This'll be thread number 13, I think.

Let's hope it's a lucky one Grin

Dp in full dementor mode tonight so I might crack open the wine and refuse to do the tea.

PatriciaHolm · 17/06/2020 18:28

@Teateaandmoretea

But the point is that there are more deaths outside hospital apparently than inside. It isn’t just about number fluctuations which we get. How exactly is d this happening because there is no explanation of it at all
Ah, get it.

ONS do release the data on location of death weekly. For week ending June 5, there were 909 covid deaths in hospital and 679 elsewhere, so elsewhere making up about 43% of total. At peak it was about 50/50. Yes, the daily numbers aren't clear, and neither are the infections numbers (other than the ONS weekly testing data which is just community based).

SummerHouse · 17/06/2020 18:32

anxious you say that like you have a choice but there's really no other way.

rookiemere · 17/06/2020 18:35

It's not been pleasant willitneverend thankfully DS is 14 so I don't have a childcare issue and at private school which hopefully they will get sorted for next term, but what I've found hard is the complete disinterest from people who aren't impacted.

So my neighbour who is an ardent SNP supporter took some convincing that what that nice Mr Swinney was proposing was part time learning for an entire academic year - she did look mildly shocked once that sunk in

Then at a team meeting today someone with young kids said they were so worried about the 1 day a week in school and was blithely swept away by someone else saying oh I'm sure it won't come to that.

Even my DPs didn't seem much to care about the sub standard education their only GC would get and instead were wittering about the situation in England.

I genuinely think without the FB groups and the coordinated protests online she wouldn't have altered a damn thing, but I bet come voting time there will be a very different narrative.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 17/06/2020 18:35

[quote Ibake]@trapped I know we've collectively decided we don't like BBC news anymore because they're miserable dementors but I did remember this article from a while ago. Some useful hints. Good luck!

Just caught up I was having dinner (Thai red chicken curry, homemade if anyone cares), thanks for the link...I shall study it very, very closely. If I get the job then the BBC with be (partially) forgiven.

Oh and before we all fall out it's "dinner" not "tea" and you will not persuade me otherwise. Grin Grin

Willitneverend · 17/06/2020 18:36

Is it just me, or does this whole article read like "Fuck, we've had a lot of negative feedback since the schools thing so need to tone it down"?

MinesaPinot · 17/06/2020 18:37

DH has just alternated between shouting at the dementor-like BBC news or shouting at the football. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

How can we still be stuck in this limbo? Why can't anyone shake BoJo up, give him a pair of balls and get us out of this.

Willitneverend · 17/06/2020 18:39

@rookiemere I know. Some of them are so far up their arses they can't see it. I bumped into someone on the SNP payroll recently and they admitted the schools thing was a mess but seemed to think I was odd for not just enjoying the lovely time off I'd been granted through the FM's munificence.

Ibake · 17/06/2020 18:40

@trapped. You see, I'm like Jason Manford's muddle class tour (if you missed it, on iPlayer) and don't know quite where I stand on problems such as this. Bolton roots mean it's tea if we eat at say 5:30-6ish and it's just us. However, if I'm being posh then I have friends over for dinner. I'm truly constantly conflicted btwn Lancashire Lass and Cheshire Wife (before you all disown me, I really am not a Cheshire wife!)

Cattermole · 17/06/2020 18:44

@Ibake Lancashire lass married to an Essex boy. I have tea at about now and dinner at midday. DH has lunch at midday and supper about now.
Fortunately Junior Mole was born in Treliske so he's proper job, so he gets to have a bit of crib instead! Grin

Orangeblossom78 · 17/06/2020 18:45

I agree with you about the 1.5m thing..(NS)

Are they not getting a bit of FOMO up there with the shops opening etc

Orangeblossom78 · 17/06/2020 18:46

It's odd it says factories are closed in Scotland but the guy DH knows said his has been open throughout, in Edinburgh.

Ibake · 17/06/2020 18:47

Knew there was a reason I liked you @cattermole!

Orangeblossom78 · 17/06/2020 18:49

From the 'out in all weathers' thread

"it's perfectly possible to have a lovely day outside in almost any weather providing your have the right gear and are healthy and well"

Right tell that to supermarket shoppers

We have dinner but invite friends over for "Supper" which sounds super posh, but I'm just a working class woman from Somerset so wtf that's all about I have no idea. I think it must link back to my childhood in Australia.

Orangeblossom78 · 17/06/2020 18:50

(imagines dementors resolutely under a pagoda affair in the park with a flask and cops steelily ploughing on with their 'fun')

Jourdain11 · 17/06/2020 18:53

Evening Smile
I might have gloated a bit too soon about feeling better - last hour or so my temperature has gone up and I've been sick about a zillion times (okay, exaggeration - maybe 5). We had to call up the hospital so that they can decide whether it might be anything nasty and whether I might need to come in. Hopefully they say no need!

So fed up! I am such a liability... just want to chill and watch the football (which I have zero to no interest in) with the rest of my poor long-suffering family.

Anyway, if I vanish again from the threads, that'll be why. No need to worry. Or fear that I've turned into a dementor! DH has just bought new masks (black, serial-killer masks...) so at least I'll be able to give my new mask an outing to the hospital if I do have to go!

Hope you're all having an okay, reasonably dementor-free evening!

Just off a zoom meeting with the school. Approx. 50% of parents in attendance (one man - this children problem is a WOMEN problem...). 2 were permanently muted due to toddlers/babies.

2 days a week confirmed.
Packed lunches.
Optional uniform.
Different doors per class.
“Do as much as you can at home”
No PE - but lots of running around the park.
Masks for children and teachers optional.
No opportunity to change days if your employer doesn’t agree.
4000 PPE aprons have been delivered... for a school of 65.
Parents to take temps before sending to school.
Any illness child will be immediately isolated with someone in full PPE incl. visor.

Nobody there looked delighted. Women are either working or battling tiny ones. Not much mention of making memories.

DrearyWallAntler · 17/06/2020 18:54

We have been invited to w wedding in France in October. (the couple getting married have their official notice it's going ahead)

So fuck it. We have booked flights.

The social calendar is on the up!

Oh yeah, my whole family just loves tramping around London streets in the rain. It is really uplifting!

Lol, I fear the memories will be well and truly made whether they are trying to do so or not!

Interesting re the masks. Neither my DC's school and DH's school are allowing them for kids.

I’m sure you’ll have tried a chiropractor or osteopath first.
Yes?

MinesaPinot · 17/06/2020 18:58

Take care @jourdain11 hope all goes okay Flowers

AnxiousElephant77 · 17/06/2020 18:59

If I'm at home, I'm making the tea, if I'm in a restaurant, I'm out for dinner.

torydeathdrug · 17/06/2020 19:03

take care Jourdain, hope you feel less ill very quickly Flowers
