There's something alive in the cereal box...

Oh god, I'm sat working at the kitchen table and there are definite rustling and scratching sounds coming from one of the cereal packets behind me. It's a mouse isn't it?!

Now I'm going to have to be a grown up and work out which box it's in and deal with it!!

I'm having such rubbish time at the moment and now Mr. Scratchy is creating a nest in my house, ugh!

Phew spiders don't squeak. Hope you can get it outta there quickly.

forgetthehousework · 19/06/2020 16:39

Not a spider then - unless it's playing a tiny mouseorgan Grin

HighOnStilts · 19/06/2020 16:39

Omg following this thread 😅

SoupDragon · 19/06/2020 16:40

You know that there is never only a mouse, right...?

Multicoloured · 19/06/2020 16:40

@forgetthehousework

"Perhaps we should get a cat"

Our cats always regarded mice actually in the house as legitimate residents and refused to do anything about them!
Sometimes they would even bring another mouse in, to give the original one a play date.

We had a mouse for a while which was ignored by our terrier! Stupid useless mutt would watch the bugger run around the living room of an evening.
KitKat1985 · 19/06/2020 16:45

My last cat used to bring mice into the house to play with and present to us as presents....

frumpety · 19/06/2020 16:50

You need to take it far away , not just release it in the garden, otherwise it will come back for more cereal !

PragmaticWench · 19/06/2020 16:50

So, DH is currently pissing himself over my 'mousey monster'.

I put both boxes into a large plastic tub, carried them outside and very bravely opened them...to find a beetle!! A big beetle but still, not quite a mouse.

Seems I may have imagined the squeaking. Blush

Their favourite things to bring in were frogs, which always used to hop under the most inaccessible bit of furniture.

But back to @PragmaticWench -
Are you going to open the box or take the money?

Tiredmumno1 · 19/06/2020 16:53

I don't know what's funnier, the fact it was a beetle or that you imagined squeaking 😁 maybe the beetle was playing the tiny mouseorgan 😂

Coldemort · 19/06/2020 16:54

Maybe beetle is an Animagus 🤔

SoupDragon · 19/06/2020 16:55

Perhaps it was a decoy beetle and the mouse snuck out the back?

heidipi · 19/06/2020 16:56

Arf at squeaking beetle Grin
Excellent that you don't have to spend your Friday night decontaminating the kitchen and setting traps. Was it the weetabix or honey hoops, just out of interest? My money's on the hoops.

@heidipi you were right on the money, it was the hoops.

OhMsBeliever · 19/06/2020 16:59

Where's a photo of the beetle? I need a photo! Grin

forgetthehousework · 19/06/2020 16:59

I reckon it was like a scene from an Indiana Jones movie, where the plucky heroine gets covered with insects while escaping from some desperate situation.

CarolVordermansArse · 19/06/2020 16:59

Maybe it was a friend of the bee I found in the cupboard earlier. I could hear little noises and opened up shopping bags, nothing. Looked in bins, nothing. Opened cupboard door and a fluffy bee flew out and went straight for the closed window instead of the open door it would have entered by. So, of course I opened the window and one of his pals flew in.

One of those days.

TARSCOUT · 19/06/2020 16:59

Giganticshark · 19/06/2020 17:04

I saw a mouse, where? There on the stair! Where on the stair? right there!
A LITTLE MOUSE WITH CLOGS ON

SuckingDownDarjeeling · 19/06/2020 17:05

Could it not just be the prize inside? Grin

PragmaticWench · 19/06/2020 17:09

DH is going to keep reminding me of this, oh jeez...

It is probably a mouse. cockroaches don't make much noise !
I have just found a dead mouse behind my fridge freezer, and two more dead mice actually in the back of the freezer workings. I have cats who sometimes bring mice in, then the mice get lost and die somewhere.
I have pulled the fridge out, as it has broken down, so ordered another one, as usually don't get the fridge out to clean underneath it.
