Mr Johnson looks so ill.

I abandoned the briefings early on but I was shocked to see him tonight. He looks ill and the strange manic grin makes it worse.

Apparently we aren't allowed to call Boris Boris.

He's not peoples mate ffs, Johnson with his late and half-assed lockdown has caused what percentage of the deaths of over 50,000 people? 50,000 members of someones family, 'good old Boris eh? What a card' Hmm

JustAnotherPoster00 · 23/06/2020 21:19

I present to everyone, the Tolerant Left!

Aww there there diddums did the nasty left winger insult the live action version of Pob?

mynamesmrdiggety · 23/06/2020 21:21

There's no way he's doing shifts with the baby. He's hardly a hands on father.

The thing is, he's always been like this. When we all voted for him for mayor his shambolic charm was a bit of a joke. Now it's not so charming and not a joke. I don't think he means any harm but the whole government is nowhere near competent to deal with this. It's really showing them for what those with any sense saw them as before the Brexit election.

Well he's not my mate but if people say 'Boris' I know who they mean (especially on MN) so I don't see the huge fuss really.
tinytemper66 · 23/06/2020 21:47

I too wish him no ill but he has cocked this up along with his cronies.
I can wish for him to resign.

springrollover · 23/06/2020 22:18

@Echobelly

My mum, who has CFS/ME reckons he's developing it.
I also have CFS/ME and have thought exactly the same thing.
HopeClearwater · 23/06/2020 22:23

@LellyMcKelly but he’s much more like Boris Yeltsin, a mean and ruthless charlatan in the skin of a drunken honey monster

This is a comment so apt that it should be shared repeatedly.

wowfudge · 23/06/2020 22:36

Never mind what Boris looks like - the crucial comment in today's briefing was Chris Whitty's. He said he would be surprised and delighted if we were where we are now in the winter.

HopeClearwater · 23/06/2020 22:41

Chris Whitty is like some kind of modern day Cassandra. Talks the truth but is destined never to be believed.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/06/2020 22:46

I thought he was non functioning actually...functionally alcoholics keep doing a good job despite their addiction.

I stand corrected, Whippetter

Yes - I picked that up as well. This is a temporary reprieve.

And HopeclearWater is right about everyone ignoring his warnings

Mumratheevergiving · 23/06/2020 23:29

At last his official diagnosis & it's a chronic case of Cheeky Fucker Syndrome!

Bluster bluster - stay at home, go to work, go to the shops apart from when you are playing golf, don't feed hungry children, go to the pub, go to school cherrypickedyearsonly ,press lots of buttons at the arcade, but don't go for a swim, feed hungry children, latin phrase, go to a restaurant, go to the cinema, don't go to the theatre, go to a museum, don't go bowling, go to the PUB!

This stream of incoherent nonsense is what normally swirls round in Johnson's head unfortunately it's now manifest as our national pandemic policy.

Has it really got so bad that people are eyeing up Pob Gove as a better bet?!

B1rdbra1n · 24/06/2020 00:22

What about telling us all to get on our bikes but overlooking the fact that there are no suitable places in which to ride them ☹️
We're all having to live according to his priorities, which are that children should be abandoned and alcohol should be consumed

feelingverylazytoday · 24/06/2020 00:48

They don't have to do a 'good' job, functioning just means being able to hold down a job, pay the bills, and live a relatively normal life whilst being dependent on alco. Of course it's possible he's a functioning alcoholic, but then you can say that about many people.
randomer · 24/06/2020 07:51

Its curious isn't it , how he managed to ingrain himself in the collective psyche as " good old Boris"....he gets it/he understands us/he may be a toff but he's a laugh.

Chris Whitty didn't mince his words, nobody listening though.

I disagree, I know lots of people who drink vast quantities and they still do a great job, they are very senior and are trusted in their decision making. I would not describe someone as functioning if the reality is they weren't doing their job properly. Boris Johnson is not making great decisions at the moment - he is not coming across as competent. He is non-functioning, for whatever reason I do not know, maybe he is just shit at his job because he's in over his head and maybe alcohol is playing a part in that...but by most people's judgement (including his own party's) he is not functioning adequately.

I am always amazed that people buy his carefully constructed persona. Two members of dh's family have - never quite got over that, one is wavering now, the other is still enjoying him and all his laughs.
randomer · 24/06/2020 08:43

" enjoying him and all his laughs"???

How do they do it, these people? Must be the press I suppose pulling the strings. Can you imagine if it was a female, she would be wripped to shreds .

OP posts:
Peregrina · 24/06/2020 08:51

A female or member of any other party would be pulled to shreds.

Male Tory MPs usually get a free pass when having a bit on the side, but only with the one woman. I can't think of any other Tory MP who would be able to pass off being a serial shagger and serial liar yet be hailed as a lovable, fun figure.

randomer · 24/06/2020 09:05

Oh and by the way, you are allowed to call Boris , Boris or Al, or Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson or whatever you please.

Just as you allowed to sing Baa Baa blacksheep, watch Faulty Towers or sing Swing Low Sweet Chariot.

I agree - we had to stop talking about Johnson, were definitely at falling out stage.Somehow I think he brings out the maternal side in some women. He's doing his best they said, but his best isn't good enough!!! He's not 10 years old and this is not an school art project - his incompetence is costing people's lives, he should resign if he can't do the job properly.
Neighbourfriendneighbour · 24/06/2020 09:31

I thought 2017 would have been a stressful year for the PM (Grenfell Tower, Manchester bombing, London Bridge ) but TM probably had a lucky escape before having to deal with covid 19 and Brexit. (Although I think I would have trusted her more.....although her delivery of speech, while nowhere near as blustery as BJ, was slightly robotic )

Neighbourfriendneighbour · 24/06/2020 09:39

However shit he might be is, I cant imagine that anyone else will want to be PM and have the responsibility for the ongoing position and aftermath.
I really wish that traditional one party governing could be suspended and that there could be a cross party collaboration working together with reasonable and credible MPs from all parties .....but obviously that's wishful thinking, even half the Tory party can't/dont want to work with him.....

Samcro · 24/06/2020 09:46

the way he shut down the MP from Brighton and Hove showed what a tosser he is.
maybe he looks it as he has realised that thanks to his inept government, thousands of people have died in care homes.

ODFOx · 24/06/2020 10:15

He's still recovering from a near fatal case of COVID 19 and is living with a newborn. Plus trying to do his job. Of course he looks tired. If he didn't then he'd be accused of slacking off.
