I am going to the shops, and I will buy you a wrapped biscuit. Eg KitKat, Rocky, club etc
No chocolate bars . Has to be something from the biscuit section/aisle and has to be individually wrapped, so no triple chocolate cookies or custard creams.

What do you choose?

I choose a 2 finger KitKat.

Tunnocks caramel wafer

Gammeldragz · 16/06/2020 23:58

@TheRattleBag

Talking of kit kats...... I saw a tv programme which shows that the mushed up bit between the wafers in a kit kat is actually mushed up reject kit kats themselves.

So how did they make the first one if they needed to fill it with itself?

My mind was so blown by this I've had to tell DH. I now need to prove it...

Trio was a great biscuit @Lindtnotlint. Loved the ad.

I still like penguins. One, who doesn't love anything connected to pengies and two, we used to try and guess the colour of the next wrapper.

Viscounts were quite indulgent.

@Bloodhoundgang I never heard of jersey cream but I think we should boost the sales of Boland with an order of jersey and rasp creams

WotnoPasta · 16/06/2020 23:59

Mint club

I’ve never had a gold bar 😯

TheRattleBag · 17/06/2020 00:04

Kit Kat Filling

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 17/06/2020 00:04

I think two bar kitkat just beats a mint viscount

Then there is Tunnocks caramel wafer bars and tea cakes

And orange clubs oh and timeouts

I miss orange viscounts Sad

Heygirlheyboy · 17/06/2020 00:06

Cadbury Roundie. My new love.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 17/06/2020 00:06

Sainsbury’s sell Trio’s Grin

Kbear · 17/06/2020 00:07

Penguin

My friend with twin toddlers once hid behind a cupboard door and ate 13 penguins

Heygirlheyboy · 17/06/2020 00:09

Oh god kbear, I can totally imagine that Grin

wildthingsinthenight · 17/06/2020 00:12

Mint viscount Grin

Kbear · 17/06/2020 00:12

What was the other round minty biscuit like a viscount also in green wrapper but something else?

MulticolourMophead · 17/06/2020 00:13

Mint Club. And I can only get them when I donate blood. I daren't have them in the house because they'd be gone in a nanosecond Grin

HyggeTygge · 17/06/2020 00:13

@AllRainbowsAndUnicorns I'd completely forgotten about those hobnob cream bars! Mum used to put them in my lunchbox. Found this picture www.reddit.com/r/CasualUK/comments/7rxrwu/i_have_some_hobnob_bars_that_expired_in_1989_is/

Anyway, tough choice. It's between a drifter and a single twix for me. Or a Rocky Robin! (Thick... creamy choc)

birthdaybelle · 17/06/2020 00:18

I'll take a Viennese whirl

Time40 · 17/06/2020 00:19

Tunnocks caramel wafer - I mean, obviously they are the ultimate wrapped biscuit.

Tunnocks Caramel wafer bars. They have disappeared in lockdown and they are the thing I am missing most

Oh no - you poor thing! There has been no shortage around my way

Tartyflette · 17/06/2020 00:19

Mint Yo-Yo, please. (Showing my age)
Or, seeing as they were discontinued years ago, I'll go all exotic and opt for an Aussie one -- a Tim-Tam.
They are rectangular like a Penguin and you're supposed to bite off one corner, dunk the bitten end in your tea then bite a corner off the other end of the bar and suck up the tea through the chocolate.
Or perhaps that was just an Australian joke on us Poms. Wouldn't surprise me.

Tartyflette · 17/06/2020 00:20

kbear that would be a mint Yo-Yo!

Kbear · 17/06/2020 00:23

Yes!!! Yo yo

Thanks

I'll have four with my next cuppa

When I was a child in the 1960s, in the school holidays as a reward for being well behaved for the dentist/school uniform//shoe fitting/while my mother went to the bank etc, we used to go in the local department store and queue for a while till there was room in the restaurant. A waitress in black dress with starched white apron would show us to our seats and the lady would take our order on a little pad, and we'd have a milk shake and either a Corgi biscuit or a Penguin biscuit while my mother had a coffee. I can remember the gentle chit chat of voices, the chink of china cups being placed back on their saucers, and the hush of the rich curtains and plushly carpeted floor.

Not like that now and I doubt they serve Penguin/Club anyway. It's a noisy place with undressed bare windows, lino on the floor, and a very different atmosphere. No starched waitresses to serve you, you join a queue, pay in a line and take the tray to your table by yourself.

So much as I liked both I think penguin might be the least disappointing.

copperoliver · 17/06/2020 00:26
