There seems to be calm about the alert level so far, think things are getting more reasonable (hopefully)

Drivingdownthe101 · 19/06/2020 12:21

I’m surprised at positive news (re alert level) on a Friday, especially as it’s supposed to be quite sunny in a lot of places tomorrow! Will we pay for it by having Whitty dooming at us in the daily sadly died briefing?

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 19/06/2020 12:22

Dementors' heads exploding left right and centre on Twitter with the threat level lowered to 3 😂

Now saying the scientists clearly can't be trusted and aren't independent!!!

FFS. Do they actively want us to remain in bloody lockdown purgatory forever? How could they even justify keeping it at 4 when approx 1 in 1700 people are currently infected? How?
MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 19/06/2020 12:25

@RubberDinghyRapids

It's interesting your tests are negative. Lots of reports that some may never test positive as their own immune system dealt with virus and didn't need to develop specific antibodies. So you may be immune but won't know!

BarkandCheese · 19/06/2020 12:27

We're down to level three now? I've missed that by being out on a murderous shopping spree. Am now sitting in the park with a delicious latte and Greek pastry thing with feta and olives in, although seeing as part of the reason for the spree was getting too fat for my clothing this is probably self defeating.

I'm racking my brains for Hawaii party games. Maybe owning with coconuts instead of balls, a version of Simon says with things like surf and hula dance as instructions, bobbing for pineapples, okay maybe not the last one.

On the NT front we've managed to score tickets for Sheffield park next week. We're spoilt for choice with NT places near me, but we picked Sheffield park because they've got their outdoor food but open. NT visits aren't the same without tea and cake.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 19/06/2020 12:27

I'm off to the border in a couple of hours to murder lots plus take a couple of lions with me at the same time.

Yes, we have chester zoo membership!!

BakewellTarts · 19/06/2020 12:28

Right poked my nose into active and between the holiday cottage thread and the poor me don't call me a dementor thread I've decided I'm sticking here.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 19/06/2020 12:28

I got NT tickets but was up at 5am to get in queue. Might try midnight thurs next week in case they release them like Tesco.

I wish they released them for more than a week ahead though.

Allflightscancelled · 19/06/2020 12:32

Think I may fancy an NT visit this weekend

Belated Flowers from me @LivinLaVidaLoki. For your poor aunt to go through all that and then die anyway. Just awful Sad

I suspect @Drivingdownthe101 we are now expected to get out there and do our civic duty by shopping over this weekend!
InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 19/06/2020 12:35

When are we going to just come out with it and say “doesn’t look like immunity lasts - let’s crack on”. We cannot live like this forever - we can’t “lockdown Luton” for 3 months a year for the next 20 years.

So glad I found you all. Going from washing my hands after touching my neighbour’s milk which I added to my delivery - so was washing my hands after bringing it into the house and going to her... 😳 through finding joy in my child falling out of a tree with fellow risk-assessors.

BogRollBOGOF · 19/06/2020 12:35

DS2 has a favourite cider Blush
Never, ever call that child's bluff, it is always regretted...
We were in Cornwall last year (for some pre-emptive murder Wink ) and went around the Healy's orchard and duly came out with supplies of Rattler. The DCs asked to try it. DS1, sensible as ever pulls a face. DS2's face lights up in the special kind of way that inevitably gives us a sinking feeling Grin

Teateaandmoretea · 19/06/2020 12:36

Is the holiday cottage thread still going? That poor woman who started it

bengalcat · 19/06/2020 12:40

@InsaneInTheViralMembrane I’m with you . Glad we’ve come down to a 3 . Now just need to reduce distancing down to 1m , have as credible a track and trace as we can given we’re not a compliant police state , aim all kids back to school / certainly by September and have a plan for how to manage the inevitable autumn/ winter peak of standard viral infections given the differential of Covid and certain resurgence of hysteria . We’ve had no Covid on our ITU for three weeks now .

Dowser · 19/06/2020 12:40

Sock yarn
My first visit ever to the west coast. Oban end of June. Three year ago I think
Everyone sweltering down here, BBQs going full tilt, yes even in the north east and it was fucking 12 degrees in Oban
I had my winter gear on
Trying to eat fish and chips in the drizzle.
My god
We were staying in a beautiful apartment right on Loch melfort..there was a boat that went with..well that didn’t happen..this was our bit of luxury on our SCottish tour..4 nights, £400 as there was only two of us ( they locked the other bedroom in case we sneaked anyone in lol)
All the rest had been just Travelodges in Berwick, Stirling, then onto ayr and carlisle
The sun came out the day we left the lakes
Soooo disappointed
Oban is pretty much one road in and one road out ..there wasn’t a lot to do after we’d done the high st
We did go to the Stone circles at kilmartin , then last day back to Oban to get more rained on
Never been more miserable in my life

Oh it was beautiful. We got an odd glimpse when the sun came out but I don’t think I could do it ever again.

RubberDinghyRapids · 19/06/2020 12:40

@MrsArchchancellorRidcully Not negative (yet, although everyone in my team has been so far). Just not had a result. Waited two weeks for the first one, which was to say the lab failed to test my blood and to re-book. Dutifully had a second one done and still awaiting the result. Neighbouring general hospitals have had quick turnaround for theirs but ours have been erratic and/or failed. They're going through the same labs so I suspect the fault is with our Occy Health dept.

Allflightscancelled · 19/06/2020 12:41

There's more now in a similar vein!

Drivingdownthe101 · 19/06/2020 12:42

Love that I’ve been called an anti dementor ‘head girl’ by a chief dementor. Polishing my badge and digging out my school tie as we speak (well I would be if I hadn’t gone to a shitty comp that didn’t even have a school uniform).
I’m guessing I’ve crossed swords with bubbleup on another thread, but don’t remember it.

Allflightscancelled · 19/06/2020 12:44

@Dowser we've always been crazy lucky on the west coast of Scotland. It has always been gorgeous weather whenever we went. Spent many a scorching week in Oban, Kerrera (sp?), Mull and surrounds, had happy sunny weeks in Arran, got sunburn on Coll and went to Jura on a day that was like the Caribbean Shock. Not at all sure how we manage it.

HesterShaw1 · 19/06/2020 12:44

@Teateaandmoretea

Ah no, it's a different one.

The one where the OP is being advised to demand a discount because she can't get into the cottage until 7pm and has to be out by 9am, because of Covid cleaning.

Apparently this will disrupt bedtimes for a whole week with most people's children. Now I know I have said I have no kids so I accept I might be BU, but I've holidayed with them for bloody years.

Dowser · 19/06/2020 12:45

I. Going to middlesbrough today
Going to see my friend with the crystal shop, going to a proper health shop and everywhere else in between 👍

mylittleyumyum · 19/06/2020 12:47

[quote Ibake]@yumyum found this, some of it a bit too young and I know you're at the improvise stage now but maybe a bit of inspiration. Was thinking about making lei's with crepe paper and then realised you probably couldn't get any now, brain turned to using real flowers and then realised I was basically just suggesting you get the girls to make a bunch of crap daisy chains Grin

I can imagine my pre-teens face "You have RUINED my LIFE"

Dowser · 19/06/2020 12:48

You’ve been lucky all flights, we left Lindisfarne in scorching sunshine, Stirling was alright ( weird place, weird energies) but you could see the weather changing as we went further west.
The lochs are just beautiful though.. it’s why I like the lakes so much and we can get to keswick in 2 hours.

Blobby10 · 19/06/2020 12:55

@BogRollBOGOF your DS has excellent taste!! Rattler is indeed the nectar of Gods (especially if ice cold and drunk on a Cornish beach at sunset) Grin.

Does remind me of the time by own DS2 (then aged 5) declared his favourite ever drink was double gin and tonic! He had tasted either mine or my MIL drink (admittedly it was a home measured drink and she was generous!) screwed up his face in disgust but then announced to his schoolteacher he drank it. Fortunately I had a very good relationship with his teachers and she didn't call SS on me Grin
