I suppose there is hope that this 1m rule may be temporary and at some point things can return to normal. Maybe they (hospitality) may get some kind of subsidy during this time? Not sure.

I wondered the same about leisure centres and gyms if their classes and pools need to run at reduced capacity too. Ours just spent millions last year on refurbishments. The classes were already often fully booked.

NannyPhlegm · 22/06/2020 18:19

@AnxiousElephant77 Same here...a couple of hours with a group of children divided in alphabetical order. My daughter is with none of her mates, and ever since we got the email today she's been low. She said this is the saddest she's felt in the whole of the lockdown. Which has made me feel like shit that I can't make this better for her.

AnxiousElephant77 · 22/06/2020 18:22

Isn't it crap. Ds has said, 'so no mates and no football? Do I have to go?'

Shock
ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 22/06/2020 18:24

I thought I heard her say that education was very important and there were big risks not being in school, but infuriatingly no-one followed up with a question about when schools could reopen. The narrative that parents are too scared but schools are open is just going unchallenged.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 22/06/2020 18:24

Sorry, “her”= Harries, I took too long to post.

Drivingdownthe101 · 22/06/2020 18:25
@TrustTheGeneGenie I completely agree. How is anything going to get moving if we can't just move forward?! Even hospitality is saying, 'well yes we can break even at 1m, but we won't be making any profit.' So we can hardly call 1m plus a win, really!

I am possibly feeling a little irritated as we had an email from ds school. He's Y5, they are letting them go in on 1st July for 45 minutes. Arranged into time slots by surname, so he's there for 45 minutes with anyone in his class with a surname starting with the letters P to Z.

What's the bloody point? It'll take more effort getting the kid out the house, and unless his mates are alphabetically there at the same time, he won't see them. I appreciate them trying, I really do. I don't mean to be awful but it really does seem a complete waste of time.
That is rubbish. Year 5 went back full time at our school today.

rookiemere · 22/06/2020 18:29

Someone was looking for a Scottish coastal location with loos, this website might be helpful www.lockdownloo.com

Dowser · 22/06/2020 18:35

Well I’ve still got hair And it’s brightened the top a bit, but not a huge change, and it didn’t go totall pear shaped.
I suspect my hairdresser uses a bit more bleach
It needs a good inch off, eventhough the colour wasn’t allowed down there.
I’m shocked at the weight I’ve gained.
Must try much, much Harder
Especially as I haven’t tried much at all

Let me know what you think.
( I’m not attempting the mnet hair cut..a recipe for disaster undoubtably

Not happy that they’ve changed the topic for tonight’s meeting from protection to dragon energy lines.
We are always doing energy lines and was really looking forward to protection

Anyway here goes

@Drivingdownthe101, I’m so envious- DD is year 5 and won’t see the inside of her school again till September. If then, I wrote in to ask if they expect Year 6 (as she is about to be) to be in school in September, and got an email saying the government expects all pupils to be in school next terms. My reply was polite but the strain nearly killed me!

Mascotte · 22/06/2020 18:37

@Dowser that's really nice! I'd keep him 😃

@rookiemere cheers for that. I have to go somewhere this weekend I am stir crazy.

pearlypidge · 22/06/2020 18:40

I am still so angry about schools.

My DS have been having online lessons, so they have at least been having some semblance of an education.

My sister's DC, though... her daughter is Y6. Their primary said they would have them back Mon-Thur for full days for the rest of the term - fantastic. She was so happy, and came skipping out of school every day. Everything had seemed to work just fine.

Then at the end of the first week back, the school emailed all the parents to say that the government had changed the roolz; they no longer had to have Y6's back; and as they had soooo many key worker children, sorry, they were not going to have the Y6's back in school again this term.

My niece was absolutely devastated when she found out, and has been really upset ever since Sad

Dowser · 22/06/2020 18:40

That’s tonight’s dowsing meeting..in half an hour

Dowser · 22/06/2020 18:46

Thank you mascotte.
It’s a lot blonder at the bottom ( over processed more like) but what the heck
We sort of know what we’re doing
One of my daughters in law might be able to trim it.

Nihiloxica · 22/06/2020 18:46

That is a rotten thing to do to children.

I would be looking to move my children out of a school that could be so cruel.

HesterShaw1 · 22/06/2020 18:47

@Dowser that looks nice! All shiny!

Don't try the MN haircut. I did and ended up with a poor approximation of The Rachel Hmm

LittleSwede · 22/06/2020 18:48

Love the hair Dowser!

I let DH cut mine using the four ponytail method a few weeks ago. I have wavy/curly hair. To begin with it looked slightly bohemian and almost cool, now it looks like I'm in an 80s soft rock band Grin

Mascotte · 22/06/2020 18:48

I trimmed mine with the aid of YouTube. It recommended thinning shears to avoid obvious disaster, as well as cutting when dry. It worked ok!

@InsaneInTheViralMembrane lipstick ordered. I've gone for Outlaw 😃

HesterShaw1 · 22/06/2020 18:49

@pearlypidge I'm aghast that a school could do that to its own pupils. That's scandalous.

SockYarn · 22/06/2020 18:49

I hear you, @pearlypidge. We had the email today from our secondary school in Scotland today, each of my kids is being offered 1 week in three in school. No guarantee that they'll be in on the same days. Very piss poor.

Also got a phonecall from school about my oldest and once I'd picked myself off the floor in shock had a long chat with his year head about how he's not engaging with the online learning, not responding to messages and failing to turn in work.

Spudlet · 22/06/2020 18:51

Kicking myself hard here... we were meant to join a Zoom call with DSs reception teacher and the other parents and I completely forgot. I was dealing quite well with everything but this extra little bit of stress and stupidity has tipped me over the edge and currently fighting the urge to start self-harming, I’m so angry with myself. How could I be so useless and let DS down like that.

I’m so sick of everything, I just want to run away.

NannyPhlegm · 22/06/2020 18:53

@pearlypidge That has left me speechless

Now that we all have to go back to work, can we just fricking ban this key worker malarkey?

Teateaandmoretea · 22/06/2020 18:54

Flowers spudlet seriously sweetheart this doesn’t matter at all. Not even slightly. It won’t affect DS and to save face you can always say your WiFi bombed out xx

NannyPhlegm · 22/06/2020 18:57

@Spudlet I've done that. It doesn't matter. It really doesn't. Nobody will remember that you didn't log in. And as Tea says, just say your wi-fi died of anyone asks. Which they won't!

Take care of yourself. You're more important to your DC than a Zoom call

Drivingdownthe101 · 22/06/2020 18:58

@Spudlet it honestly won’t matter at all. There will be plenty of other opportunities to chat with the parents and teacher Flowers

Teateaandmoretea · 22/06/2020 18:58

You're more important to your DC than a Zoom call

^^ain’t that the truth. Everyone hates zoom now anyway, it will be synonymous with covid forever more Wink
