Loo roll panic buying shaming: FALSE!

I panic bought loo roll over several stressful supermarket trips (ie, not intentionally). I’m not proud. Shortly after, and prompted by many media reports condemning me and my kind as solely responsible for the fall of a nation, I used that online calculator to assess how many months’ of rolls I’d selfishly seized from the hands of the vulnerable. I as horrified to find the 2x 16 packs and remainder of our usual supply would last the 3 of us until Christmas- 10 months.

Absolute bollocks! That was about 4 months ago and I think we’ll need more at the end of July.

I clearly bought way too much but that calculator was designed by someone who I imagine does not live with a toddler, does not menstruate and probably doesn’t use it when they pee...

That is all.

But you still have a spare 6weeks supply of loo roll. After 12weeks of lockdown.
You are a sinner. lol.

AriettyHomily · 20/06/2020 18:28

I'm sure my kids eat it. I didn't panic but but there would be no point as it would just disappear.

We
Did reach a stage of rationing in the beginning though, don't want to end up back there again. Hopefully people have learnt their lesson about panic buying.

32 rolls is supposed to last you till Christmas? How? In normal times I buy 24 pack once a month/5 weeks. There’s 3 of us.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 20/06/2020 18:42

We use a roll a day. Easily.

Redcrayons · 20/06/2020 18:44

Ask please link to the toilet roll use calculator, because I feel the need to know this information know.

(Absolutely not to avoid the 12ft high washing pile.)

ElizabethMainwaring · 20/06/2020 18:45

We use one roll over two days
There are two of us
There was someone on here recently who said that one roll lasted 5 weeks.
I knowConfused

Vicbarbarkley · 20/06/2020 18:48

One roll over two days????
Two adults here. I bought a 36 pack the week before lockdown. I still have 20 left. So I have used 16 toilet rolls in erm..... 14 weeks???

How do you use so much loo roll?

Am I not wiping enough? Bleugh......

HunkyPunk · 20/06/2020 18:50

Hopefully people have learnt their lesson about panic buying.

Grin (They won't have!)

User1937 · 20/06/2020 18:53

We get through about 4 a week, so I order 48 from Who Gives A Crap every 12 weeks. But their rolls are bigger, so it’d be more like 6 a week of the standard ones.

ElizabethMainwaring · 20/06/2020 18:56

I'm stunned
About 8 sheets a poo
About 4 sheets a wee
Plus general cleaning in the bathroom.
eg, spraying Dettol on the toilet seats and lid. Wiping around the sink etc.
Wiping floor around bath
Also cleaning mirror in bathroom
Blowing nose
Cleaning hair from combs and brushes

PervyMuskrat · 20/06/2020 18:57

I can easily use a roll a day but I have IBS so a 16 pack when we’re all at home would last less than a fortnight. DH thinks it’s outrageous but it is what it is [shrug]

ElizabethMainwaring · 20/06/2020 18:57

That was to @vicbarbarkley

canigooutyet · 20/06/2020 19:01

Since lock down two of us have gone through 45 rolls. Amazon sub and save deliver them along with cat litter

1forAll74 · 20/06/2020 19:04

Did you buy all the pkts of Paracetamol as well..? You can cut down toilet roll use if you are careful. and not pull off a half a roll for one sitting.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 20/06/2020 19:07

I buy 45 rolls a month Grin

Vicbarbarkley · 20/06/2020 19:16

@ElizabethMainwaring
😁
I only use to wipe. Use about the same as you do, but never use it for anything else.
Does it not just break apart and leave bits everywhere if you clean with it?
I use cloth for cleaning, tissues for nose blowing, karcher for mirror and glass and just kind of yank hair out of brushes.

I is uncouth 😂

Shitfuckoh · 20/06/2020 19:17

@1forAll74 you don't live with young children do you? Grin

OP I bought 12 (all be it cheap emergency ones as ASDA had none on my previous delivery!) Monday.. They've gone already! Thankfully I had a ASDA delivery today where they were able to delivery 16... Not cheap ones this time, so let's see how long they last with my monsters.

JacobReesMogadishu · 20/06/2020 19:21

We use a roll a day here as well. 3 of us in the house, one loo.

JacobReesMogadishu · 20/06/2020 19:22

And I only use 2 sheets (folded) per wipe. I blame Dd!

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/06/2020 19:24

You didn't buy it intentionally?
Was buying it an accident?

Chrisinthemorning · 20/06/2020 19:25

My lesson:
I had a massive stash of loo roll for a no deal Brexit. Loo roll will be in short supply as all wood pulp imported from EU.
I learned that people panic buy loo roll in a crisis, it doesn’t go off so always have at least 100 rolls in your airing cupboard if you can. Grin

MillicentMartha · 20/06/2020 19:26

I bought 16 because that’s all there was. We finished them last week. 3 of us so about 1 and a half rolls a week. What do you you lot do with the stuff?

TheSmelliestHouse · 20/06/2020 19:31

4 of us, probably a roll every 2 days.
