What do you call this plate of food...?

When you have a selection of various foodstuffs? For example:
Crackers, cheese, ham, boiled egg, hummus, crudités, pork pie or sausage roll, grapes.

Basically, a little bit of everything. I've seen it called a 'picky plate' or 'snack plate' on FB etc. I've also seen it mentioned on MN how they detest the saying.

So, I'm just curious what you call this type of meal?

British tapas if beige party type food
Or
’Buffee’ bits

DancingWithTheDevil · 15/06/2020 13:44

I don't call it anything really. It's just a snack/lunch/dinner/whatever.

My Nana used to call it a bung up.

MrsOrMiss · 15/06/2020 13:44

Used to be picky bits or horse doofers.

From today, Trashy Tapas!

BearSoFair · 15/06/2020 13:44

A 'bitsa tea' - it's bits of everything

RedRed9 · 15/06/2020 13:45

@TheQueensCousin do you call it a s’mores board on purpose (the campfire marshmallow+biscuit+chocolate concoction)? Or are you thinking of Smörgåsbord ?

Divebar · 15/06/2020 13:45

I find the inclusion of ham problematic as firstly you need a knife and a fork rather than just a knife and secondly you have pork pie AND sausage roll ? You’ve got a piggy overload right there. If I had that in the lunchtime it would be lunch and in the evening I would think it would be supper.

lurker2003 · 15/06/2020 13:46

Picky bits Grin

NiceTwin · 15/06/2020 13:48

@TheQueensCousin

S'mores board.
S'mores are a biscuit with marshmallow filling, an American foodstuff, do you mean a smorgasbord?
HeronLanyon · 15/06/2020 13:48

Bits and bobs. I often eat like this.
It’s not crudités nor charcuterie - more mixed than that.

redastherose · 15/06/2020 13:48

Party tea or picnic tea depending on if we are eating it outside or inside!

TheQueensCousin · 15/06/2020 13:48

@RedRed9 you're right...silly me! 🙄 Yes that's what we call it in our house. We also buy delicious S'mores croissants from our local baker too 😊

GameSetMatch · 15/06/2020 13:50

Snacking foods

sniffysnifferson · 15/06/2020 13:50

Picky tea or picnic tea!

AlphaDalpha · 15/06/2020 13:50

"Picnic lunch" for the kids, "I can't be bothered to cook, shall we eat cheese" for the grown ups.

chochaholic79 · 15/06/2020 13:50

In our house it's Tapas

AgeLikeWine · 15/06/2020 13:51

A fridge picnic.

M0mmyneedswine · 15/06/2020 13:52

Picnic tea

MashedSpud · 15/06/2020 13:56

Finger foods.

Mini banquet.

Mini feast.

stardance · 15/06/2020 14:01

We call it picky bits

TheTempest · 15/06/2020 14:03

It’s called a Little Snack in our house, doesn’t matter which meal it’s for or how big it is. From when DD was little.

GoodUserName · 15/06/2020 14:09

I'd just call it lunch, most of my lunch plates are anonymous bits of what I fancy, dh says shall we just pick tonight referring to just snacking on nibbles instead of a cooked meal, and I'd probably produce something similar to the above for me.

Carycy · 15/06/2020 14:11

Platter or a Ploughmans if it’s heavy on the cheese and apple.

Twine88 · 15/06/2020 14:12

Taster plate
