For me it's people (especially men - yes, I'm being sexist) who shake hands like a limp lettuce. Takes all myself control not to wipe my hand down my side ....

What's yours?

Feet. Looking at them. Can’t touch them except mine and baby feet. Can’t have anyone touch mine either.
Men with long fingernails.

Londonborncatty · 14/06/2020 21:49

Oh hair. Another person’s stray hair. Can’t stand swimming pool changing rooms for this reason. God forbid I have a stray hair on my wet foot. Can’t let my towel touch the floor and feel generally tainted until I can shower in my own home. A stray hair in food is horrendous. Can’t even think about it.

Balloons
Holes
wearing socks or tights without shoes on
My father in laws voice I want to punch him in the voice box

OrDis · 14/06/2020 21:51

The pips when you chop up a melon 🤣

Dizzylin · 14/06/2020 21:56

Clowns
Cut finger or toe nails 🤢

fieldofwheat · 14/06/2020 21:58

Eels. Especially if there's lots of them in a bucket all wiggling round each other.

And those Victorian style 'realistic' dolls. There is a hotel near where my folks live and there's a long line of them all sat in the window staring at you as you walk (run) past!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 14/06/2020 21:58

Toads.Until I met one up close with its red eyes and scary as fuck face I didnt realise how creepy they are.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 14/06/2020 22:03

pink that is possibly the most terrifying thing I've ever read on MN Confused

borntohula · 14/06/2020 22:05

The idea of getting up in the dead of night to go to the toilet.

oo0Tinkerbell0oo · 14/06/2020 22:05

Daddy Longlegs (Crane Fly), i cant be in a room with one, the noise they make when they bounce off things just terrifies me.
Like spiders i have to see it once it's been caught and safe in a container and then watch it being put outside or i wont go back in the room it was in.

Bluemascara4 · 14/06/2020 22:05

Swimming pool drains ( massive phobia)

Long toe nails and open toed shoes / flip flops

House spiders

I'm sure there are more !!!

formerbabe · 14/06/2020 22:11

Looking up at really tall buildings

Whatnextnotsure · 14/06/2020 22:12

Anything with holes or certain patterns - I really suffer from trypophobia

Sound of long nails tapping

Someone chewing gum

Certain words and phrases

Empty swimming pools (random I know)

Certain large objects such as huge statues or buildings as I feel like I'm going to be swallowed up (I think there is an official name for this phobia but not sure?)

Also, once I was on a beach in Norfolk walking with the family and couldn't go near the legs of the pier as the sea had come right up to them. It wasn't deep, maybe a foot or so but I felt very panicky walking under the pier through the water if that makes sense? If it was just sand under the pier it would have been fine. I still don't know why i was scared and it was a couple of years ago now!
There is also something about large things in water I hate. I remember seeing a picture of a statue of a lady that had been put in a lake in Germany and it was massive and looked truly surreal and terrifying! I'll try and find a pic.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 14/06/2020 22:13

Holes for me as well.

And large expanses of open sea.

Whatnextnotsure · 14/06/2020 22:14

This

What gives you the heebiejeebies?
Whatnextnotsure · 14/06/2020 22:15

Oh and big spiders!

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 14/06/2020 22:15

And anthropomorphised/CGId talking animals and babies.

Awful.

Bbq1 · 14/06/2020 22:17

Slugs. In our old house there must have been a gap and they used to appear in the kitchen at night. I am terrified of them and really panic if I see one. The way they move and everything, makes me feel sick.

Friedeggsontoast · 14/06/2020 22:18

Since understanding something about myself where I feel excitement in clearly very stressful situations... I now understand that instead of actually loving the holes thing... I'm actually probably terrified!

Bbq1 · 14/06/2020 22:19

Ugh and other people's used napkins on their plate.

missmouse101 · 14/06/2020 22:21

People's teeth, gums and open mouths. They look disgusting and I have to make sure I keep looking at their eyes when they're talking.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 14/06/2020 22:23

@Whatnextnotsure wtf is that?!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 14/06/2020 22:23

Moths
Tubes in meat

MarmotMorning · 14/06/2020 22:23

People scratching their tights makes me shiver. The thinner the tights, the worse it is.

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 · 14/06/2020 22:24

Chalky hands (often from climbing) on synthetic clothing.

...and synthetic clothing in general...

(meaning I spend an inordinate amount of time in baggy, shapeless clothes)
