Started a new one.

Need to adhere to guidelines this time though.

Worse thing was, the other governors were thanking him for his efforts.

Hmm

His efforts to deny children an education.

Yeah, well done Head Teacher.

Hester is right. How have we come to this?

This is why I have that unsettled feeling still.

How can it be that the social contract was so fragile it could be torn up so easily?

My children are being denied what their great grandparent took for granted 100 years ago.

Dowser · 26/06/2020 04:47

There’s no way, they can even think of not going back full time

Hang on in there..a day at a time
Start a Fb group if there isn’t one already

Dowser · 26/06/2020 04:58

How can Center Parcs , which built its reputation on being mainly a swimming zone, think it can reopen and not offer ANY swimming facilities .

That is just the crazy of crazies.

Back in the day, we were one of the first families to go there, Sherwood Forest. Easily 30 years ago. They had 700 units. If each unit held 4 people, there’s 2800 people.
I know there are a lot more activities on offer than when we went but that’s a lot of people to entertain without an indoor swimming facility.
Also the aqua sauna centres are closed.

Whe is the madness going to end ..and people stand up and say..enough is enough

PinkFondantFancy · 26/06/2020 07:11

@MrsArchchancellorRidcully Flowers I like others on the thread have to believe that it'll never come to that. His timescales are such that he's assuming he'll piss around for a couple of years until the magical vaccine comes along. People like him need to get a grip - the chances of one within a couple of years, and the chances of it doing anything are vanishingly small in my (humble, unqualified, but skeptical) opinion. Our children deserve and education and women deserve to be able to work.

I can't even give headspace to the alternative. DH and I both work full time in good jobs that we're good at. However, in both jobs there's only a handful of people with school age children that don't have a stay at home wife behind the scenes, and an even smaller number who are using state schools. Private schools are planning to go back as normal in September. It's all so infuriating and upsetting. I woke up angry about the school situation this morning, again. It's not healthy.

@MrsArchchancellorRidcully if you haven't already, join UsForThem (apologies if already mentioned - I jump onto this thread every now and then). They were one of the main driving forces behind the U-turn in Scotland.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 26/06/2020 07:24

Morning fellow AD's
Wishing you all a good, happy and positive day!

trappedsincesundaymorn · 26/06/2020 07:51

Morning all.

I think I'm going to need you lovely lot and your humour today. It would have been Mum's 76th birthday today. It seems weird that I have no card to give, no present to wrap and no flowers at Trapped Towers today for her. The no hugging roolz are getting thrown out of the window and chucked over the fence later when I pop up the road later to see my dad.

Anyway as you were...

BarkandCheese · 26/06/2020 07:54

Dowser exactly, who’s going to book centre parcs without the subtropical swimming paradise open? Sure there are other activities, but almost all of them cost extra, you go to centre parcs for the pool and maybe book a couple of extra things.

BarkandCheese · 26/06/2020 07:55

Orangeblossom78 · 26/06/2020 07:56

We have the amazing spa in Bath now, it has rates for residents too. If you have PIP for example the outdoor pool is really cheap. No sing of that being open for ages either

On beaches, close to the one mentioned, the NT beach nearby has toilets (Studland) and is beautiful.

Ibake · 26/06/2020 07:57

My thoughts are with you @trapped. We'll do our best to keep your spirits up xx

NothingIsWrong · 26/06/2020 07:58

Hugs to you @trappedsincesundaymorn

My Dad's birthday gets me every year, it's difficult.

I think it's going to be a long day here, but as ever keep on keeping on...

Pertella · 26/06/2020 08:05

Morning AD'ers. I need some sanity today.

Forgive me AD'ers for I have sinned...

I went slight dementor yesterday after being bombarded with images of Bournmouth via FB and the media yesterday. We are due to go on holiday in 5 weeks and I was getting angry at everything going to shit again and the potential that it could end up cancelled.

I have now been reminded of the low chance of being in contact with someone who has it, especially outdoors, and am feeling a lot more rational now.

Awaits Benediction...

AnxiousElephant77 · 26/06/2020 08:16

@trapped Thinking of you Daffodil

AnxiousElephant77 · 26/06/2020 08:17

There's no point in CP without the swimming pool, it's the only activity that's free! And such a big part of everything, we've been so many times (although I loathe it, the kids love it) and our whole day is planned around the pool!

BakewellTarts · 26/06/2020 08:22

Trapped Flowers special days are super hard.

BakewellTarts · 26/06/2020 08:24

And agree there is no Center Parcs without the pool. We are booked for Feb 21 half term but just won't go if this is still in force.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 26/06/2020 08:24

Found you !
I had a lovely evening at the beach yesterday.
Got ds2 to go in the water, which is normally pretty hard because he is underweight and feels the cold badly, and he was so ridiculously happy, it was worth all the people we killed.

This is the kind of thing we need to hear and focus on.

It is only a "could". But right now I will take that.

Today, I am being positive. I have to sit in a shitty long meeting today, but it does mean an hour of quiet time in an airconditioned car each way. I'll take that right now.

BarkandCheese · 26/06/2020 08:34

Today I am hiding all fighty or dementoring virus threads, they make me too stressed and I don’t need that.

Drivingdownthe101 · 26/06/2020 08:36

Thinking of you @trappedsincesundaymorn Flowers

SeagoingSexpot · 26/06/2020 08:38

Morning all.

After our cancelled-holiday sulk DH and I have agreed to try and do a week in a family apartment in Spain instead, beg or bribe the DGPs to have the kids for a weekend and wedge a weekend away together in there. Then maybe spend the rest of the money on having aircon installed in a couple of the bedrooms. (I fucking love aircon.) Feeling still annoyed but better. I just so wanted that ten days with no cooking, cleaning, the chance to read a book by myself...

Bollss · 26/06/2020 08:42

They're talking about closing the beaches on GMB. Honestly this is fucking ridiculous. What do they expect people to do? It's disgusting, controlling, ineffective (people will obviously just go elsewhere!) And just vile.

I'm sick and fucking tired of this and I haven't even been to the sodding beach.

Drivingdownthe101 · 26/06/2020 08:45

Today has got the potential to be an absolute shitter if I don’t find a way to pull myself out of it.
Horrific nights sleep due to the heat and children who couldn’t sleep because of the heat.
DD’s in a foul mood due to not sleeping because of the heat. Just spilt my coffee all over my sofa after taking all the covers off and washing them just last week.
Another day of nothingness ahead with the toddler while DH spends the entire day and evening on work phone calls. He’ll tell me that he’ll be done early as it’s Friday and he’s been working 12 hour days all week, then not emerge from the study until 8pm.
Gah.
