Morning all - has a lovely evening drinks with friends in the park yesterday afternoon /evening. It was very very busy. @KaronAVyrus - your dads poster made me laugh... under her eye... Grinshe'd have had a fit if she saw the park yesterday and immediately locked us all up.
Thanks for the banana curry recipes from a while back @DrearyWallAntler and another PP. Def worth a look!
@Jourdain11 - lovely to hear you're at home. And DEF not a dementor Wink

@OhFuckOffWithTheBubbleBollocks

Sorry, all my posts seem to be about me shielding, but the rest of MN and RL seems to be so tipped towards the dementory end of the scale on this issue, I really feel like screaming sometimes. It's nice to be able to say how I feel here and know people would understand.
Shielding is hard, I don't think anyone sane would blame you for wanting to talk about it. If chatting to us merry murderers helps you keep a healthy sense of perspective, which I think is probably very hard if you're having no in-person contact, then job's a goodun.
LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 21/06/2020 11:39

I have broken my shielding and gone (extremely carefully) to a shop. I have cake. I haven't been this happy in (literally) months!

It is the little things.

I think everyone needs to do own risk assements.

There's a poster in coronvirus topics who has to isolate two weeks before op - I suggested a possible dog walking service but did think if you're really in the countryside and really not going to meet anyone walking the dog surely it's obvioulsy not going to be an issue with corovirus testing and you don't need to ask strangers for permission.

I had a good day yesterday but am just feeling completely mentally ill today. It always gets worse when I'm approaching my period; I've now had three under lockdown and they get worse every single time. I ended up just going back to bed and crying this morning.

FluffyKittensinabasket · 21/06/2020 12:02

I find it funny that at 23:59 on the day before they ease the two metre rule, it’s dangerous. Then at 00:00 you can get within a metre of people, magically.

Nihiloxica · 21/06/2020 12:16

Well that's always the way with rules or guidelines.

BogRollBOGOF · 21/06/2020 12:23

What's amused me about the rollercoaster queue setup at the supermarket is that the spots/ lines are 2m apart from the person ahead/ behind... but only a metre where the queue folds back on itself...
Not that I've queued more about 5 people deep to get in at all.

Like best before dates. Milk goes off at midnight...

FluffyKittensinabasket · 21/06/2020 12:30

It’s against the law to have sex at 23:59 but you can a minute later. That was the case with being able to see no-conhabiting partners!

Yes, isn't it brilliant? Spot on!

Morning (oops, OK its afternoon but I'm being lazy and still sitting in my room waiting for DH to get over his hangover and get dressed!) fellow ADs.
Was feeling very hormonal and grumpy yesterday, frustrated with DH (currently in a depressed phase of his Bipolar II) and ragey at the world.
Lovely neighbour text and suggested a Solstice drink BBQ, so I stocked up on food, wine and got some wood for Chimnea. We opened the garden gates (opposite each other across the small gap between the houses) and spent the evening moving between gardens and drinking by the fire, while the DCs flitted between houses and toasted marshmallows (Social distancing was largely forgotten, DS2 even got in their hottub!). It was heavenly and I feel so much happier with the world after a rubbish week or two.

Traditional walk to a special tree for Fathers' day shortly then seeing DH's DF at SIL's later in her garden.

Have a lovely day, everyone Smile can't find aubergine emoji

Have just dropped an email to the Zoe app - they've added some questions about weight loss/gain, alcohol, snacking and activity levels to the app to look at wider health effects of Covid and lockdown. I'm reporting on behalf of DS5 and DS2 as well as myself - both have gained weight in lockdown, but not for the reasons the app seems to be exploring. Grin

It will be interesting to see if they can quantify the effect of lockdown on the nation's health.

My plan for murdering is more specific today as my neighbours have decided to get fucking wind chimes!! The perfect addition to lockdown, I think you'll agree. And where I live is really windy.

My neighbours did that but luckily put them outside their lounge - they lasted half an hour in a slight breeze and were totally removed. 🤣🤣 They commented afterwards, they thought of putting them somewhere else but decided that good neighbour relationships were more important.

I think with a lot of the dementors, it's a variation of the 'sunk cost fallacy'. They NEED to be proved right so that they don't have to feel that they've wasted all that time worrying and dementing.

Littlebelina · 21/06/2020 13:49

The evidence discussion is interesting. I've noticed a general trend of anything negative (eg ibuprofen, Kawasaki, long term effects) being heavily commented and reported on and sometimes blown out of all proportion. Anything positive seems to be dismissed as it's too soon to tell or because others disagree or just because people seem to refuse to believe it. Wasn't sure if this was just me imagining it because I want the positive stuff to be true

I think a lot of things are stiĺl very early and a lot evidence (both ways) isn't where you'll like it to be and needs to be judged with that in mind. However we do make to judgement calls on what we have as we don't have the luxury to pause life indefinitely. I'd put myself in the middle ground for a lot of issues discussed here but think constant doom mongering about things is far from helpful

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 21/06/2020 14:00

Hello! Just checking in.

I drove past a pub last night - there were people out in the garden sitting around tables drinking pints. Is that officially allowed yet? (I'm in England) I can't remember. Anyway, it was a brilliant thing to see. The weather was perfect for it too. I am so so excited for the gym to open up, it will do my mental health wonders if I can go. I also still need to book a hotel stay somewhere. I just hardly dare do it in case this isn't real. Grin

I have 2 things in my diary for next week involving other people. Two. I feel so spoiled!

I think they can do 'take away' - and if people then just happen to drink their 'take away' in the pub garden then it is just about within the letter of the law. Take away cafes can have people eating outside.
Spudlet · 21/06/2020 14:12

Checking in here too! Tomorrow is S-Day (new stove fitting time!) so we’re off to buy extra dust-sheets shortly. We’re meant to stay out of the room as much as possible, but since we have no hall (front door opens to living room, kitchen is directly off that and the stairs are straight off the living room too) that will be somewhat challenging... not to mention keeping ddog and DS from ‘helping’ - though fortunately DS is at preschool for most of the day.

Wish me luck ConfusedGrin

I have noticed this too.

People have been very "we have to follow the science" when the science tells us all to stay indoors or meet our sudden death. Now they don't believe they same science because not all scientists agree, or they want more evidence. Things they weren't bothered about before when they fully trusted the science.

"The science" has to be balanced with everything else and I think people forget that.

Willitneverend · 21/06/2020 14:37

Can we add Shopping Dementors to the list? I had someone tut at me for going the wrong way around one. I was confused about where the queue for the till was. I fucking hate this now.

DS now starts humming or making noises when the infernal Professor Leitch ads come on. He says it is like an "Intruder coming into your house" when he's getting into a Youtube video and it comes on.

Willitneverend · 21/06/2020 14:39

Fellow Scottish ADs - You can get pints at Brewdog, and food. People hang around outside it (or at least the one we were at yesterday), just keep an eye out of the police.

Willow2017 · 21/06/2020 14:47

Littlebelina
That's true. The 'science's only right if its bad. Anything else is unproven, too soon to trust or plain wrong. It's getting boring now.

Worldgonecrazy · 21/06/2020 14:47

Having a lovely weekend at the beach and was feeling mostly normal until the new guy in the ice cream kiosk wouldn’t hand me my cone but insisted on putting it in the cone holder . They’ve also stopped their loyalty card scheme even though according to a scientist bod the virus can’t be passed on cardboard.

Orangeblossom78 · 21/06/2020 15:18

We had a pack about starting the big school for youngest DS and it had the dates etc in the Autumn along with the wee trip they do for all the new starters. It does say at the bottom may be changed but it was good to see that the dates on there and promising might be going ahead fingers crossed.

Willow2017 · 21/06/2020 15:18

That's nuts. We are still using our loyalty cards at work.
Jobs all done and just noticed the thread reminding every one the world's supposed to end today again. Complete forgot! Didn't need to wash work stuff for tomorrow after all dammit.😄
