There's something alive in the cereal box...

Oh god, I'm sat working at the kitchen table and there are definite rustling and scratching sounds coming from one of the cereal packets behind me. It's a mouse isn't it?!

Now I'm going to have to be a grown up and work out which box it's in and deal with it!!

I'm having such rubbish time at the moment and now Mr. Scratchy is creating a nest in my house, ugh!

Get it outside ASAP. You.are going to have to go tbrough all your food cupboards looking for evidence and cleaning the cupboards and containers and binning any contaminated food.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 19/06/2020 16:09

Do you have a hamster/small pet that could have escaped?

I heard a rustling/nibbling noise under my bed one night. Peered over the edge expecting to see a mouse. Nope. Just the hamster who was so huge it could lift the lid on its cage and and come upstairs Grin

I spent all night trying to catch the fucker.

bubbleup · 19/06/2020 16:09

Yup mouse. Get rid

LadyofTheManners · 19/06/2020 16:11

I'm sorry to have to break it you OP

You will have to move out today

The house is now the property of the mouse.

Run the fuck away

Only moderately kidding

managedmis · 19/06/2020 16:13

Uh, walk away?

Shock
HollowTalk · 19/06/2020 16:13

I think if it's been in that box it's been in the others, so I would throw them all away. Or I'd get someone else to do that!

PragmaticWench · 19/06/2020 16:16

Lady we have an extension being built. It has no floors or windows but we could move in there right?!

I feel sick, it's pee must be all over my kitchen. Definitely going to have to decontaminate once it's out.

Now, is Mr. Scratchy in the free-from honey hoops or in the disgusting chocolate weetabix?

First, I need to find some bravery

Can't you keep it as a pet and call it Russell?! Grin

Sorry OP, couldn't resist that, but I have to say that much as I love mice, I nearly jumped out of my knickers when one ran across my foot when we were emptying my dad's garage last year! So be prepared, they are very quick.

Hope you can also find where the wee bugger got in, too.

You will have to negotiate with the mouse...

I would suggest asking a neighbour cat to be intermediary in negotiations

Windyatthebeach · 19/06/2020 16:18

Yabu not not be grateful to Kellog's for your free gift!!
They are cutting down on plastic tat it seems!!

PragmaticWench · 19/06/2020 16:20

Carrie Russell is brilliant! Although I'm feeling pale at the reality of him...

forgetthehousework · 19/06/2020 16:21

At least it's unlikely to be rat, but if it is you call it Basil ...

Tiredmumno1 · 19/06/2020 16:22

@Windyatthebeach 😂😂

KitKat1985 · 19/06/2020 16:23

Oh dear. I'd take all the cereals into the garden (since Mr scratchy has likely been in more than one box so you are going to have to chuck them all anyway) and go through the boxes until you find him.

PragmaticWench · 19/06/2020 16:24

If only we had a pet hamster, I could just tip both boxes back into their cage.

We have a dog but she's snoring. Perhaps we should have got a cat?

Mice are cute! Obviously deal with the one in the box! Get a couple of human traps, they love applesauce as bate. We caught lots, couldn't work it out but when kitchen was finally replaced there was a huge whole by tumble vent they were simply walking through.

draughtycatflap · 19/06/2020 16:27

What if you look in the box and it’s a hand trying to climb out. Then you’d wish it had been a mouse!

Tiredmumno1 · 19/06/2020 16:28

Have you chucked any outside yet @PragmaticWench? I'd hate to be you right now (sorry that doesn't help 😁)

PragmaticWench · 19/06/2020 16:30

@draughtycatflap okay that is a gruesome thought but does help actually, a mouse can't grab me by the throat!

OP posts:
PragmaticWench · 19/06/2020 16:31

I'm moving everything off the worktop near the boxes so I can work out which box the incontinent little bugger is in.

OP posts:
Multicoloured · 19/06/2020 16:33

Calm down op, it might not be a mouse. It might be a huge spider

Tiredmumno1 · 19/06/2020 16:34

Ooooo @Multicoloured just took it to a new level Shock

forgetthehousework · 19/06/2020 16:34

"Perhaps we should get a cat"

Our cats always regarded mice actually in the house as legitimate residents and refused to do anything about them!
Sometimes they would even bring another mouse in, to give the original one a play date.

PragmaticWench · 19/06/2020 16:35

I can hear SQUEAKING 😱
