsqueak · 29/06/2020 14:00

As to cost I paid £400 on a Black Friday deal.

Myshinynewname · 29/06/2020 14:20

Thanks

NotJustACigar · 29/06/2020 14:30

I'd like to hear more about the above ground pool, please, @Millie2013. Ajay kind did you get and how satisfying is it too swim in compared to a regular pool? Are they very expensive and difficult to put up and take down? How about the temperature, I guess it's not heated so would be cold most days. Do you need to put chemicals in it? How often do you have to change the water?

Millie2013 · 29/06/2020 15:00

We’re beginners re the pool, but there’s a fantastic group on Facebook called “above ground pools U.K. , help and advice” or similar and there’s a wealth of knowledge on there.

I haven’t been in yet, but DD loves it. It was easy to put up, but we had to level the ground first, which was a faff! Ours came with a filter, but we bought a heater (air source) which was expensive. We’ve also got a solar cover, which helps to keep the temperature up overnight

The chemistry bit has been simple so far, we “shocked” it with chlorine and I check the levels every couple of days and add more if required. We’ve got sine anti algae stuff on standby but haven’t needed it yet. I’m hoping the water can stay in all “season”

I haven’t dared add it all up yet, but the pool was the cheapest bit 🙈🙈🙈

It’s great though. I don’t regret buying it

NotJustACigar · 29/06/2020 15:43

Wow, thank you, Millie2013, that's really helpful. I will check out the Facebook group. I miss swimming so much!

Wineloffa · 29/06/2020 15:57

Our dog.
A Philips Lumea.
Braces to straighten my top teeth. Life-changing, I love having my photo taken now!

EinsteinaGogo · 29/06/2020 18:21

I've just orders a Eumy (??) from their official website for £159 (apparently £100 off).

I knew I shouldn't have read this thread 😂😂

Nsky · 29/06/2020 18:29

Vw beetle after Peugeot 106, so much better made.
Dyson upright vacuum, and dishwasher

SnowsInWater · 30/06/2020 09:52

A swimming pool (warm country), endless hours of entertainment for the whole family.
Thermomix, for a lazy cook who hates clean up it really is the best kitchen gadget ever.

torthecatlady · 30/06/2020 20:04

Cordless Dyson, it makes vacuuming the stairs SO much easier.

Method floor cleaner... squirt on the floor, wipe with mop, no need to rinse. Life changing BlushGrin

H1978 · 30/06/2020 20:07

Really boring but I got one of those salad/cheese grater boxes. Trying to get the family to eat a lot more salad and this will be easier than having to slice, chop and grate various different vegetables 😁

brightbluegentian · 30/06/2020 20:11

bean to cup coffee machine

TheBlueStocking · 30/06/2020 20:13

A silk sleeping bag. I sleep in it every night. It's especially lovely during this recent hot weather.

areyoubeingserviced · 30/06/2020 20:20
  • As another poster said- Flash mop- cheap
  • cosmetic dentistry-zircon crowns- expensive
  • Astral body cream- cheap
  • vitamin D tablets- I have more energy
totallyyesno · 30/06/2020 20:40

A zyliss manual food processor - so useful when you want to quickly chop fruit and vegetables and so satisfying to use.

AgeLikeWine · 30/06/2020 20:48

Prescription sunglasses, a complete revelation. Everyone who drives and needs their vision corrected should have a pair.

LunaNorth · 30/06/2020 21:01

Thought of some more...

Trekz Bone Conductor earphones for running. No annoying wires, much safer because you can hear traffic etc. Brilliant.

Bluetooth eye mask - I’m insomniac and these plus the Calm app really, really help.

Magnesium supplements - pretty much cured my awful restless leg syndrome.

My Fitbit. I give it all the credit for turning me from a person who was so sedentary I more or less qualified as furniture to someone who runs three times a week - and has kept it up for more than a year (with only a couple of breaks). It changed everything. I’ve learned I need some accountability.

giantangryrooster · 30/06/2020 21:23

@plominoagain
