What do you call this plate of food...?

When you have a selection of various foodstuffs? For example:
Crackers, cheese, ham, boiled egg, hummus, crudités, pork pie or sausage roll, grapes.

Basically, a little bit of everything. I've seen it called a 'picky plate' or 'snack plate' on FB etc. I've also seen it mentioned on MN how they detest the saying.

So, I'm just curious what you call this type of meal?

Lounge picnic

Hohohole · 15/06/2020 15:31

Snacky plate obviously.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 15/06/2020 15:33

MysteriesOfTheOrganism · 15/06/2020 15:34

Pick'n'mix Grin

TimeWastingButFun · 15/06/2020 15:35

I'd call it a picnic or even maybe a Ploughman's?

AmelieTaylor · 15/06/2020 15:35

Carpet Picnic 🧺 since MN ruined 'picky bits'

awomancalledtrevor · 15/06/2020 15:37

Cold stuff. Our winter version is pasta with stuff

WaynettaIsMyStyleIcon · 15/06/2020 15:39

Funny dinner/tea.

Vintagehearts · 15/06/2020 15:43

It's certainly not a poor mans tapas. If you buy nice ham, a couple of nice cheeses, grapes, nice crackers or bread, crudités, maybe some olives and pate it soon adds up! Add some wine too and it all sounds very continental...

turnthebiglightoff · 15/06/2020 15:46

It's pronounced like luddites* GrinGrin it's "crew-dit-a"! Feel like a knob for correcting but I couldn't let that go!

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 15/06/2020 15:49

It's a bitsa here.

HeronLanyon · 15/06/2020 15:49

turn many thanks for allowing me to avoid being that knob.

turnthebiglightoff · 15/06/2020 15:51

@HeronLanyon haha you're welcome; it's my biggest flaw, I just can't let it go! Grammar 👮‍♂️ here!

Ironfloor269 · 15/06/2020 15:58

'Picky bits' gives me visions of female genitalia on a plate...

ExpletiveDelighted · 15/06/2020 15:58

Actually we might call it a picnic lunch sometimes rather than just lunch. I'm another who doesn't like "picky bits". Or "dippy eggs".

ThickFast · 15/06/2020 16:00

@turnthebiglightoff I think cruddites was a joke. She knows how it’s pronounced but says it like that a joke.

rosydreams · 15/06/2020 16:01

pinktaxi · 15/06/2020 16:01

Policeman Badger tea, nicked from my aunt who used to make this kind of tea for us when we were little. Tufty club, anyone? It always had to contain a chocolate roll. My DH now uses this term.

orangejuice1 · 15/06/2020 16:03

Nibbles/nibbly bits. "Picky bits" just makes me think of people picking their various orifices

Westfacing · 15/06/2020 16:07

Tasty morsels.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 15/06/2020 16:08

We called it a mixture as kids. My nieces now ask for a cold mixture. They’re picky little buggers and often refuse all offers of hot food!

TWBDT · 15/06/2020 16:09

Picky plate or picnic plate.
