@thenightsky hopefully rain is on the way...thunder heat and humidity is not the one!

Shodan · 26/06/2020 20:09

I have air. Wonderful, fresh, blowy air Grin Things are being knocked off furniture but I don't care.

There was some mad dementing on my local FB page today, about my beloved Morrison's (aka the only place I felt things were remotely 'normal' throughout the last few months). Some woman claimed that it was 'packed' this morning, and that no social distancing was being adhered to, and no-one was wearing masks, and...and...and...

Only thing is- I was also in there this morning, at around the same time. And it was in no way 'packed'. And the social distancing was being adhered to.

So what did she hope to achieve, I wonder?

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 26/06/2020 20:26

pinkfondant thank you! I’m glad it’s just not me who thought that!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 26/06/2020 20:31

I just had a dementor friend on facebook block me....she posted a news article saying "covid deaths spike by 184 in last 24 hours" she captioned it "that's those idiots on the beach yesterday #stayhome #staysafe"
I commented "From the beach yesterday? Fuck me that's a quick turnaround"

I may be losing patience with them now.

HesterShaw1 · 26/06/2020 20:41

@justasking111

OH said when he was a queens scout, camping meant digging a latrine, he wants to know does that not happen anymore?
Or even, God forbid, shit in a carrier bag, tie it up and put it in a bin. We've all been caught short unexpectedly, but have the decency to bury or hide the evidence ffs.
HesterShaw1 · 26/06/2020 20:45

Sorry...I'm still on the shitting outdoors theme 😳

Oh god it's the 245746th Friday evening of lockdown, alone with a bottle of wine and Netflix. Pouring with bloody rain. WAAAAH 😭

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 26/06/2020 20:57

Hello everyone!

I was interested to hear a radio advert from the government whilst driving today. It was a teacher talking about how important it is that children now go back to school and how the benefits of attending go far beyond just academic learning. It was as calm but firm as the government can probably be in a radio ad - very much made it sound like it's not reasonable to keep children off anymore and people need to get their heads around that.

I also heard this great news story that some parents are protesting two schools which have been blocked from opening fully. www.theargus.co.uk/news/18544538.coronavirus-horsham-parents-protest-school-opening-blocked/ Lovely to see the fact the community there are behind things opening up.

My FB is dementor central so I've stepped away again. It's much nicer to avoid all the pessimism that's being posted.

I am so up and down, mood-wise. I have had my most sociable and busy week in ages and it's done me lots of good but fundamentally it's so hard not to be dragged down by all the doom and gloom isn't it? People are such miserable fuckers at worst.

I honestly think the aim of them is just to spread fear and doom and get themselves some attention while furiously virtue signalling at the same time. I’ve seen similar in our local pages. “Beach packed this evening, massive queues at the ice cream and chippy, no social distancing, panic, doom, (sadly) death“. Yet when walking the dog on the same beach the same evening I barely met anyone either on the beach or prom. And the ice cream shop and chippy were both (sadly) closed. Pointing this out got me blockedGrin
BarkandCheese · 26/06/2020 21:16

Evening all, I’ve had a lovely day eating pub lunch and drinking cider at the “pub” which is on the green of the village DH grew up in. The pub bring your food out to you and sell drinks in takeaway containers. I think on a hot day I prefer it to the actual beer garden.

It’s cooling down here now, but the house is still hot. DH brought the dog in for barking at pigeons on the roof (her favourite pass time but not great for the neighbours) and shut the back door. I swear the house shot up ten degrees so now the door is open again and the dog is back out but being told off every time she barks.

Nicola Sturgeon and her stupid tartan facemask has made me irrationally angry.

TheGreatWave · 26/06/2020 21:26

No rain here, it is so hot and humid. Hopefully tomorrow the rains will come.

My life is so much happier

Saltire fabric is all sold out. No really.

fartingsparkles · 26/06/2020 21:41

@wishingchair I am emotionally all over the show too. Normally resilient, get on with it type, but currently everything is so, I don't know, raw I guess. I lack motivation completely. Getting up is a chore, even though I am in bed for longer, not sleeping especially well. If I didn't have the dcs I probably wouldn't. The last few days I have been tearful so easily, for good and bad. Yesterday, partly the heat I suppose, I barely ate, just no appetite at all (totally the opposite usually), felt slightly nauseous.

Am hoping the feeling and the wider shitshow all starts to improve.

SockYarn · 26/06/2020 21:44

Well i've just had a text from the manager of the charity shop where I volunteer saying that the paid staff (so just him) will be back as of 6th July with a view to opening to the public a week after that. He needs all hands on deck as when we shut in March the shop was full of winter coats and woolly jumpers.

DS volunteers already but DD has said she'd like to help too, and as we're all in the same household we don't need to socially distance between the there of us. I'm really looking forward to getting back, it's a bit of normality.

TheGreatWave · 26/06/2020 21:53

sock that is great news, and the three of you in together will be able to make a massive difference in a shorter time.

Been catching up with you all day.

We finished Home School (I am done).

I had a call with a friend and realised she is of our position. I wish I had made more effort to speak to her one-to-one instead of assuming she was Just Fine.

Watching Glasto on telly and although I haven't been in 15 years, I'm still sorry it's taken away.

I just miss walking through the town and pooing in the gardens...

Not really. There is no reason why large groups of people need to be filthy and unhygienic.

Love to you all, my fun and my sanity xxx

Cookie79 · 26/06/2020 21:56

Been lurking on these threads since the beginning and you ladies have kept me sane. But I got a full on dementoring in my day on the office rota today and now my mood is wallowing in the gutter drinking beer (murderous beer of course).

I innocently mentioned by virtue of something work/enforcement based that with a bit of patience indoor gyms would be open soon enough. Well that set the colleague off on his gloomy predictions of gyms closed for at least a year, schools back in 2080 blah blah. Someone else then joined in with second wave predictions.

I’ve been clinging to September being relatively normal to have a hope in hell if keeping some form of employment if DD can’t get back in school. Proper school.

It’s hard to keep positive but still trying.

Argh.

HesterShaw1 · 26/06/2020 21:59

Ho Cookie, glad you posted. I think the tide is certainly turning, especially on MN. Let's hope things continue to improve.

Nihiloxica · 26/06/2020 21:59

Sock - I think I am going back to my voluntary work (well the stuff that isn't just meetings) and I'm so delighted.

DH (who doesn't really approve of the amount of time and energy I give to it) will not be delighted. But I will go back because it matters and I am really good at it.

Nihiloxica · 26/06/2020 22:02

It’s hard to keep positive but still trying.

Stick with us. We'll either cheer you up or make you laugh through the tears.

Dowser · 26/06/2020 22:14

Orange blossom

I thinker better to have kids running about on sand and splashing in the sea than cooped up indoors. Much better for them. and I agree the beach from above looked OK.

My dd said she’d heard that the Bournemouth photo was from last years air show...how true I don’t know..probably a conspiracy..but when the media used the same picture for an Italian and a New York covid ward
Then you really start to question which way is up.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 26/06/2020 22:16

I am annoyed by those squealing with delight that we’ve nearly eradicated the virus in Scotland.

Which to me sounds like these daft fuckers actually want to be welded into their homes, airports closed and Hadrian’s wall built 50’ high with a voltage running through it high enough to see off a pack of raptors.

It’s not going anywhere sunshine and some of us are going to kick the bucket.

Was sent a report today saying 1200 excess deaths in Scotland during lockdown - but fears those will be dwarfed by those who’ve missed early treatment.

I don’t wish to be too blasé- but I’m sure we can all think of more than a handful of terrible incidents which took out 1200 in one fell swoop without smiting the entire population.

And ye can fuck ye wee shitey mask Nicola.

MaudesMum · 26/06/2020 22:16

Well, I've had a lovely couple of hours drinking in a neighbour's garden. They're a bit cautious - because he's 70+ and has had massive heart problems - so I was given my own dips/snacks, but they were fine about sharing wine bottles. And it still felt delightfully normal.

And tomorrow, I am driving for several hours, to stay overnight in someone else's house!! It's my lovely nephew's 18th, and I don't think it will be a big party, but I wouldn't miss it for the world. I may even hug several family members....
